Yes ! It is . But don' t worry , be happy.
Rarely does a song combine graceful acceptance of death and genuine passions for life so perfectly like this one. And this is my favorite version. Many thanks.
RIP M. Michel Legrand, a Great French Composer 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
The original ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ , when Faye Dunaway was stunningly beautiful and Steve McQueen (RIP) was so handsome !! Classic remains classy even after decades.

Never fails to hit all my emotional soft spots. Please excuse me while I'm sobbing in a corner.
Out of all the versions I've heard of this song Alison Moyet does the most moving rendition. She sings it nice and slow with the emotion of an artist who understands the emotional depth of the song. With the orchestra backing her she uses it as a back drop unveiling a rich tone of a chapter that reflects the movie it came from.
Michel le grand and alison moyet means perfection
My english teacher used to play this song on an old tape player. He used all of his soul and emotion while singing and dancing it in class. He even used to draw circles on the blackboard to make us understand the deep meaning of the lyrics.I heard this song randomly on radio yesterday and this memory (which i didn't even know I had) came to my mind so spontaneously "like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind". I even remember his sad face as if he felt some kind of nostalgy while listening to this song. I can't explain why I commented this story. Sad memory but I'm glad I recalled it...

This musical performance makes me cry every time I see it. Like a sweet and long lost love we've never be able to see it again. Thank you for letting us see you.

Thanks Alison Moyet. Love the choice of footage of the original Thomas Crown Affair. Love the quality of Alison's voice for this song, often sung by men.

Wow, what an incredible version...
The imagery and poetry is beautiful. They don't make them like they used to.
Steve was the perfect actor for the movie. In fact HE IS THE MOVIE... Pierce Brosnan make a remake at 90´s but he didn't have the cool charming of Steve MCqueen. Alison Moyet sings beautifully.
Magnificent voice, beautiful lyrics and a haunting tune, what more can you ask for?
This tune from: The Thomas Crown Affair is such an emotional one. Alison perfects this emotion so well. She has a sad but sensuous voice. How could Steve McQueen resist her charms. I wonder!!!! ... Beautifully sung. She’s a class act in her own right.
This interpretation of the song is my favorite. So melancholy, and those strings, etc.! Wonderful.

@@RocketCalcutta As I said, I admire her singing voice greatly. I've heard her in a few interviews and, she swears a lot. As for the song, well, for me at least, Noel Harrison nailed it on the first take. The melody is haunting, but the singing is almost dialogue, and he doesn't try to squeeze every ounce of mystery from it. That's for us, and the lyrics give us plenty of scope. Moyet is trying to explain the mystery with changing intonation. She is telling us where to go. Personally, I don't like that. Just a personal view.
This is a masterpiece. It gives me chills down my spine every single time I listen to it. So thanks The Grand Tour. How could have I've missed this my entire life?

amazing rendition of this song - haunting! And we certainly miss Steve!
This makes me fall in love and wishing for that moment in time to be here forever. They had the best chemistry in the movie.
The poetic lyrics really capture the inner chaos of grief and sadness after the end of a great love.
Hello FotDis, Today, a bit more than 10 years ago you posted this - Is the first time I listen to this version of such a wonderful song! I already love Alison's ART, have followed Ms Moyer here and there, for the last 40 years, yet the first time I hear this one. Oh, My...oh Lord, I love the darkness of the picture, or shall I say the brightness less of black and white...which makes it even more sombre than what we feel. Steve McQueen, does it with his fingers, face and hands, I love the Cuban cigar any time, but... ALISON MOYER still is the wonderful Goddess of the Windmills of my Soul. AMEN (Zenkiu!)

King of Cool definitely .... King of Class absolutely ....x
Round Like a circle in a spiral Like a wheel within a wheel Never ending or beginning On an ever spinning reel Like a snowball down a mountain Or a carnival balloon Like a carousel that's turning Running rings around the moon Like a clock whose hands are sweeping Past the minutes of it's face And the world is like an apple Whirling silently in space Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind ! Like a tunnel that you follow To a tunnel of it's own Down a hollow to a cavern Where the sun has never shone, Like a door that keeps revolving In a half forgotten dream, Or the ripples from a pebble Someone tosses in a stream Like a clock whose hands are sweeping .... Keys that jingle in your pocket Words that jangle in your head Why did summer go so quickly ? Was it something that you said ? Lovers walk along a shore And leave their footprints in the sand Is the sound of distant drumming Just the fingers of your hand ? Pictures hanging in a hallway And the fragment of this song Half remembered names and faces But to whom do they belong ? He: when you knew That it was over You were suddenly aware That the autumn leaves were turning To the color Of her hair ! She: when you knew That it was over In the autumn of goodbyes For a moment You could not recall the color Of his eyes ! Like a circle in a spiral Like a wheel within a wheel Never ending or beginning On an ever spinning reel As the images unwind Like the circles That you find In the windmills of your mind !

Why did you write "it's" instead of "its"?

@@mackshima3259 t's is a contraction and should be used where a sentence would normally read "it is." The apostrophe indicates that part of a word has been removed. Its with no apostrophe, on the other hand, is the possessive word, like "his" and "her," for nouns without gender.
