lyrics:
I walked across the green grass
To where I knew you laid
The way the sun was shining down
I only saw your shape
But, I need to tell you everything
Before it’s too late
That I don’t regret a single day
And you’re so beautiful
So take this part of me
Last in the middle
Making sure to breathe
One more time
The window
I saw you through the window
We locked eyes and the window
Was open, felt the wind blow
I saw you through it
How could I have known that
You wouldn’t come back home?
I sit down at the table
And I fiddle with the phone
I wish you were right next to me
Instead I’m alone
But, I’ll always have the memories
Of our life together
So take this part of me
Last in the middle
Making sure to breathe
One last time
The window
I saw you through the window
We locked eyes and the window
Was open, felt the wind blow
I looked in, and I felt you with me
Yeah, I felt you with me
When you waved your hand
I felt you with me
Sue, you’ll always be my girl
So take this part of me
Carry it with you
Wherever it leads
Don’t be scared
The window
I see you through the window
And when I sleep, the window
You’re here with me, the window
You’re in my dreams
The window
I see you through the window
And when I sleep, the window
You’re here with me, the window
You’re in my dreams
I feel you with me
Yeah, I feel you with me
When I close my eyes
I feel you with me

WOW: “I wrote this song a few days after the death of my grandma in June 2020,” says Ratboys’ Julia Steiner. “She didn’t have COVID, but because of the pandemic my grandpa wasn’t able to visit her in person at the nursing home to say goodbye. He ended up standing outside her room and saying goodbye through an open window. A lot of the lyrics are direct quotes of things he said to her in those final moments.”

I lost my wife in December 2020. Similar story to Julia's grand mother. My wife suffered a stroke before the pandemic but because of the pandemic we we're only allowed visits through a window. She suffered more strokes during the time in the nursing home and eventually passed on Christmas day 2020. Thank you Julia for such a meaningful song.

Idk how she can sing that song so perfectly live. Like I wonder if she had to practice not tearing up becauae I can't even listen to this song without getting emotional. Wasn't even. My grandpa but my friends grandpa who got covid in 2021 but we all called him grandpa and we would listen to music together and he loved the banjo. He was a good man. Thank you for writing amazing music

This mix of jangle pop guitars, a loud and noticable snare, and the slightly yodel like vocals made me think this was a song from 1990 when I was listening to it on the radio today. I thought this was Throwing Muses. This is really good.

"i wrote it in the summer of 2020, a few days after my grandma passed away. she was living in a nursing home, but, due to the restrictions of the time, my grandpa couldn't visit her in person and instead had to say his goodbyes standing outside, talking through the open window of her room. the song tells that story through his eyes, using many of his words, and it’s dedicated to anyone out there who’s had to weather loss in strange ways, to share the strength of love in spite of separation." Although I do think the idea for the song is good, this song and band is probably the most boring, uncreative, monotone band and song I have ever heard. Put up a side by side of maybe U2, Men at work, the who, the cure, nirvana and this looks like something my kids did in the basement and I had to grin and bear it. Wow, if this is all this generation has then I feel very sorry for you all.
