Cool old ruins. Looks like nature is making a lovely yellow carpet. The fire sure did some damage. Can't be too safe in places if some of the ruins are propped up with wood. Great explore 👍

Oh what a lovely quote to start with. It's foundations laid solidly - walls still standing. It was intended to last. What a monument. The yellow algae or moss looks amazingly bright. Like a carpet covering the floor for feet to tread on. It is actually still a beautiful site- with life all round. Thank you for this sharing. I so enjoyed the video. Very cool. I didn’t realize the house was this big until you started showing more of it. These really are some cool ruins. I remember reading his books, The Call of the Wild, and White Fang in school. Too bad about the fire. 👍

Craig, the ruins are so impressive! His wife had a home built after his death, called the House of Happy Walls. It is the current museum and has a treasure trove of his memorabilia and artifacts. I am glad you enjoyed watching 👀 😃 Thank you

An interesting video DL. I remember reading Call of the Wild as a youngster but never really knew much about the author. Such a shame the house caught fire, I'm guessing the remote location wouldn't have given it much chance of being saved. Nice images at the end too.

I remember visiting this location as a teen, my grandparents took me (they lived in Santa Rosa). At the time I visited, there was signage about the cause of the fire was due to arson, because of Jack London's affiliation with Socialism. I see now they have changed the cause. Thanks for sharing the adventure.

Jack, my grandmother always took me here as a child as well (Sonoma) There was an investigation done, and while it wasn't 100% it was determined that it was more likely to be from a spontaneous combustion due to the rags being left in a pile the day prior. I always enjoy seeing the wolf house. It has such a special feel to it. I appreciate you watching 👀 😊

GC, I am not sure about the insurance. My understanding is he wanted to rebuild, but his health wasn't the greatest and he passed on 3 years later. His wife had a smaller home built om the property that she moved into from the ranch house. It was called The house if happy walls. I am glad you enjoyed watching 👀 😃 Thank you

Hi Princess OMG, I was going to catch up some vids and my comment disappeared... Today's hike takes back to 1913 I love stone walls...but it really leaves sorrow..before moving in, it was burned down. Is that normal dying young age at that time? Now the state own this property, I reckong... bitter story for the rich heritage. On the other hand , your photographs really flatter my eyes....so vivid and lively Thank YOU Princess. Ms. Kayak, it was a sad event, but the ruins are still admired today. Jack actually had severe kidney problems from using a medicine that had mercury in during his sailing days working on a ship. The state does run the park, and they keep everything up well and have events throughout the year there. I am so happy you enjoyed watching 😃 👀 Thank you
