One show this year completely blew me away, and I fully didn't expect it to become one of my favorites of the year! It also happens to be based on a movie I hated...
In this video, I discuss some of the biggest (and my favorite) film-to-TV adaptations -- in other words, successful movies that were then turned into TV shows, and why this new Mr. & Mrs. Smith series defies all categorization to become an unpredictable blast of a show!

Nice video, maybe try revising the script, you tend to repeat some facts twice like on 1:30 (2 years)or 3:37 (not a true story) you could condense them in shorter sentences to avoid repetition, also you could maybe try showing some things instead of telling them, like the buffy movie or maybe a segment of the Mash soundtrack, as long as you have the footage or music available, you seem passionate about what you re talking about, hope you the best

Hey guys! Though I didn’t include all the possible movie to TV adaptations, feel free to drop any below that you like that I didn’t mention! Like I know Miami Vice is a big one though I haven’t seen that movie yet. And did you know they made Snowpiercer into a series with Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, and Sean Bean?!

I'm pretty sure this is a reimagining of the Mr. & Mrs. Smith TV Series from 1996

If you look at the credits at the end of an episode, it’s clearly said to be based on Simon Kinberg’s script for the 2005 film. 😊

Hey, nice video. I suggest you do more video loops, less face time. Not that you're ugly or anything, but its more visibly interesting to have the video loops. See how Scene It does it. Keep it up, keen to see how you get on.

@@filmtoppings another good example is The Critical Drinker. He doesn't do ANY face time, just short video loops. Check him out.

both the gentlemen and mr and mrs smith are adaptations in name only - they could have used other names and the shows would have stood on their own.

Absolutely. The Gentlemen has a few of the same ideas and stylistic aspects but isn’t just a carbon copy. And Mr. & Mrs. Smith is something COMPLETELY new.

It’s not technically based on a film but on a book by Patricia Highsmith that was also adapted into a movie

I thought the Mr. and Mrs. Smith show was terrible. They take jobs working for a covert ops company without knowing anything about them or even question the possibility that they are the "bad guys". The missions they get sent on are ridiculous and make no sense. "Hey, go drug this guy and interrogate him..." They don't even tell them what information they want! So stupid. A successful mission could have been. "We drugged him, and found out his favorite color is blue..." . And most of the missions were that stupid. Sure you can argue that that isn't really the point of the show, but when the basic premise doesn't make any sense, everything else falls apart. There is a complete lack of verisimilitude and it fall waaaay short of what is considered a "quality" show in this day and age.
