The Witcher's 35% Rotten Tomatoes Top Critic's Score Proves They are Irrelevant | Audience Score 93%

Ойын-сауық

The Witcher's 93% Audience score as opposed to the 59% critics score is one thing, but the truth behind the 35% (at time of recording) is another. Members of the Access Media (inventors of the term Toxic fandom) admitting they gave a negative review to a show they didn't entirely watch. As the divide between the fans and the access media gets wider, Rotten Tomatoes still has one purpose to serve. Exposing the professional toxic access media critic's hypocrisy.

Both toxicity and passion exist. There are a lot of people who hate stuff just to feel superior and/or better because they have "higher taste" even though they've never tried said something. Disliking something is not toxic. But being a class-a asshole that shoves their own opinions down people's throats while dismissing everything the other one say is not passion.

It does take a few episodes to really distinguish that the three personal stories are in three different time periods, with Yennifer's story starting decades earlier than Geralt's adventures while Ciri's story is happening at the 'present time'. Other than that, what is really confusing? Game of Thrones had way more factions, geographical locations and characters to remember and no one complained about it...

I don’t get why they’re pissed anyway, it was great but still followed the usual woke aspects, just not a saturating pounding the viewer - level. 30% of the show is badass Geralt, the Witcher, and the other 70% is strong female witches. Every single relationship is interracial. There’s the ‘evil colonialism’ quips/parallel to the elves. The first eclipse girl, skinny as hell (Beatrix?) - is nearly Geralts equal in combat. They have the evil man quip in the pilot in the bar, “I see evil” etc. Another evil man quip with the lioness queen - an old mans rule (wedding dinner). The lioness queen, fighting right on the front line, not in the back to give orders..... I mean I wanted more Geralt, it was like a 30/70 ratio to strong women. What are they bitching about?

Witcher 3 on the other hand was not only highly anticipated all around the world but also gained praises after release (something games these days struggle because of their broken launches and shitty business models). The only time a fan is "toxic" is when they go and attack the actors and people working on the products themselves, which isn't cool in any way shape or form. NO FAN should EVER send threats to people, even if they don't like the product. With that said, most fans are not toxic or haters, they're people who have legit reasons for disliking something, and if they're vocal about it and explain why, we should respect them for their opinion. The same goes for those who like something that we may not, we should respect their opinion.

That's like watching the first 10 minutes of a movie, then walking out and coming back to watch the last 10 - Then having the gull to call it terrible! Even if the show is not their taste, it's they're requirement (via professionalism) of seeing the entire thing through - To undertand and experience the whole of it and thusly give it a thorough review. These people should not be critics and they communicate like children with their opinionated nonsense from their mental high horse. Reminds me of the sjw's who gave the writers crap for making Yennefer beautiful in the show, instead of keeping her as an ugly hunchback... Claiming that it's a "bad message" for women to think they have to be beautiful to gain something. The stupidity is mind-boggling. Critics aren't supposed to be fans, teyre supposed to reviev from a neutral perspective, wether the show is good for a non witcher fan, even for someone who is not a real fantasy fan. Therefore a difference in score between critics and public is to be expected: people who leave audience scores tend to be self pre-selected genre or franchise fans. Also, many fans tend to actively overrate a product if they feel the critics gave an insufficient score. I personally would have been suspicious of the critics if their score had been less then 20% below the fans....

With the Internet being the main source of information, KZread, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, people are no longer dependant on professionals giving them a recap of a new show or movie, since all they have to do is watch Trailers, Interviews, sneak previews or postings from the actors involved to get a really good understanding of the source material, even before watching the show itself. After that, literally anybody could go on their computer and write a comprehensive review or post a detailed KZread video. @willl 88 Personally i love the game. If you like RPG games chances are you will like it. This is a good, well-written open world. NPCs remember you and your actions do have consequences, unlike Dragon Age Inquisition or Mass Effect Andromeda , where you had the impression that your choices mattered but nothing ever really did matter. In TW3, your choices matter, the story may look simple at first, but it gets more and more intricate. You will also get involved in matters of state to the point it gets real game of throne like, where your actions and decisions will determine who rules in what countries. Side quest make sense, as you are not doing a world end plot (at least not in the beginning) so it makes sense for Geralt to move away from the main quest and do side quest like monster hunting or searching for crafting diagrams for better gear. I have played the games at least 4 play through and every time i discover something new. Even if you aren't as familiar with the characters, the game gives you all the details you need to know who they are.

Admittedly the 'reviews' would still come out on release date, but at least after being able to experience the full product. Perhaps TV-critics can take a hint from that system, it would mean more content for them and they could still get something substantial out on release date.

He slays monsters for coin and uses two swords one specifically for killing monsters. Sounded good to me! I enjoyed the moments we had with Geralt. Would have loved to see more Geralt vs monster. Too much Political Wizard Mumbo Jumbo for my tastes. I can understand if they wanted to set up the world in the first season for everyone but Henry Cavil as geralt is really where the show shines for me. The Bard and him had some good moments but the show definitely needed more monster slaying. We would on occasion of the show see the aftermath of one of Geralts monster hunts and not the hunt itself. I realized at some point that I was watching two different timelines which through me for a moment. They gave us the backstory for Yennifer which I liked. I enjoyed the scenes where the young mages were in training. Honestly didn’t really care for Ciri and her story. However her and Geralt are linked so maybe it will become more interesting in season 2.

I do agree first time I watched The witcher (with never playing the game before or reading any of the books) it was a bit confusing following the 3 timelines jumping back and forth. But after I started to get lost I figured I must have missed things, so I started again paying attention to all the details and figured out the different timelines and characters and all was good.

M H exactly, I still mainly enjoy the “review” part until it gets to “representation”, then she just appears to be pandering to whatever demographic is in flavour at that point in time.

the time jumps were definitely not handled as well as they could have been for the majority of viewers to understand. that was the biggest fumble for me... love the show otherwise

The books to read to tie in with Season 1 are The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny. Season 1 of the show drew heavily on these collections of short stories. They set up SO much for the main book series that I really consider them a must read before Blood of Elves.

My only serious issue that I noted from the first run through was the time jumps. For a while, I was confused but caught on eventually. Putting a notation of time skips would have been rather helpful to not getting the events mixed up. Other than that, I just wanted to keep watching it until then end and then I started yelling because I wanted the next season already lol.

There has been a disconnect with “critics” and the general audience, this had continued to be proven in 100s of movies and shows they have rated poorly and highly, they have opposite opinion compared to the general audience in almost ever case and clearly only want people to watch what they want you to watch.
