The funny part is, this acting is so incredible that i lost all train of thought about the script. Everyone's acting is so good here that the script almost feels pointless.

I mean, it's definitely not pointless. It provides context and structure which then allows the actors to experiment and go crazy. Without it, the entire house of cards falls apart.

You ever notice Martin Scorsese always gives his actresses that star making entrance /opening. The beauty disarms you but leaves you walking away talking about what amazing performance they did. Even Sharon Stone who hit her peak with Basic Instinct had her intro then blew everyone away with Casino. Like this scene alone you knew Margot was a star in the making and the rest of her performance nailed it.

Yes!! Reminds me of Cybill Shepherd in Taxi Driver.

I felt bad for Teresa during this scene. She was completely unaware that her husband's eyes were starting to wander and that he was thinking of cheating on her with this other woman. She didn't deserve that; she was a good wife.

Hildy is being protective of her and probably telling her to watch out, calling out Jordan when he is with Naomi with the "why don't you ask YOUR WIFE". Ironically...once Jordan leaves Teresa and Naomi becomes the wife, you see Hildy embrace her and hanging out with her during the rest of the movie.

Screenplay awards should take into account the amount of improvisation. If heavy improvisation, the actor deserves more of the credit.

The screenplay still provides the jumping off point for the actor; just because the words aren't recited verbatim doesn't mean that the original intentions of the script are lost. Also, director often work with actors on customizing their lines -- sometimes other actors will offer ideas for lines that aren't theirs -- so it can get murky to decide who gets "credit" in this highly collaborative medium.

Screenplay is about much more than dialogue. Dialogue is just the sweet topping. The screenwriter literally invents the scene and its intent, which is the hardest part.

"My nutsacks about to explode"💀

That famous trip-out scene is probably written as funny as it was shot.

The funny thing is the guy Naomi brought is a real person, he ended up becoming a billionaire that was richer than Jordan Belfort, legally of course.

@@lauraf8625 Its called directing. The director can take out whatever he wants from the script and put in whatever he wants.

Odd to feature this here. I mean, the script reads super well. The actors are obviously improvising and it comes across great, probably even better. But the two don’t correlate much anymore. I guess they would still be explained in a similar fashion if you wanted to tell someone about either/or had they not seen/read any of it. Awesome scene, regardless. Curious if there were drafts closer to this or if it was all improv.

I didn't even consider multiple takes of the same scene lol. I've never been on a set so the thought evaded me but good acting tip thank you for that

They picked the best possible song to play during this scene. "Never say Never" by Romeo Void. Just a home run of a song that screams party and sex from this decade. Perfectly sets the mood of this scene. New wave rock and roll at it's finest.

@@Opal5674 Well this takes place in the 90s, when men's suits and casual wear had distinctly shaken off the 80s oak. Expensive business and holiday wear actually looked quite cool (apart from the square toed shoes), and hairstyles were mostly short and rough. Think George Michael in a grey suit and tie or early BOSS models.

The movie is a hit and people like it for the energy charisma and lunacy that takes place in Belfort's life so yeah clothing is mute thanks for your opinion though means a lot to know the script is more important than clothes design

@@artistaccount It's quite endearing when small brained people try wearing a big minded thinking cap, using lofty expressions and big concepts they've picked up from others; it kinda just flops over their eyes and makes them look small and silly. Especially when they're aggressively arrogant about it, revealing their complete lack of understanding of the larger issue at hand. Every film dealing with financial fraud, big league gangsters, and corrupted wealth goes to great lengths to display historically accurate clothing, since sartorial spending is one of the hallmarks of criminal trappings and greed - from Casino to Wall Street and Cotton Club to American Psycho. The criminal male ego is often intrinsically linked to status and vanity; this is why the first thing they buy when the money comes in is suits and designer clothing. Getting these details periodically right is a point of pride for any wardrobe production, and often a world of interest in it self in terms of fandom. Next time you want to get pissy about something, make sure your mind isn't stuck in its sad little mirror hall of clichés.

This had to be one of the worst movies ever made. I didnt make it 45 minutes into this garbage before I left the theater. DiCaprio is as bad an actor as Keanu Reeves.
