The setting of neighbourhood is lovely, especially their house.
I love him, so so funny. Life was funny back then. Freedom RIP
Brilliant writing and acting, and Art Malik's scene was perfect. Will need to watch this again a few times, am grateful this is available.
Lol the British never disappoints 😅😅
The speech at the funeral had me laughing out loud 🤣
Thank you for this! I saw it when it was first broadcast and searched for it ever since. I particularly wanted to hear the ending song....remembered from when I fell in love with it as a child. Hearing it again I am surprised how well I remembered it. It has been stuck in my head for decades and it was so great to finally listen to it again. It is such an eerie but pretty song with some elaborate key changes.

Same story, but I watched it on Russian TV! Was it 20 years ago?
Thank you so much for this. I missed it on original broadcast, but a week or two later I started going out with a girl who'd seen it, loved it, kept quoting it, made me read the books... As a result I've been checking KZread for this for about ten years!
1:22 I love Alison Steadman. She plays disagreeable to perfection-with adorableness!
I live in the Us so I haven’t known about this show. I find it hilarious though dark in some respects! Now on to part two!
This is amazing, great actors, And proper British humour

I've been waiting for someone to upload this for ages! Thanks very much. I remember when it was first on, when I was about 13. Although - I was totally convinced it was originally broadcast in 1992, not 1994. Shows how memory can mislead you. I think this was Robert Lindsay's first big TV show since doing GBH in 1991.
Thank you so much for this, it is pure gold. I think I might just have to watch it twice the acting is so good!

Wow, cast of my fav people! What a treat!
When they're in the pub discussing Everett Maltby, the Wimbledon Poisoner, the doctor asks, "I wonder why he did it" and Henry replies, "To liven things up I suppose". I see what they did there...killing people "livens things up", very paradoxical.
Thank you.
Brillantly funny!!
I read the book years ago so I was eager to see the screen play, I watched it the first time around and was impressed. It still holds up though some may niggle at the lack of sensitivity, but eh, anything that brings a smile is good with me.
Alison Steadman throws one of the best purple fitted tantrums on screen imo.

The Wimbledon Poisoner (TV Mini Series 1994) / 6.3 Henry Farr, a mild-mannered lawyer in London, decides to murder his overbearing wife Elinor to end her bullying. His attempts to poison her backfire, leading to escalating events.
😅 blimey. !!!! Hilarious!!! Monty Python would be proud and amused!!!!!!
Of course Citizen Smith x
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

Alison Steadman is gorgeous.
As much as I enjoy discovering new things with Robert Lindsay I haven't seen yet, I'm still surprised and annoyed by how much cringy slapstick he has done over the years. I saw him first in Hornblower where he was this great, dignified Captain, but it seems that truly was his peak performance back then 😣
