Nintendo is that draconic of it's IPs. It's why it's ultimately the Big N who calls the shots when it comes to Smash, not Sakurai. Sakurai just makes the game. You can see why the Wii U was a disaster.

@@Gaia_BentosZX5 Conveniently forgetting the fact that Sakurai's team is entirely outsourced because Sora Ltd. doesn't work for Nintendo unless contracted and Bandai Namco is its own development studio. A team that Sakurai gathered himself with Nintendo mainly handling licensing and promotional material. A team where Sakurai is the director and not someone from Nintendo.

@@ChevalierSilver It totally was. They have put so many references to their own games as well as Nintendo stuff. Things like entering pipes to reach secret areas or entire boss fights that play like a certain classic NES game. Not to mention the amazing combat (if you give it some time to learn it) and tons of secrets and unlockables.

It’s the only Kamiya game NOT on Switch. Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry, Okami, Bayonetta and now Wonderful 101.

This game was totally a spiritual successor to Viewtiful Joe and nobody can tell me otherwise! ... I miss you Joe :(

Not a great first impression.

More than just a remaster for Switch, their stretch goals were for PS4 and I think PC, too. So once the Switch version is complete, expect those to eventually come if you don't want to buy it on that system for some reason.

I don't know how much of the original they're going to be building off of, but they probably won't be starting from scratch, so it's not quite as drastic. Also, they're designing it for the least powerful system first, so optimization to get it to run on other hardware shouldn't be as big of an issue.

I can't describe how happy I am this finally gets the recognition it deserves. It's one of the best action games ever made and is probably one of the biggest commercial failures in the game industry.

If you a short description of the game I'll tell: it's plays and feels like how it looks on screen, energetic and chaotic but thrilling.

No sooner do I see the kickstarter for The Wonderful 101, does 'did you know gaming' release a video relating to it. Nice.

3:00 I think I read that book. I think I remember being vaguely reminded about it when I first saw Wishiwashi in Pokemon Gen 7 but I couldn't put my finger on it at the time.

Im glad the Nintendo all star game was rejected. Red is such a good character. And blue's character development is so well done, something you rarely see in games of this genera. The end result was so much more interesting than if Mario was the main character or whatever

I would say the same but I actually gave it another chance from the beginning and managed to enjoy it a LOT more. The key was in actually learning how the game works and plays rather than mashing my way through it

It also hit 4 stretch goals now lol. Steam version, PS4 version, time attack, and a 2D side-scrolling mode of sorts called “Luka’s First Mission”.

This is one of my favorite games of all time. I'm super happy we're getting a remaster!

The fact that I was literally just thinking about the theme song for Game History Secrets today....

"This Was A Short Story About A Small Black Fish Who's Friends One Day Got Swallowed Up By A Large Tuna. Swimmy Travels The Ocean, And Eventually Befriends Another Group Of Little Red Fish, He Realizes They Can Survive If They Can Stand Up To The Larger Fish Together. They Learned To Swim In Formation, And Mimicked The Appearance Of A Larger Fish To Scare Away The Hungry Tuna." That's an amazing story to go by for a game influence...Especially the one we're talking about! 😄😁👍

I've always wanted to play this game and hearing that it was successfully kickstarted for switch gave me chills!

This game is an absolute masterpiece. So excited to play it again!

I loved this game so much when i played it on the wiiu and was sad when my gamepad stop working so wasnt able to play it anymore, was one of the few games i would double dip on if it ever came to the switch, and also glad that it will comes to other platforms so others can experience it, trust me the game has lot content than you would have expected, tons of unlockables and crazy amount of replay-ability, this game is extremely underrated and has ton of charm and one of the best final boss battles ive had. Best believe im buying this game again

Missed this game on the WiiU, but I'm so happy it's getting a new life on the Switch!

It is, but the controls & block timing are alot different then it looks.

8:19 Actually Wonder Orange and Wonder Gold are technically a part of final game, they just did minor esthetic differences to Wonder Orange and Wonder Gold. Wonder-Pastry the wonderful one that you unlock at operation 001, is a rejected version of Wonder Orange they just changed her name her outfit is exactly the same from her concept art. They just changed her name from Wonder Orange to Wonder Pastry. Same goes for Wonder Gold/Wonder Money. He has the exact same outfit from his beta concept art, but they just changed his name in the final version from Wonder Gold to Wonder Money. So yeah Wonder Orange and Wonder Gold are in the final Wonderful 101 game. They look exactly the same from their beta concept art, they just changed their names.

5:34 wtf, that's identical to the stairs of Park Güell in Barcelona. Never played Bayonetta but I recognize the architecture (catalan modernism).

I loved this game. It was a lot of fun.

i do kinda wish nintendo would bring back the all star concept since i feel we need a nintendo crossover that isnt smash bros. and make an action rpg game using nintendos worlds and characters. despite that i really love this game, it really is a viewtiful joe 3.0(bayonetta's, jeanne, and rodin's appearnce in it is just like dante,trish, and vergils guest appearance in viewtiful joe, silvia is playable and friends with wonder pink and even joke about viewtiful joe 3.) and i would love it if kamiya had the wonder group alongside viewtiful joe and silvia appear in a game with bayonetta and dante since all those series are surprisingly tied together.

i use one of the jingles that plays in this game (that took forever to find a rip of btw) as my opening and no one has noticed in years

16:10 I thought it was because the James Bond rightsholders would take issue with their "double o" pronunciation? I mean Darkwing Duck was going to be a spy show called Double-O Duck.

Never bought a Wii U yet I've heard mountains of praise for this title so I'm looking forward to finally trying it after backing the Kickstarter.

Since I skipped the Wii U (my one and only missed Nintendo home console), I didn't even know about this game until the Kickstarter for the Switch port. Thanks for bringing me up to date. Here's hoping Switch development doesn't take too long. The game looks . . . well, wonderful! (Dare I say viewtiful?)

Man, a part of me wishes we got the Nintendo All-Star version of the game just because it sounds really cool.

Funny how on the kickstarter page they put up posts going into the history of the game's conception, but they start way later in the timeline than this video. I guess Platinum wants to downplay W101's start as a Nintendo character all-star concept, as it's now spreading to other platforms, and Nintendo apparently doesn't view it as one of their exclusive properties at all in the end.

@@Uderscore According to Platinum they did offer to port the game to Switch and finance it themselves but with the condition that it would only be on Switch. Apperantly they said something along the lines "or you do the port only with us or you port it to other consoles too and finance it yourselves"

Now that is a game that needs a sequel. It is amazing, it's too bad that the Wii U wasn't strong enough for what it could have been. If it ever sees a sequel for the next gen like PS5 or something I could honestly see it being even more ambitious like a Wonderful 1001 instead of just 101.
