My biggest gripe about season one was the visual look of the weaving of the One Power. Nice to see that they seem to be making the different threads( Air, Water, Fire, Earth, Spirit) stand out and assigning them actual colors and not having them all look the same. Hopefully we will get to see some unique and interesting patterns and designs when characters channel from now on

Did you even read the books? Biggest problem was Moraine, that become too emotional, too knowing it all. That's one of the biggest changes, same as Lan and others. And that's the biggest problem. Visuals are for those who are here because they really have no taste or time. Once again, this show is a clear parody and an ego trip from Rafe Judkins.

Absolutely. There are so many wonderful moments in the story that come from detailed descriptions of what weaves are doing. I hope they get nice and complicated with it, over time. If they establish the basics well, it'll be a lot cooler when the characters learn to do more complicated and powerful stuff as the story goes on. If the weaves were all just generic white mist, everything looks the same and you wind up displaying growth by just making the characters glow brighter and brighter like it's Dragonball.

I read the books and I'm also mostly enjoying it. Some changes didn't work for me, but others I thought were an improvement over the source material. I like The Wheel of Time saga, but I'm not a fan of The Eye of the World and New Spring bored me to tears, so I understand some of the changes.

It's also why the show is already greenlit for season 3 before s2 is even released. The show did well & brought in many viewers, so it's not going anywhere, anytime soon. I'd hardly call that a "failure".

@@KabbalahSherry I'm somebody who hasn't read the books, but the TV show came across as really shallow, rushed and poorly executed. So talk for yourself on that one. The show was actually a failure based upon the numbers it brought in and its ratings, so while it might not go anywhere anytime soon, you certainly can't call it successful either. By any metric it hadn't met its expectations. Here's hoping season 2 is better.

@@hammerofscience534 That's just so demonstrably untrue. Like sure they made more changes than a lot of us were hoping for, and a few of them are hard to defend at best, but the overall essence of the characters and worldbuilding is definitely there. And there's lots of stuff that's more or less directly lifted page to screen. Eye of the World is just a really hard book to adapt, especially without an unlimited budget and while making a show with a consistent theme from the beginning (ensemble cast vs Rand PoV, etc.). AND THEN they got slammed by COVID restrictions, losing a main cast member, multiple rewrites, etc. As a huge book nerd, it's actually pretty good factoring things in, and there's no reason to think Season 2 can't be significantly better with a bigger budget, less production problems and books that are more representative of the series as a whole.

Wasn't the biggest fan of season 1. Moraine was fantastic though, and I am looking forward to season 2. When I first saw the actress who would be playing her I had my doubts. I was so wrong, she was the best part of season 1. She was amazing

The problem is she was TOO much of a part of Season 1. The analogy I've heard is that it would be like making an adaptation of Fellowship of the Ring and giving significantly more role to Gandalf than to Frodo. Moiraine is basically the Wheel of Time's equivalent of Gandalf, at least for the first couple books.

I read the book thereafter and was surprised to see Rand the main POV and the conflicting emotions towards Morraine was much better explored, so the young adult group seemed less angsty.

I’m not a prejudice person, but the book-to-screen change of making Moiraine and Siuan gay felt unnecessary and pointless. There are plenty of likable supporting characters in the books that are implied to be queer, so there’s no need or reason to go this extra length. I think the producers did this for either good press or to cash in on Game of Thrones. Any comments?

This has been one of my favorite shows. I love Rosamand pike, she has done such a wonderful job.

They spent MONEEY and definitely improved overall look of the show.

You're supposed to hate the Seanchan in the books and it's going to be worse here, they look absolutely amazing! So looking forward to this season, they seem to have upped the game by miles compared to the first season! ❤❤

Covid and lockdowns really did a number on completing the edition and production. Im hoping this helps them stand out but they also not have strikes. So i hope they now hold.off until the strikes are done so they can have writers on set and they dont use a.i. for any cgi

Too much of the narrative has to be left on the editing room floor, or not even told at all, and that never makes fans of the source material very happy. And you NEED fans of the source material enjoying these productions, cuz any bad word of mouth from them will spread like wildfire, and make some people choose not to engage w/the content at all. KEEPING THE FANS HAPPY - this needs to be the #1 priority of these streaming services & production studios, going forward!

@@ranazaeem27 its ten times better in nearly every aspect (still stray away as an adaptation tho), I can really recommend it to my friends now which I couldn’t after the end of S1. The first episode is kinda slow but has pretty solid nyn/liandrin/egwene characterization moments, episodes 3, 5, 6 and the finale were simply great and they are my favorite ones. Mat’s new actor feels right and is doing such great job. Josha is also doing a good job at playing Rand but I wished for stronger character moments and one of my biggest criticisms of the season is that it keeps downplaying Rand when he should be the main focus. I hated how non book viewers don’t seem to like his character and don’t understand how the whole thing weighs so much on him, and how his power is incomparable to anything we’ve seen before. The show tends to tell that to viewers rather than showing them what it truly means to be the dragon reborn. Perrin’s actor is another big criticism for me, his performance is definitely my least fav one, but I have my hopes high for when his character truly shines in S3. with that said, I really enjoyed the second season a lot more than the first and I did immediate rewatches to my fav episodes. I def think you should give it a chance. Hope u enjoy it and I would love to hear ur thoughts.

I had to seriously breakup with the book version and go through the mourning period and forget about the world in my mind in order to appreciate this series.

Yeah I completely agree. I'm starting to look at this as just a different version of the wheel of time, and I'm actually excited for season 2

I didn't expect Rand to meet Siuan after he left in season 1, but hopefully that means Lan is instructing him for the meeting, that was one of my favorite scenes lol Also surprising to see him talking with Logain, there was way too little of them in the books, could be an interesting change.

It's definitely a flashback. Siuan doesn't have her arm tattoos yet and they are both wearing blue (pre-Amyrlin). Also, Siuan's hair is short while Moiraine's is much longer.

I'm so sad the full theme doesn't play anymore. For season 1 I stayed every single time and watched the full theme play out before continuing the episode

I understand adaptation isn't direct from page to screen but some decisions were nonsensical and some were obviously to try and make some social commentary. It's pure entitlement to think your writers 'message' is more important than being faithful source material. season 2 formed up pretty well - storyline ez to follow for the most part, and like some of the action/magic scenes - the actress who plays Egwene does a good job, esp in some of the scenes in ep6, great acting.

I know this season was different from the book but I fairly enjoyed it. Literally all the characters and the visuals were all amazing. And I love how they put together books 2 and three, and even though they tweaked it, it’s still worked out.!!! The show is amazing and this is my favorite book series of all time. 7/10

@@hammerofscience534 Funny you've been spouting all over these comments about how this show is not at all like the books, and then you show how little you know of the books. A "weave" is a combination of the 5 powers (Air, Earth, Fire, Water, Spirit). Air is the power that is tinged yellow. A healing weave would be Air, Water and Spirit (unless you are Nynaeve), which would be a combination of yellow, blue and white. Lightning, as seen in the trailer, is Air and Fire, so a combination of yellow and red, and that is EXACTLY what you see being channeled if you pause at 1:18

Yes we are very lucky to have this much content out there and should appreciate the effort but also show when things go very very wrong, participation ribbons help no one and when one of the more successful fantasy books gets what was s1 its no different then throwing paint on a work of art in a museum and saying we should apreciate the vandals "effort". I just hope some of the other books i enjoy do not get this same "effort". Again this is to s1, s2 is yet to be seen fully.

The books are far more balanced when it comes to this issue and in the end it's made very clear that the men and woman have to work in harmony and combine their strengths to have a chance at winning. The show is clearly going down a different road and already giving some of Rand's biggest moments to the female channelers.

Some people hating on the music. I like it because wheel of time is supposed to be both our future and our past. As you can see by some of the costume choices and building architectures.

That's the whole point of fantasy, to take us out of our own world into another more magical one. So the music should enhance that feeling, like classical music can. @@LooseTheremin As much as I have my gripes with the TV show, the world of the wheel of time is absolutely supposed to represent ours in a different age - with our age likely being the first or 7th going by the stories mentioned by thom in book one. And ofc the events of the wheel of time play out in the third age. In fact I think showing aspects of our modern world / the age of legends throughout has been one of the few points they did very well indeed. Whether or not classical music would be better or worse for such a show is another question entirely, one I might even agree with. But the justification that it's of our world (whereas classical music is... also of our world) and therefore a bad choice is poor at best :D

I was completely unprepared for Perrins "battle" scenes in the finale...and I read the books. I had to take a minute before I could watch the rest.

Overload honestly, this is miles better than Seonson 1, Amazon don't you dare canel this please. The series has so much potential. Also where is fruit eating Alanna?? We need more Mat scenes also

It's not hate that gets a show canceled. It's alienating millions of people who read the series and dislike seeing what they love butchered. No one wants it to fail, but without enough of an audience they lose money and then it fails. If and when that happens, it will be because of the choices the showrunners made. At least we still have the books and audiobooks. I do hope Rosamund Pike does get to do all of the audiobooks.

I'm not seeing much that reminds me of that book - where is the woman Rand travels with in the book? Will he even make it to Cairhien? There's no place with sand until book 6 or something so the show is just going in a wildly different direction. Will Elayne show up at all since she was cut from season 1? She's supposed to study with Egwene, but since she hasn't even met Rand she'd be much less interesting in the show.

Yeah so much important stuff that lines up further down the series has been cut or redone is such a strange way. It's like the writers read the first 2 books and then got started with no proper idea of how things play out

Huge franchises that everyone knows about and break box office records tend to get around 1.2% like to view ratio. This is around 0.7%. It’s not fishy.

Awesome!! 👏 🕰️ 🐉 S2 looks visually much richer than S1 and the story seems darker and more in line with the themes of the books going forward (Rand’s struggle with the weight of prophecy + Shadow’s influence, Moraine’s / Aes Sedai struggle to control him, Egwene / Nynaeve’s arcs). CANNOT WAIT!

@@enkidumag Is it? I thought it was terrible. It was funny seeing them do set up shots and scenes to try and hint Rand is Aiel when among the wildly diverse cast he doesn't stand out at all, and the screen-writers don't understand that. So every time they tried to use shots and setup for that it was a complete failure and no one I watched the show with could pick up on it despite how hard they push it. Not to mention the stinted dialogue and the fact the main characters have somehow become Nynaeve and Lan who are just supporting characters in the first book.

Bravo season 2 was amazing and I can't wait for season 3👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I hope season 2 is better than season 1.

This is incredible, super excited about the egwene and the seanchan storyline, I'm going to have a hard time watching those scenes 💔

It was the season 1 that made me finally read the books... I'm just finishing book 7 and I know now how different the show to the books are but its alright i'll watch season 2 too.. Besides, the books can be frustrating but i seemed to kept on picking it back... Haha i guess i do want to see how things end.

@@battlebanshee8862 S1 wrapped filming in May and released in November. Covid did a number on the show, and having effectively no post-production time for the final two episodes is one of the ones people forget.

As someone who's never read the books, unlike GoT or LOTR, there's nothing to ruin for me here. Might do the same as last time and save it for a weekend binge watch.

Man, they spent so many millions of dollars just to have this be a pale shadow compared to the books. Rafe got so much wrong, on purpose.

I very excited about the chapter 2

Never watched the books, when this first came out I kept skipping couldn't focus on the story, gave up, but now after rewatching season 1 episode 1 at night time and not skipping I'm hooked.. I made a big mistake but atleast I didn't have to wait long for season 2!

I, who did not read the books, found season 1 quite engaging and am looking forward to season 2. …but the dark scenes are making me twitch. I hope the dynamic gamma on my TV does better than my phone did. Because … oof!

1 word to describe mental after watching this: Hype.

Unpopular opinion: this series is decent. I enjoy watching it. But, as a book reader, its so vastly different from the source material that it feels like its own thing.

Fullz agree. Just rewatched season 1. Enjoyed it, but the stories are only high level abstractions of the main plot points in the book. And some new elements of their own creation. But as a series it is nice, I just won't compare it to the books and am letting me be surprised.

Hope this builds on the good elements from season 1, and addresses some of the issues. I really liked a lot about the first season, especially the casting, but man it did not end well that last episode was kind of a trainwreck. But there is soo much potential here.

The visuals were quite good, messing with the story really screwed things up... quite a lot. It's hard to get past things like changing the Eye of the World (a pool of pure saidin meant to be used by the Dragon Reborn to even the odds for a time vs the Dark One) into one of the Dark One's seals that Rand accidentally breaks, and then giving his army shattering moment to a circle of women who burn themselves out and then somehow aren't dead. Or leaving out the Green Man. Or killing Loial. Turning Machan'shin into a whisperer of scary words instead of a singing ball of mad souls rushing to annihilate everything it notices. Or taking Nynaeve's power healing weave that is the culmination of her character arc and putting it into S1 when she has no training or development yet. Ug, I love Nynaeve's arc in the books it's the best. There's a lot that can still be corrected or reigned back in, seeing that they will have Rand duel Turak is a good sign, and Selene is obviously there. We'll have to see how it goes, I'd love it if they'd drop the "men, bad"/"women, good" stuff and get back to the true intent which is that both working together is what brings success. Apart and separated they are much weaker, with the problem being that no one trusts the male channelers not because they are innately evil but because the male power is literally poisoned. Jordan was great at showing how everyone believed and held to various forms of wrong information, and it ultimately takes the trust between the Emond's Fielders to overcome all of that and rejoin male and female channelers together where they always needed to be to come out victorious.

@@Kassadinftw You make valid points. Make no mistake; the first season was bad. I was being charitable when I said "I wasn't impressed." This show is on thin ice for me. It won't take much for me to stop watching it if it doesn't get any better. The Wheel of Time fan in me wants so badly to like this show, which is why I want to give the second season a chance.

I'm curious.... what part of this trailer made you want to see the 2nd season? I'll assume you aren't a book reader, or this show would offend you deeply, so what part of this, as a casual viewer, made you go "well S1 sucked, but this looks different"? Looks like more of the same crap to me.

It is likely that Rands journey will, in broad strokes, combine both book 2 and book 3. Him having a closer relationship to Selene would be fascinating. Let the Lanfear hype begin choo choo

Fascinating.... maybe.. but would also be a complete waste of screen time that could be better spent elsewhere. Lanfear, as a character, defined by the books, would get bored of Rand rather fast and leave till he gained some level of ambition... so i hope she is a traveling companion for about 1-2 episodes that annoys the hell out of Matt that Rand is getting the attention from a High Lady and she trys to guide Rand but fails because he lacks ambition so just leaves.

Every time I watch this I get more hyped for S2!

But prime video pls stop to give us every week just one episode❤️

Cannot wait! Wish each season was 24 episodes long. instead of 8.
