The WILDEST Eurorack Delay: SOMA LYRA8-FX Demo

Being a demo of the totally bananas Eurorack Delay module that is the SOMA LYRA8-FX, descended from the almighty LYRA to bring liquid flange and self-modulated hellfire crunch to our modulars. LINKS IN DESCRIPTION ↴

What I really like about your vids is that even in the midst of crazy freakouts, there’s still always some sense of musicality behind it. It’s more “art” than most straight up demo type videos. But what I don’t like is how much your videos always end up costing me! 😜

Having watched this, it is a great video. There are three delay modes on the Lyra 8 - "straight" (no modulation), hyper LFO modulation and self modulation - I spend 95% of my time experimenting with the first two, but you make the self modulation sound really cool here!

That is wild. Something you might like is the Red Panda Tensor. I waited a long time for it to be in stock and it was well worth the wait. Kind of takes me back to the time when everything was new and novel to me - like the day many years ago when I got my first delay. The tensor is kind of similar to some of the sampling devices in eurorack - but also sort of delightfully simple/constrained. Best effect I've purchased in ages.

Hey man, loving the videos! It'd be cool to see you doing more building bits, in fact a video I'd enjoy is you going through all your modules and choosing 3-4 for a minimal but versatile rig (or whatever you'd use a 3 or 4 modules for given you have so many options) and then a larger more focused one like this video (But it is your channel so do as you please!). Keep up the good shit

I was wondering if I can use the lyra8 fx module like a guitar pedal and use any external sound source like synth/ drum machine into it? Or do modules only work in a eurorack ? New to the modular world!

Meant to ask this on one of your earlier videos, but are you running everything through the AH and RNLA as a matter of course? Is that for flavour or just to keep a handle on the levels? Or both? I do basically the same thing (Heat on the master and into an RNC) and it's pretty sweet, just wondering if that's a thing you do on all your videos now.

Not as a rule at all, but I wanted to try it on the live rig (see next upcoming vid especially) - it’s ideal to take as little as possible to gigs as you’ll know but then it’s also really nice to have a bit of a ‘mastering’ polish - Noticing that on the Digitakt, when you make your pattern it sounds great, but when you add the built in compressor, it’s like, oh, yes that definitely is better.
