it’s really, really not though..... The thing, get out are just two off the top of my head. Also tons of the classic movie killers like jason, freddy kreuger, sam, michael meyers, etc. could also be considered the main characters of their respective series. It’s true that women are the main chars in horror more often but the difference in treatment towards women horror mains and male ones is undeniable. It seems like brushing over a lot of important context when you just frame it as “theres a lot more women main characters in horror than males”

I took the ending differently then you did. I thought in her deranged way, she thought she was doing him a favor. Even though she could never be at peace, she wanted the only person to actually try to do her a kindness to be at peace. That how I took it, she set this up to reunite him with his wife in the afterlife. If she truly wanted to punish him, i believe she would have just made sure the child died so he could suffer, but by both giving them a quick death, they could all 3 be together for eternity.

I thought the same thing after watching the movie. It also made a bit of sense, seeing the Woman in Black's face when watching Arthur go for his son. I had a sligtly different interpretation of the ending, i thought that it was more her twisted amd broken way of rewarding Arthur for bringing her son back. She got her victims and kept her iron grip on the town but reunited him with his lost love. By no means has she come to be at peace but arthur was an outsider and tried to give her son back so she changed her curse ever so slightly. But maybe that was just me being sentimental

I don't think it's a reward. Just before a Arthur's death she literally says "never forgive never forget." Proving she didn't care. Instead she tried to kill his son and leave him in a life of misery but the thing is she didn't expect him to leap onto the tracks and so she lost. Instead of Arthur feeling misery he has been reunited with his family and he is happy and that final scene is her looking in anger as she has lost.

Yes exactly. So arthur defeated her and she couldn't claim his son. Like the many children she done claimed. Lady in black wasn't expecting him to jump on the tracks. I think she wanted Arthur to feel misery like the other parents. The Other parents weren't around Their children when she unfortunately took their lives, in exception of arthur. Therefore i think at the end..she was giving him more of the evil eye lol cuz even in death, he was still able to save his son(spiritually) & he was reunited with his wife and found happiness. Where they were able to walk away and weren't victims trapped in her curse like the rest of the children on the platform. So her bitter ass lost at the end and knew she couldn't touched them..and wife played a huge part of being their guardian angel was already protecting them & waiting at the end to claim them😏❤

I feel like this was a thank you, the woman in black knew he was suffering without his love just like she was suffering without a child. He was the only one to sit down and understand, made that connection to her. He set out to help her, to rest her spirit but the pain will never move on unless in the spirit world she was reunited will the son. The son spirit was lost. As a thank you for atleast trying she gave him his heart wish, which was to see his wife along with bringing the kid with him. She stares at him at the end cause she knows he is reunited and don’t have to hurt anymore.

No. I don't think she would be so kind. She actually wants to kill his kid to make him feel what it's like to loss a son. She always says 'never forgive', so it's pretty much obvious she is very vengeful. What she doesn't expect that Arthur would jump after his child. Well, he is pretty much suicidal after his wife die. So, since he is with his son at the time of death and his wife always guarding him, she couldn't get his son soul like other children's. It explains how she kinda look pissed at the end. Although he doesn't solve anything, it kinda brings peace to Arthur being with his wife, with his son, again.

The ending to me isn't a bad ending but instead a nice but upsetting ending yes the women caused them both to die however in doing so reunited Arthur and his son with their wife/mother. In a sense it's a weird version of kindness as Arthur was hunted by the death of his wife. Arthur helped the women in black reunite with her dead son, so in return she reunites the broken family with their dead wife/mother

Sadly that’s not true, the woman did not kill Arthur and His son to reunite them, she never forgave Arthur, even after he reunited her with her son. Before Arthur’s death she’s heard in the house saying “Never forgive never forgive” this shows she doesn’t care about Arthur or his son and she’s going to kill them anyway which she does, the ending shot of her face is pure hatred because Arthur came out the winner and got to be with his family again, which is exactly what she had hoped wouldn’t happen.

With TWIB it’s beyond the simple act of returning her son. She seen what happened, she knew where the body was in life and never attempted to retrieve him. So to me this isn’t about the kid it never was. The woman was always filled with anger and hatred (the letters) she was never happy or satisfied I doubt in death it would change. She cursed herself long before her sons death, his death just solidified it. And the end wasn’t positive she didn’t intend for him to go after his son like everyone else she wanted him to suffer, her face still shown grief and malice. Again she has no humanity at this point her soul can’t be redeemed. It would have been nice to think she did it out of kindness but she didn’t. You guys are putting humanity in a place where it’s void

I thing it's just Arthur being a bad father in the end at the train station. No actual sensible parent would leave their 5 yo kid free at a place like a train boarding platform to wander freely. Especially after they know the kid to be in danger. Not a parent yet, but wouldn't let a kid run around like that. Also the nanny is equally useless. Even if Arthur got really thankful & focused on the rich guy, the nanny is standing free right there, should have caught the kid. If anything, the nanny should be more anxious to look after the kid, but a real life Arthur would lift his kid up on his arms & only let go in the train seat.

I watched this in theater, and thought it was really fantastic. I thought the ending was... bittersweet. It was amazing that they went with that choice, and it surprised me in a good way. A lot of people tend to think of "dying" as a sad end but in a way he did "save" his son, at least in spirit (HA!) and was able to go with him, keeping him safe, even in the afterlife. In the end he and his son were reunited with his wife, able to walk off together with a smile on their faces. Not only that, but I think it was a way to show that death isn't some kind of punishment for the ones who she kills- which is supported by the fact that the kids aren't afraid of her, even though they're the ones that are being killed- because it's not the kids the lady wants to punish, but the parents. The kids standing in the train window aren't tormented, but accusatory. The people who see them are supposed to be tormented.

For Arthur to “Learn the feeling of the loss of a child the hard way”... wouldn’t be need to be left alive to be driven mad by the grief? Seems like the woman was actually freeing him from the beginning of the madness of losing his wife (the blade to the neck in the beginning) by reuniting them. To me the “never forget” was about her not forgetting the act of kindness he attempted by giving her her son’s body... and essentially returning the favour of KNOWING his wife would be on the other side, and bringing them together. But I’m also an idiot so who knows.

  • @gemminycricket7597

    @gemminycricket7597

She wasn't saying "never forget" though, she was saying "never forgive" like she said in the letter to her sister, which suggests that she has become that hateful that she can't be put to rest. Her resentment surpassed her grief over her son and she turned her tragedy into something malicious. The peaceful ending for Arthur is likely fate rewarding his enduring kindness. His losses didn't keep him from being a pure person (the kind of person who would see a baby bird suffering outside its nest and gently return it home, And the kind of person who would risk everything to reunite a grieving mother with her lost son). She tried to inflict her pain on others, but his kindness granted him peace in the afterlife with his wife and his murdered son. The blade to the neck thing was probably to show that while his grief tempts him to die, he fights on and does what he must for whatever and whomever he has left. She made the other choice. She ended her life and was ultimately worse off for it; death did not cure her pain. That's just my take on it.

The play version is actually identical to the movie version with a few differences. This caused me to feel alot of emotions I haven't felt for a very long time, great movie and a great play. Would recommend it.

I really wanted to say that, FoundFlix, you have an amazing gift. You put so much dedication and research (I think) into your videos, and I respect that truly. And a a lot of "ending explained" videos are not very entertaining. But your presence, and your amazing personality is very entertaining. Sometimes there is videos of movies I have not watched yet, but I'll let you spoil it, because your videos are that good. Keep going man!

My take on the ending was not that she had managed to claim another child so in addition to an adult, but through the father's effort in the end he managed to save his child from being captured by her. In this ultimate selfless act by the parent, she is envious and defeated

That's how I always interpreted it. If her intention was for Arthur to suffer then having him spend a happy afterlife with his son wouldn't really make any sense. You could argue that she didn't anticipate him trying to save his son but that would be a total lack of common sense on her part. It is kind of strange that she even knew he had a wife who had died though.

The thing is that though she killed them since Harry Potter went to save his son, and not just leave him to die like what seems to be what happened to all the others (I mean just where were these parents??), the two of them were allowed to move on to the afterlife and not be stuck with her like the other poor children she killed. At least that's what I got from this film. Its kinda amusing that in the old horror movie The Lady in White, reuniting the mother and child does equal a happy ending.
