What would be really cool is if the seat had a scale of some sort in it, then you code up an Arduino or something to do some maths and automatically adjust the arm length for the weight of any person. You could also easily set it to have different presets to simulate gravity on different planets/the moon!

I love that just the installation of the lights on this thing would be something most channels would milk for 5 episodes worth of content. Not here. Here it's a straight cut to: "oh, by the way, I put lights on it because it was neat". It's amazing the amount of work that goes into these projects.

@1nvisible1 turns out it's easier to just bring a couple ladders instead of a massive counterbalanced human crane that lifts one person at a time. It also has to be transported and installed on the job site. and needs it entire radius of space free of obstrucion to function...to what get a single guy on a roof sort of quicker? You can also only work on spaces immediately on the circumference of the machine. He doesn't have full movement of the area. He can essentially only go in a circle so unless a roofer is working on some sort of tube that for some reason matches the exact dimension off this thing you'd get essentially nothing done Your idea would be a complete failure of concept and it wouldn't do anything faster. It would take longer need to be incredibly precise to the crane and be a financial loss The only reason he was able to make contact with the pallets and board was because they put them exactly where they needed to be and the end of the armatures reach. You will not find that on a job site you need to be able to move forward and backwards way more easily instead of being locked to a circle ⭕ Fun on the job site sure....in any manner practical no. I suppose you could use it like a quick elevator to get to the top of a roof and unharness. When you get there. But.... I'm still thinking a ladder is way more practical

Hyperboles get thrown around a lot these days but really, you are a genius mate.
After moving in with my girlfriend, I misplaced my safety tie. I found it today. I feel so much safer around heavy machinery and power tools again. Thanks Colin.
This is SO ingenuitive. Such a simple, straightforward concept for a weightless parkour device!!! Looks WICKEDLY fun!!! I would freaking LOVE to get in one of those things!!! Maybe you could try experimenting with air resistance/momentum to really get that speeding-up bullet jump effect? Like, holding your arms out when you jump out, then pulling all your body weight to the center and spinning to try to generate more force and cut through the air? Kind of like a mix of pumping on a swingset and the centrifugal force trick in the office chair where you pull your arms in to go faster? I am not knowledgeable enough o the actual forces behind those two concepts to understand their applications here but it would be EASY to check in practically applied experiments!!!

Also it needs a fair bit of room and it would be harder to make it for multiple people For just one person fun ride the amount of space it needs can be tough in some places
colinfurze is the definition of, “everyone will grow old, but you don’t have to grow up” 🤣
a fun idea which i havent really thought through would be making the whole arm able to extend and retract so you dont just have radial motion and can run in a line for a bit
I need to try this I do gymnastics and I could do some crazy tricks on this thing.
I'd love to see you get a professional athlete in this thing to try it out, like a pro gymnast. Imagine what someone trained in doing crazy body rotations and such could do!
This man has a LOT of faith in his welding ability. And rightfully so from what i've seen

@@micholous Pretty sure there is a lot of stress testing & engineer consulting that happens off camera.
One of the hardest obstacles to get over when learning parkour is fear I think something like this could potentially be used as a learning tool to help assist newbies to get over that fear so they can take the steps to learn how a move works more safely before they do the real thing It's a thing that could help assist those that need that extra step to move on so they don't just pack their bags and give up on a certain move It's like doing knee pushups before moving on to real pushups kind of
saw a guy build a helicopter simulator years ago very similar, used water valve let in to raise and sol vale to let out on the counter weight to lower and a tire on a electric motor to go back and forward. Had a small cab and control stick. Maybe you can convert this when your done if you get bored of it
This + VR would be another 10 levels of insane

@@Secret_Squirrel_Scottishgamer that's the least of the issues, changing the weight it's calibrated to is almost as simple as just changing the counterweights at the back.

@@-canopus-513 you wouldn’t need to mess with the counterweight. There is a hydraulic cylinder, to lengthen the arm, altering the CG.
Low shutter photography would look so rad with the lights at night, it would have to a long shutter delay but would be so worth it
i feel like parks or a disney ride gotta pick up on this, this is amazing
My first thought was why haven't you got the crew from Storror to help test this? Thinking a collaboration is needed for this one, with their parkour skills and your machine, well, it would be indeed be something to see.

Honestly, I'm surprised this doesn't already exist for making movies! Hollywood already has similar things but, THIS would definitely ramp things up! Would be super easy to cover it in green screen material too!

Something like this could be used for some really cool parkour shots in movies. I assume it would be unwieldy for full sequences however

I agree, both with it being amazing and not being able to imagine the feeling; I'm big enough to be at least 2 Colins and would most likely break something even if the made a harness large enough for me to fit in! XD

I recall there was a handle to lock it in place with push of a button. Pretty easy to make it wireless and have two buttons, one for user and second for the safety person outside. Only danger is slipping from the harness but there is better harness for that and momentum slamming you into obstacle, but braking system solves most of that. Only possible danger that comes to mind if welds tress failing, but given Colins welding skills i doubt that is a issue.
