A trip around the (shortened, due to weather) v5000 circuit at 'The Wild Epic Mountain Runs' trail running event in December 2023. Sadly there was no Vanguard Peak included this year as the wind reached weather-warning status the day of the event.
They still gave us plenty of trails to run on the day through. The loop was reduced to 75km with 3900m of climb - so still a decent day in the hills. The section replacing the climb over Vanguard Peak was swapped for easier, more runnable trails, which meant for some pretty fast times from the fast folk. I'm not one of them, so I trundled around nearer to the back shooting video and grazing the aid stations.
