Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a very big public health problem. Half of all women will experience at least one UTI in their lifetime. After an initial UTI 1 in 4 will have a recurrence within 6 months. In addition, around a third of people have infections that do not respond to standard short-course antibiotic treatment. The problem is significantly compounded by infections being missed by inaccurate tests that were introdcued in the 1950s based on the science of the time. This is leading to people with genuine UTIs being undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Imelda speaks about her lengthy experience with chronic UTI and how that has impacted her life. Unlike the UK, chronic UTI is not recognised or accepted in Australia and people (mostly women) are seeking treatment from UK specialist clinics. This problem needs to be urgently addressed in Australia.

A helpline would be good. The women can ring up and complain on there about their fake illnesses

Women’s hormones such as estrogen can be impacted by histomines in food and lead to migraines, pain and other conditions.
