"The Windup Girl" A worthy successor to William Gibson? Bacigalupi spoiler free review and ranking.

Ойын-сауық

Tonight I review Paolo Bacigalupi's 2010 Hugo and Nebula Award winning novel "The Windup Girl". This bio-punk dystopian future novel has often been labelled as a worthy successor to William Gibson. I provide a plot overview, talk to what I liked, what I didn't like, put it to the memory test and rank it on the Sci-Fi Shed Ladder.
As always, it's a pleasure spending some time with you in the Shed!

Ah yes, the Dosadi experiment, it's been like 30 years since I read that one. I might need to revisit it one day. You're really getting to know my tastes 😁

😂 ya it definitely needs suspension of disbelief - but this is a fantasy book with some dystopian sci-fi tropes. The author himself in interviews labeled it fantasy.

You're absolutely correct, that's the word I was looking for, it was a slip of the tongue. I blame it on the heat that morning 😁😁 thanks for pointing that out. 👍
