The Weird Abandoned Building on Lough Neagh?
I found a strange structure on Google maps on Lough Neagh, so I grabbed my Red Voyager MSL touring paddleboard and set off to see the weird building for myself.

That's the Lough Neagh to Belfast water mains inlet pipe. Goes to shore at Dunore point, then to Hyde park in Mullusk. Goes right along Aldgerove,s runway. Then into Mullusk. Best to stear clear of the Area. If you get Southerly winds on the lough you will see why. Short choppy waves frequency is away short than sea waves. Safer area is to go Western routes, old torpedo platform, Shane's Castle, Cranfield direction. Heading for Toomebridge. Safer shoreline.

Comedy gold if you’d continued to pull on the rope only to find it was the plug for the loch. “Might as well walk back to shore now there’s no water” 😂

Great adventure! I bought a second-hand RED board from a SUP adventure shop that was replacing all its gear-the board was only 1 year old, looks new and I have had some great times out on lakes and rivers. Fair play to you for being able to get your board packed back into the large bag it came with - something I have never been able to do!!🙄

The trick is to get all the air out of it first. Although I admit it took me a few attempts the first couple of times. Red make quality kit

in the middle of well-known Lough is a great place to hide NOTHING TO SEE HERE! it appears that some poor fisherman marked the lucky spot with his bleach bottle and brick and then never returned to fish again. great daytime excursion. thanks for taking us along.

😂That's my back yard Stephen. The metal platform behind Kettlebottom Island is a section of an old barge I believe. You can cycle to that spot too, there's a chairin a tree. I can sit there for ages.

I hope you tell your good lady and half a dozen relatives/friends where you are going and when exactly you will be back before you go on these wee mystery exploration jaunts Stephen!!! Do indeed! Ahh I wonder if that was what the first one was. Maybe. I’ve since wondered if maybe it’s a sunken barge. The water is only 5ft deep there

Is it not like a World War Two torpedo test site I was told anyway
@StephenJReid
9 ай бұрын
That’s the much bigger platform near the Antrim Loughshore park. In WWII it was used for testing torpedos. It’s now a protected bird nesting site. This platform is nearly 3miles away from that one
The platform was a missile launch platform used during the Second World War a friend has told me. Apparently used for missiles and torpedo launches.
