Now, instead of loving this show as you should (tell me you wouldn't love this show if all of the characters had a different name, and it called itself "Conjunction of Worlds") ... you damn it for not living up to the books. You're damning a show for not being exactly true in 16 hours total ... to 160 hours of reading. Lord of the RIngs ... I watched the movies first, THEN read the books. That way, I got severe enjoyment from both - even though the movie take severe liberties with the books. Always watch the TV show/movie first ... then you get pleasurable surprises as you read! :)

@@jazzx251 couple things, I read the books years and years ago, was I supposed to hope a tv show would be made before reading them just in case? That logic is incredibly flawed. Secondly, I genuinely went in to judge the show as its own product because adaptions always suck, but the show is terrible. The writing is horrible, it went from a gritty universe with few ups to some fantasy wonderland where we get slow motion shots of geralt and yennefer kissing while fighting, it's cringey. And with season 2 it's got to the point that it's not even trying to adapt the source material, heavy references to the games even though they show runners said they wouldn't do that plus this is far before the games in timeline, killing off integral book and game characters because the show runners said it would be less predictable, same logic used in S8 of GoT btw. Changes to monsters, adding Baba yaga randomly, yennefer being a completely different character altogether, vilgefortz being a joke rather than an incredibly powerful wizard, vesemir harming ciri, trash dialogue, the grey of the universe becoming a stark black and white instead. The show sucks, regardless of whether you view it as its own product or an adaption. Have you read the books? If not read the chapter with shrike and then watch the episode, it's not even close, they even changed the names for some reason.

She was simply briliant and she has great chemistry with Cavill both of them were perfect this season.I was thinking Freya is just a hot cookie but she also has legit talent.

Honestly I feel like if she just watched some of the scenes of ciri in the games it could give her some added perspective. I know Henry is there to make sure it stays loyal to the books and games but I would hope the other actors would want to know their characters more.

But I think Anya Chalotra looks "older" than her age, at least in the movies and Freya Allan "younger" than she actually is. Though I read the books and Yennefer, because she is a sorceress, she always looks young. Henry Cavill is about 70-80 years old in the books or more, so in the series as well... I assume. And acting is amazing.

So I recently finished Season 2, and oh my goodness, it exceeded my expectations and then some. And I have never been more excited for Season 3 by a longshot. Credit to them for clearly doing a far better job the second time. Ciri + Geralt's blossoming relationship was a treat to watch.

I like to rank book/game adaptations by how the movie/show is done overall by how faithful it is to the source material because lets be honest, no matter what the source material is, theres ALWAYS going to be SOME form of liberties taken with tweaks in the story here and there. With that said, this was better than a lot of other adaptations i've seen so while it's not 100% faithful, which is a fool thing to hope, it was fair.

I've been reading the books - she's going to have some awesome fight scenes next series ...

people were a bit harsh with her on season 1, but not much people has taken in count that it wasnt realy her the problem, she just didnt had much to do. She played ok i guess, i would clearly put more the "issues" on the pacing and script rather than her, that beeing said i like the S1 it was realy cool, just the FX were a bit cheap sometime but overall it was enjoyable. But the season 2 and considering the pandemic and all, wow they did an an amazing job expecialy on the FX department ! But acting wise, she gave us i think i more than pretty good ciri, i enjoyed her interaction with more people and she did some good scenes. She clearly had more occasion in S2 to well, act, and show that she actualy can. Also prety nice chemistry between her and henry, its a bit weird on interview she seems a bit detached, maybe she is just distant or so, but its strange because sometime it feels like a bit lack of passion, that is highly strange because she seems to put a lots of effort in the serie, i mean you cant act that well and have a ood final rendering like that if you are not at least a bit invested in what you are doing

Season 2 was excellent. Lots of monsters and a linear storyline. My only gripe was that Geralt didn't say "Fuck." enough. I think the funny Geralt F-bomb compilation KZread vids touched someone's nerve. 🤣

Hopefully this story help more people realise that most critics coming from people who pretend that they want them to "follow the books" are actually fake. Every single person who complains about Eskel and pretend it's "because of the books" is actually revealing that he come from the games and maybe didn't even really read the books. Eskel is a side character barely ever mentionned in the books. He become relevant ONLY in the video games.

Before season one I remember seeing the question, "how do you make a witcher?" "Okay, dig this: you take Superman, and beef him up some more."

Now, I am NOT a gamer. Im a genX Mario/Sonic Nintendo player from my childhood. That’s it. I’m a Whole Foods tot’n, Target, Starbucks conservative middle aged female homemaker. @@BadDubII He played Witcher 3 and read the books before he was cast for the show. One can imagine that he did it in between projects, whereas Freya would have to do it during the shoot. As Henry and Joey Batey said in another interview, you don't really have time off on set, so all of them might not really have time to play video games while shooting.

@@incognito4267 There is no such thing as "adult Ciri", this actress is already about the same age as the oldest version of canon Ciri in real life, and with one to two years between each season, she will be older in long before they have to show this version of Ciri in the story. Changing actress could be a huge mistake.

Don't think Freya is suited to play a massive open world like the Witcher 3 though :) If you are into Clash of clans on a mobile, I just don't see it. I could be wrong, but unlikely.

i see so much of maisie williams in freya. her off screen mannerisms and responses are so alike.

Very beautiful actress, however a bit foolhardy going into a role without brushing up on all sources of a role she's playing lol. I mean for real, when does an actor/actress often get to play a role that there is an incredibly immersive and interactive video game for. The amount of perspective and insight that the game could give her in the role she's playing could have a very profound effect on how she approaches most if not all her scenes. Why not take advantage of such a valuable resource?

I think if you compare her season 1 self to her season 2 self she already improved quite a lot on the badass aspect. She is a very young actress too and at this point in her life, even just 1,5/2 years between each season can mean a LOT to the actress in terms of physical changes and acting improvement too, so there is that.

She’s a good/ok actor don’t get me wrong, but it seems like it’s just another job to her. She hasn’t got the soul and love for the Witcher series that is made ever so more prevalent by Cavils immense love for it. He is an absolute legend

It is understandable I think. Henry has been a fan of Witcher before the Netflix's abomination came about. I wish the showrunner was someone who actually read and wanted to honour the books. I was kinda hyped when I saw Tomasz Bagiński will be working on the project. He was involved with the games and also won some awards for short movies so people were generally excited to see him work on the Netflix series. I've seen his recent interview with Sapkowski. He basically spit in the fans' faces and said "Well if you don't like our series, go and film one yourself" which I find to be a pathetic comment and shows that only thing they care about is money. I'm not suprised at that, just disappointed at a wasted opportunity. Been a fan of Witcher since elementary school and it is just sad to see what they've done with it.

@@Arczikens She did read the books tho and if you listen to her on a regular basis, you will realise that she objectively know more about the Witcher than pretty much 90% of the so called fans. It seems like people just can't realise that you can't translate a book into a TV show and keep it intact. This just does not work like that.

Upon review of my comment I think she’s got a lot of weight on her shoulders. She’s playing my favourite character in the series and I had a lot of expectation from her and I’m forgetting how young she actually is.

They changed so much from the books. All the casting is great perfect. However the changes are really hard. The last wish is one of the best books ever.

Casting is great? What are you on about? They fucked up the casting majorly in most cases except for maybe Geralt, Djikstra, Tissaia and a handful more.

I think that is just from her perspective. Her role in S1 was very "damsel in distress"-y, if you know what I mean. Not much dialogue, mostly just running around in the woods and/or getting kidnapped. Probably not that exciting to show to your friends and family.

She compared the witcher games with clash of clans… so cute 💀

Season 2 felt like a build-up for the next season. Somewhat slower paced and more on the character development side. Now the sad part is we gotta wait another year for S3 and manage not to die before that.

dude if you’ve never played a video game it’s really hard to start and the witcher games are long as fuck it is a huge commitment. This is her job as an actor it’s not her job to play video games lol

The vast majority of actors know next to nothing about the franchise they act for, especially compared to hardcore fans which a franchise like the Witcher is bound to have. Reading the books would be a more important step than playing the games anyway. Video games Ciri isn't canon.

Cute girls rarely spend time playing Videogames. They are a good minority. Most look at them as childish others are too extrovert to be sitting playing games. Is just as silly as these girls spending hours on the phone and texting crap all day. They just don’t see how lame that is. At least playing games is an actual hobby.

Tbh I know a few girls and women that stay away from some games and keep it on the downlow in public due to how many men and boys sending constant unnecessary messages.

Just shut up. All of weird compliment and starry eye. That's the reason why Henry don'ts interview and promote with other cast in this season.

The show went far off the source material. They said they are planning on 6-7 seasons and they are already almost into the last book. I get they could always do a flash back season, which would suck, but I have no idea where they are going with things. Also vesimer was reduced to a chubby, whiny, and inept Witcher.

Well, I watched the adaptation of "Wheel of time" and since then I appreciate the Witcher way more :))

Why does it feel like there's something off now when Freya is talking about Henry? Last time, they were like... uhmmm. sticky eyes of some sort????

In the first season, Freya was really nervous for interviews and Freya spoke to Henry about this. He gave her some and advice and helped her along. So I think the eye contact previously was Henry watching over Freya.

So far I have nothing to say against her performance but goddamn she better start reading those effin' books or something because her character is about to get deeper in the upcoming seasons. If you watch the interviews with the cast EVERYBODY and I mean everybody knows what they're talking about when it comes to their characters. They read the books, they did their research, they dug deep, I mean simply put they know, they f*** know and you can see that. She's clueless, it seems she's there just for the hell of it, for fun. I can understand it's exciting and all (who would have thought) but you have a job, you've been given THE MOST important role in the whole franchise and what I saw by far is just a little girl having fun like it's shopping day. I'm not saying she's got to play the games, no way, that would be plain crazy to say. BUT the books though. AT LEAST the books, lady. Read them for fuck's sake or you're gonna do a shitjob

Unpopular opinion: I don't really like her. Casting her was kinda fine. She gets the job done. But from a personal point of view, we can see that she is freaking young, she already got very fast onto fame and learned the hollywood wat of communicating. She is a well done product of entertainment but not a lovable genuine down to earth person. She knows what to say when to say but she is just........a created celeb

Way to dismiss a young star. You see an entitled young starlet getting the kind of opportunities you barred yourself from in life - so you reduce yourself to sniping at other, more successful, people on KZread. Typical of those who hide their own inadequacies with jealousy. Freya has shown that her casting was actually genius. In season 1, they needed a teenager to run around looking scared all of the time. BUT - in season 2, she needed to be an action star - somebody that could believably kick your arse ... and the actual star of the show in every episode. They chose well - she is PHENOMENAL! ... and the camera loves her face in season 2, her closeups (of which there are many) induce goosebumps! And - she's a young British actress ... There is no such thing as a "diva" among modern british actors - not even Henry Cavill, who is the best Superman since Christopher Reeve. Every one of them never takes their popularity forgranted - and .. ... well. Arseholes never get to work again, so you better be nice! :))
