Its been confirmed that military smugling occured by military and customs, look up "Uppdrag Granskning Estonia 2004". This revalation came 10 years after the sinking and an investigation in to the matter only confirmed the two times the whistleblower knew about and they never investigated if smugling occured on the last voyage. The task was very narrow formulated and didnt allow the investigation to look up foreign nationssmugling on the ferry or use of civilian vehicles, that we know as a fact happend "Ericsson" owned cars driven with false names. The whistleblower under order from the top wanted him to let thorugh theese cars without a customscheck but he took a look inside and saw militarygrade electronics.

@@shipwrecksunday Thank you for getting international people aware of this. The MS Estonia is facinating in many aspects as a swede it is a national tradgedy and the sad truth is that the people in power knows what happend and oppose getting to the truth. I think it is simple- smugling on a civilian ferry with military equipment and a Soviet in decay and a emboldened west & swedes took a risk and something went wrong either with a cargo of explosives nature or sabotage to prevent the smugling from Soviet. This would be huge emberrasment for Sweden as the humanterian superpower, and is what it is today with some classified topsecret documents only to be realesed 70 years later, for the nations security. It would be better if they just said sorry but its a matter of the nations security and the relatives could get some closure.

There was no military components on Estonia at the time of the sinking, we know at what time this happened, also "smuggling" is a silly term this was preformed by the Swedish defence and was in full knowledge of the Swedish goverment.

@@mikaelsvensson345 this is simply ridiculous what was "smuggled" was Soviet electronics and technologies and some ground vehicle hardware not explosivs big enough to blow a hole in a ship,

@@shipwrecksunday there is no evidens that any of this was happening at the night of the sinking. We know when this was going on we know what was being transferred (by we i mean FMV and the Swedish goverment)

So in short, this ship was the Orient Express of Baltic Ferries - if managed by every Crime writer ever, instead of Cold War spies.

Nice video, slight correction however, the superstructure is all decks above the hull, so this would be about the blue stripes on here to the top deck, thanks!

Have been enjoying your episodes so far but this is simple ridiculus, you spend most of this talking about the conspiracies, but noting about all the realy interesting stuff, like how when the dived on the wreak the bow viser was missing how the looked and found it, how they investigated HOW it could have broken off, who was to blame, the origonal swedich PM talking out of his hat about raising her whit out knowing HOW MUCH that would cause and instead of explaning that he had been emotional and stupid when he said so brushed it off and made it seem like he had something to hide. The Estonian line covering up and refusing to admit they messed up the maintinence of the ship. Yet you spend time on the idea od a SUBMARINE colliding whit Estonia, telling on the big hole in the ship, that most likly was caused by the ship impacting the sea floor ripping the ship open, several marine engineers have looked at the pictures and said that it looks noting like an collision. Several people have made their living diving on the wreak pedddling conspiracies and causing untold greif for the families. Sweden took the sinking seriusly, alot of traffic happens on the baultic and the baultic countries where very new at operating large modern passenger vessels by themself. The investigation was thorough and proffesional, but NO ONE expected to have to prove every nonsensical idea dreamed up over the next 30 years, the bow fell of water enterd uncontrolably and the ship sank.

Hi there! First off thank you so much for your support! In this particular episode I wanted to describe the sinking as well as the conspiracy theories surrounding Estonia, especially given the Estonia documentary that came out and presented a compelling argument. There's a possibility for either side to be right, and I think with more investigation, we'd find the truth would lie somewhere in the middle! Thank you for your honesty, criticisms, and critiques - I appreciate your input greatly and it adds so much to the conversation! Cheers!

@@shipwrecksunday thank you, i do not know if you have been keeping up whit the investigation because so far the dives have been going on and have shown pretty much to confirm much of the origonal interpretation. I appolagice if I sound angry bur i know people who both died and survived from the ship, people who have been hounded by conspiracy peddlers ever since that first unauthorized dive on the wreak. The have been NO evidence presented that is credible other then the tear in the ships hull that several marine engineers including people from the Swedish navy have looked at picture of and have been mapping whit underwater 3d scanning and pretty much all say the same thing, that is almost guaranteed a result of the ship impacting the see floor, the ship sits on an up raised bit of bedrock while the bow and stern sit on mud. The reason the ship most likely sunk stern first is most likely a result of how the ship flooded as well of how the water enter the ship and moved the cars around on the car deck. There have been a lot of unauthorized dives on the ship, by people whit no real background in marine engineering or any real knowledge of marine collisions. Yet there ate alot of people who made a lot of money on that documentary. I'm sorry I really do apriciate your videos and podcasts, other then the occasional errors you make very good videos.

@@AdmiralLj I appreciate your knowledge and insight into this situation! I am not Swedish and have not seen the latest updates from the investigation. Maybe this year, I'll have to do an update! My intent is never to misrepresent situations, disrespect victims, or perpetuate rumors. This episode was merely a look into what I originally thought was compelling evidence, but we can always revisit with the latest evidence. I really appreciate you taking the time to look into this and correct errors on this video as well as others! No research will ever be perfect, and all we can do is continue to learn! Cheers, friend!
