Since people are evidently misunderstanding what Frankie meant: Blinding Lights was a sleeper hit insofar as when it came out after Heartless, people thought it was a worse song. Fast forward to a week later, and the consensus was the Blinding Lights was WAY better than Heartless. A 'sleeper hit' doesn't literally mean it puts you to sleep. It means that it remains dormant for the first little while until people develop a fuller appreciation of the song.

His voice is just so awesome 👌

Man this line... "You look so happy when I'm not with you"... hits me like a truck. I could interpret this with just people in general. Seeing them happy when you're not with them and when you are with them they always look bored and hope you leave as fast as possible.

The meaning in the song is actually the opposite. It's a girl that's happy when she's not aware he's around. Once she catches a glimpse of him, a single tear rolls down, as she's hurt that he ran away and didn't want to be with her, but she walks past him as if he's not even there because she doesn't want to show that she's hurt. Maybe you matter more to those people than you realize :).
