Something only people who read the book know about Renfri : She's Snow White. As in the actual Snow White. The Witcher Universe is where Faery Tales actually happened. But in this version, the Stepmother was supposedly "good" according to Stregobor. She possessed a magic mirror of the Goddess Nehalennia (an actual Goddess both to an ancient Germanic civilization and the Celts). The Mirror showed her that Renfri was going to burn the Kingdom to the ground one day. What it didn't show her, is that Renfri would do this and many horrible things because of what the Queen and Stregobor would go on to do to Renfri. First they tried a poisoned apple and Renfri's mutation saved her. Then Stregobor sent a Huntsman. He raped Renfri and then took "pity on her and set her free," she killed the Huntsman. Then, she escaped and joined a roadside Gang of 7 Gnomes and together they robbed wealthy people. The Gnomes ended up killing each other because they each wanted a greater share of the spoils. Renfri's powers include a Charisma that allows her to bend people to her will. Stregobor says that's why these men followed her even to their deaths. So the Gnomes may have been bespelled by Renfri's presence which led to their collective deaths. It's not confirmed but it is a weird way to die. Then, when Renfri tries to kill Stregobor the first time, he casts a weird sleep spell that turns her into crystal. He tossed her in a cave somewhere. But then some idiot prince found her and broke the spell (prince charming). She later killed his father by supporting a Coup (she had a seat in the Coup government). And she tossed prince charming into the dungeon. She has quite a biography Source : "The Last Wish," by Andrzej Sapkowski From the same book, Geralt gets pissed off at Queen Calanthe when she hires him to kill Duny at the feast for Pavetta. And he tells her he isn't a hitman or tracker. That an asshole Prince chased off a girl at the ball with his sexual advances. He tried to hire him to find her using her glass slipper. He tried to convince him to find a Huntsman to do it instead 😆. Andrzej Sapkowski is egocentric, but you gotta admit, he's an awesome storyteller. His books are awesome. I started reading The Last Wish maybe a week ago and I am almost done. Can't put it down.

I love that part of the books. I literally just finished Season of Storms audiobook, by far my favourite along with The Last Wish. Peter Kenny, the narrator, is so unbelievably good at his job

Damn nice, i didnt know about this happening even though i read the book, i wish renfri havent died, i kinda understand why Geralt didnt show her any mercy and he did warn her but he couldnt show his emotions because he is portrayed as an emotionless mutant even though Geralt had wanted her to live i think

@@Cuban20 She became evil because in the books Geralt gave her the option to walk away but she doesn’t listen. She allows her past and the treatment received from others to define her. In the books, Geralt doesn’t hold her. In the books, she lays bleeding out while Geralt walks away as a crowd gathers. She begs him to come back and hold him. When she’s done bleeding out, a dagger clings to the ground from behind her back (i.e. she planned to kill him up ‘til the bitter end of their fight).

1:45 You actually helped me realize that Geralt coming to the defense of Duny was probably was somewhat a result of what happened with Renfri, this guy is pleading that he is not a beast or how others in the banquet viewed him to be, but they went after him anyway, just like Renfri. Between a rock and a hard place, Geralt was forced to kill Renfri because she was too far gone in her own rage at that point. Geralt stepped in and saved Duny before another unnecessary killing took place, somewhat atoning for his failure to help Renfri.
