Tbh Trilogy did overshadow Kiss Land, moreso due to the mystery. I remember I would listen to Trilogy through his old KZread channel xoxo...*something* *something* & I'd wonder who tf is this person singing this dark, beautiful song & I binged on them day & night. So, by the time one gets to Kissland, you've already tasted the high of Trilogy & it doesn't feel the same. I remember reading somewhere, after Kissland, The Weeknd wanted to abandon that style of music & branch off into a different direction

The way Abel has seemingly connected his projects with one loosely connected story is a BIG reason why he's one of my favorite artists of all time. His creativity is amazing and unlike anyone in the industry now. Honestly he's kinda ruined R&B for me in a way. With House of Balloons, Thursday, & Echoes of Silence really pushing the boundaries of what R&B was at the time. Now I can only listen to 90's R&B or 2000's R&B, I can't even get into the new R&B peeps like that if they aren't doing at the level he was. Also i agree Kissland is his best album, but his whole discography is super good. Only rivaled by like Kanye & Michael

Dawn fm is still album of the year for me. Amazingly underrated.

I loved this! Thank you Dee 🖤🖤 After Hours and Dawn are part 1 & 2 of a trilogy. He’s one of the few true artists today, in my opinion. I can’t wait to see him next month! XO

This video really changed my mindset on him, man this was powerful

This reminds me of Mary J. Blige. Alot of her early music was loved because so many of us women could relate to what she was singing about. But as soon as she was in a positive space and singing about genuine love, her fanbase wasn't with it so those albums weren't as successful. As a society we're always looking for love and acceptance yet we spend our time focused on the negative which is drama. It's why dramatic entertainment in any form does so well. I'm not really into the weekend like that but this was definitely a pretty thorough breakdown of his artistry. It will be interesting to see what he does next.
