Believe me ... she is even more loved & appreciated now than she ever was when she was alive! ❤🕊️ Genuine talents like her rarely exist these days, and I've noticed that even the majority of today's younger generation seems to appreciate her now more than ever, which honestly puts a smile on my face ... especially in this absolutely warped world we currently live in!
It's a beautiful song. It is my most favourite song in Wizard of Oz of all time and it is one of my favourite 1930s films of all time as well. I've watched Wizard of Oz loads of times and it's absolutely fantastic. This song and the film never get old. They will always be timeless classics. I am listening to it from Ireland 🇮🇪.
I first saw The Wizard Of Oz on TV in 1959 when I was 7 years old. I loved it and our family watched it every year on Sunday night in February until I left home for college. I still love watching Judy sing Over The Rainbow, It's one of my favorite songs

@@MaskedMan66Luckily, Arthur Freed (future producer of such evergreen classics as SINGIN' IN THE RAIN) basically told those insensitive bean-counters--or whatever role they played-- "That song stays or I go." @@ellynmacgregor8210 That's one story. The other is that it was actually producer Mervyn LeRoy who didn't want his vision despoiled any further. He'd grudgingly agreed to the removal of the Jitterbug sequence, the Triumphal Return sequence, and even a reprise of "Over the Rainbow," but he had fought like mad to get Judy the starring role, and he would be damned if her signature tune was not in the finished product.

That's because she was sixteen when she recorded it (then again, there are people like Jackie Evancho). But the whole reason she was cast in the role was that her singing in other movies had blown away Mervyn LeRoy, the producer of _Wizard,_ and he knew she was the only choice for the role of Dorothy.

Yes. I did. I saw it as a little kid when it came on TV. I had somehow forgotten about Toto being in the scene and when I saw it just now (April 2024), the combination of Garland's unique voice and the dog's sweet manner was a bit too much for me.
JUDY GARLAND: GREATEST ENTERTAINER OF ALL TIME. Short-sided studio executives wanted to cut this song because they felt it "slowed the picture down" and they couldn't have a "fat girl singing in a barnyard." MGM did irreparable damage to Garland's self-image and self-esteem. Common sense prevailed for the song, however. "Over The Rainbow" stayed in the picture and won an Academy Award.
