I...am the Whistler, and I know many things, for I walk by night. I know many strange tales, many secrets hidden in the hearts of men and women who have stepped into the shadows. Yes... I know the nameless terrors of which they dare not speak!

39 episodes were filmed for syndication in the 1954-'55 season (featuring radio's Bill Forman as "The Whistler"). This episode was originally syndicated in March 1955.

I don't know how good this series is, but the movies with Richard Dix were great. Thanks for sharing.

Don 't need to show a murder to imply one was committed. I appreciate that. Very "O. Henry" ending.

Didn't know that tired businessmen regularly checked into 'sanitariums' for much-needed rests. Thought that 'sanitariums' were the nut houses where busy businessmen ended up after too many board meetings where they were blamed for all those business failures and were threatened with those pink slips that would do away with those ridiculously high salaries and drinking themselves silly wasn't solving anything and what to do with the nagging old lady and the spoiled, never- thankful kids. 'What window do I jump out of? Oh look, nice young men in those nice white jackets. But what are the butterfly nets for?' Maybe they went to 'sanitoriums' ?
