He'd grudgingly agreed to the removal of the Jitterbug sequence, the Triumphal Return sequence, and even a reprise of "Over the Rainbow," but he had fought like mad to get Judy the starring role, and he would be damned if her signature tune was not in the finished product.

That's because she was sixteen when she recorded it (then again, there are people like Jackie Evancho). JUDY GARLAND: GREATEST ENTERTAINER OF ALL TIME. Short-sided studio executives wanted to cut this song because they felt it "slowed the picture down" and they couldn't have a "fat girl singing in a barnyard." MGM did irreparable damage to Garland's self-image and self-esteem. Common sense prevailed for the song, however. "Over The Rainbow" stayed in the picture and won an Academy Award.

1:08: A shot from a dog tied up to a wheel? What was the intention of it? Most likely god(dog) being bound to the samsara(?) wheel a.k.a. we bound to the endless illusionary life.

Pull the other one. I was around at the time and there was never any such kak as that. Dorothy Gale was a literary character who had first appeared in a book in 1900, as the entire world knew.
