The Whole Story: Matt Kenseth vs Jeff Gordon

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A lengthy rivalry that never got much press after 2007. These 2 definitely have a history.

    Usually when I see angry drivers they're taking gloves and the helmets off while they're still driving the car when their day is pretty much over.... so to see JG with his helmet still on was interesting. Jeff and Matt seeem to be the most polite, angry rivals I've seen.

    I love a good rivalry but I feel like most of this just boils down to both of them racing as hard as they can for the win and something happens. It's not usually someone's fault, they're just racing hard.

    The incident at Chicagoland is almost the exact same thing as what happened with Logano at Kansas last year. Jeff's post-race comments are even similar, talking about how Matt was blocking him.

  • @nascarfanatic2425

    @nascarfanatic2425

    Here was the difference, though: Joey Logano had more to gain than what Gordon did. Sure, they both got the lead out of the deal, but when Jeff did what he did, that sent the race into a GWC, which wasn't good for Jeff since he was really close on fuel. He also had an opportunity to wreck Kenseth prior to the actual incident, but didn't then. Logano on the other hand, he was good on fuel, and he could knock a rival out of the championship hunt.

  • @MaryandMocha

    @MaryandMocha

    7 жыл бұрын

    not to mention that Jeff even said he was sorry and didn't mean to get into him. What you fail to mention is Logano not only didn't say he wished he didn't get into him, but he said he deserved to get wrecked. On top of that he was laughing about it and never talked to matt. The next week at Talladega he brake checked Matt coming on to pit road right at the last second. Well guess what. That's going to get you wrecked. You can look back at NASCAR history and you always see guys getting paid back. Dale Earnhardt called it "driver code" and he was one of the best about talking to the other drivers after a race. Even if he ran through them. That kept Earnhardt from getting wrecked a lot over the years.

    As a Logano/former gordon fan, even I say, its not the same. The 2006 race was equitable: 2 drivers in the regular season both had the same to lose if they both wrecked. The 2015 race not: logano was locked in for the next round and Kenseth was not. It didnt matter to Logano if they both wrecked...And Keselowski added fuel to the fire by wrecking Kenseth at martinsville. If that doesn't happen Kansas is no-story event.

    Jeff definately has a dark side but I feel every single rivalry Jeff has had he never started it but he always finishes it which I feel is perfectly fine. You have to remember Jeff has been in the sport for a while he raced with Earnhardt Sr., DW, Rusty, and Spencer and that's how they drove Jeff is just old school same with Stewart Just old school drivers and some newer fans don't understand that and think they race dirty.

    And what makes you think Kenseth won't have two titles and 40 wins by the end of his career? He's one win short of 30 and has a very good chance of winning the title this year. If Kenseth had the cars and R+D that Gordon had in his prime, he could easily win just as many races/titles.
