Destiny 2 - Japanese Dubbed Witness

I've been studying Japanese in my spare time, and I really wanted to use Destiny for sentence mining so I spent some time working on captions that could be used with mpvacious. I didn't plan to release this video on my channel, but I figured someone somewhere might want to do the same thing.
I've also added English subtitles to this video, though be warned that they are not translations of the Japanese dialogue but the original lines from the English version of the game. If you see the English subs not really matching the Japanese dialogue, that'll probably be the cause. The subs in the Excision part of the video are also just me guessing, so it's possible I got some pairings wrong.

Gotta say I prefer English, doesn't sound very scary or strange. But Nezzy? oh boy HE sounds great in Japanese.

It just doenst have the same ominous feel especially in the first time we ever see it after wq. After that cutscene we are left with nothing but what the fuck is this thing.

The issue is that Japanese voice acting tends to be...tropey. It's always some variation of the same voice done a dozen times before.
Destiny is my favorite anime

English witness is better. But Japanese Nezarec? God tier voice acting there
Tbh I think English witness sounds much better. You can clearly hear it go from a composed villain to a desperate one when it sees we can hurt it. From the second we deal our first fatal hit to it we see a whole new side. One of fear. Its movements are no longer slow and composed. There now faster and more frantic.

Do you have the quote in excision where it says “We are the first knife, the edge that carved purpose into being?”
Looking forward to seeing this voice actor reprise this role in the Destiny Anime.

The lightfall stuff reminded me of Tokusatsu. I still think Destiny could make for a great Tokusatsu like power rangers

I have no plans on doing so, but the official Destiny 2 KZread channel (@destinythegame) has uploaded some in game cutscenes and trailers for other languages. It's not exactly what you're asking for, but I thought I'd mention it
I get honkai 3rd vibes from this, while from English Witness I get some evil God vibes.... for japanese witness I'm just like: KEVIN, probably because of finality Final Shape...
Might be on the same level as English!

Yeah as fun as this is the witness so rarely puts enough emphasis behind its words that it absolutely does in English that it just feels disappointing
Do you guys actually know these different languages or do you just listen to the tone/inflection?
I like the japanese witness voice, due to the fact that it could have the idea that the witness found one perfect voice for its being, rather than the fruit bowl of voices in the english version

With the English va, you can always hear his main voice. It's the deepest, clearest segment of it.

Ain't no way people say the English sounds better 😂 he sounds like a total bih in English, he was never threatening or scary y'all are just children. At least in Japanese his voice has some weight behind it

The witness was never supposed to sound scary, it was supposed to sound composed. It was almost tranquil, specifically to contrast the moments where it gets angry. The witness' voice and cadence was a subtle and quiet way of telling you how it operated without outright TELLING you how it operated first. It gave the gamers the time and tools to get this character before we got the heavy exposition in game.
