In the first Witcher finishing moves were in game and real-time, so there was no interruption of combat and game play flow. (at least not like in TW2 where a video was shown) From what I have read the witcher 3 is not going to do it like it was done in the witcher 2,like in this video. So, that should make many people happy,including myself.

Xemozazk From TW1? Yeah, neither system was perfect. tw1 it was in-game but still a canned animation. In TW3 it looks like we are going to have complete control of finishing moves and one huge improvement with combat in general is that total, free control, no longer will we be stuck in a long sword strike animation. Attacks, dodges and evades are completely interruptible this time around. This is a huge plus IMO and should change combat and movement and gameplay flow tenfold. The one finisher was shown uring the X-BOX e3 stage, cutting a deserter in half using a strong strike ( which looks to affect stamina/vigor while holding down the key/button) and we can assume there will be at least something similar for fast strike finishers. I wouldn't be surprised if each sword strike style - strong and fast, each had a handful of each of different, unique finishers. I hope at least, that would be awesome :) One step further - Each finishing type having upgrades.

Usually was best way to talent up Igni and just let everything burn (I accidently fucked up game few times to my eager "can burn everything" before I actually should burn it :D). Cant help it, but W1 felt more like RPG and was somehow actually even better game.. W2 feels like console game ported on PC and not in good way.

I just love the way you handled everyone and everything in your way. Good job, my good sir. Loved this clip!

This game is one of it's own kind and I love it as awhole and best RPG to date as of now! As for the armor I'm wearing it's purely cosmetic since I wanted to have Gerald wearing the starting armor in base game. ( My favourite! ) So yes this is indeed sighlty unoptimal build but it can be done defo.

I think it is the Hunter's armor that you get in Chapter 1. You have to complete the quest "Troll Trouble" and give the troll the 'Stuffed Troll head.' It's kinda weird that he still uses it.

I used Quen all the time on my dark mode play through, and rolled alot to avoid getting hit then just threw bombs lol

Ice Breaker this is the neutral save triss path not roche's path, you can still fight them if you sided with iorveth earlier. you're right about the Germans though!

if you are going to make a video of you playing of a certain difficulty..then i would advise opening the difficulty setting and showing it to everyone at the beginning of the video. and even still it can be faked with editing, but it at least helps people believe you.

Frankly speaking...in my opinion, not getting hit doesn't justify much on how skillful/good you are. I've always prefer being reasonably balanced in terms of how much you can take hits before you die. It gives a sense thrilling, struggling and intense moments whenever things will go your way or the other way around.

Aard sign or Samun bomb stuns the enemy and sometimes gives you a chance to do that kill

Combat system is ridiculous.

Dark mode? Lol this is set to easy even on normal bolts and fireballs do more damage and getting hit so much is just impossible. This Geralt is invincible on Dark mode this was game over thrice what a joke.

Also, your game was definitely modded and/or NOT in Dark mode. You were able to take 6-7 hits from knights without a dark armor set and survive.

likahmac yup, it is all depending on you bild up, you need all the damage resistance bonus skills mexed, the backstab reduction damage and strengh mutagens that gave you armor an vitality. in that way you can survive longer

I prefer Witcher 3 combat mechanic much more and without signs and bombs bullshit. It is even more fun than Dark Sols for me, just to keep close to enemies to avoid these stupid looking pirouettes that Geralt tending to perform when enemy is far from him. I did not played Witcher 2 due ot its awkward looking sword combat comparing to Dark Souls but Witcher 3 sword combat is really fun.

Or do you really think i have to be a professor to prefer timed and directed attackmoves embedded in realistic combatmovement and blockmechanics over single attackbutton-spamming? Nowadays videogames are more in line with the consumer than the creative ideas of the developement team to suit everyones "trendy attitude", hence they have to support the lazyass couchpotatoe attitute to give consumers the feeling of doing something, when they actually do not. Now we reach the point when you have to call me an elitist for enjoying games that challenge me and i can learn from.

Button smashing? Hardly... Maybe people who don't understand the combat mechanics in W3 button smash, but skilled players know button smashing will get you killed in a matter of seconds on death march. Compared to W2, the combat in W3 is much more fluid and realistic. There is a time and place for each move and simply trying to spam fast attack or signs won't work.

Too bad the combat mechanics on The Witcher 2 are complete shit.

They're too flashy, impossible to control which exact animation you're going to get on the fast attacks, and way, way too reliant on rolling... but I definitely wouldn't call them "complete" shit. What games do you consider have superior combat mechs, and why?

urbium actually the animation is controllable, you just have to get the right angle of hitting the enemy, like to trigger the spin attack which I believe it deals highest damage in fast attack, you need to get about 45 degree in front of the enemy on the left side by you

If you only roll around the battlefield trying to do that specific animation, then you should know why this game's combat mechanics suck. Also, it's not 100% guaranteed that Geralt will perform that animation. Sometimes he stabs or performs a quick slash attack which leaves you exposed.
