Ham radio hobbyist 23 years - thanks for the internal noise fix! For external noise ‘static’ reduction, radio chassis grounding is crucial for any radio on the AM / SW bands. Small radios can be grounded by making a ‘dead plug’ - clip the ‘hot’ or tip off of a connector such as the headphone plug (clip two tips for a stereo plug). Find which of the plug lines are connected to the negative. You now have a ground by connecting this line to any metal object driven into the ground ( like a nail ), and inserting the clipped plug into the radio. AM / SW stations will come in so strong, you may have to retract the antenna to prevent signal overload, especially listening at night. You can also ground using the USB cable, but it’s a little more complicated.

i have a tivdio v115 with almost no shortwave signals just a noise, but and i can confirm after watching this tutorial, shortwave signal works 100%. i have a sony ICF-SW15 and the tivdio v115 has the same signal level as the sony with this fix in my case i dont have that copper paper or copper tape so i just used aluminium foil (of course protecting contacts in the mainboard)

@@ewenyan5019 update: i bought another unit, this time its a retekes v115, and did come with another board and a superior firmware, it can record in 320 kbps mp3, it has the japanese fm band (70 mhz to 108 mhz) and the aluminium foild or copper foil trick its not necesary. now i think its a lottery to buy this radio, never know what version the store is selling

Thank you for your advice with LCD shielding. It helped me to "fix" my Retekess v115. I used aluminium foil and spring to connect it with receiver ground.

by the way, there's been a hardware improvement to this radio. it's the "PRUNUS J-401"(or equivalent) it's basically the same innards with less interference and better and easier controls, including dedicated tuning and separate preset buttons. no need to worry with clip on antennas either because the AUX port doubles as an antenna jack. it's also just built better in general, and is a little larger and heavier in the hands.

I own the J-401. It is still about the same design but improved over the V115. Still has heavy overloading and bleeding over from MW BC into the SW range that it's not very useful. And the noise floor is still pretty high. So it's still limited as to what it is. But I like it as the price is good and there are many features.

Good evening, I have a question, I see that you have placed a copper tape. The copper tape I get, it has glue on one side, that is the one you have used, you have to remove the tape and stick it behind the screen, I am waiting for an answer, thanks.

Is the copper tape you use not conductive on one side? Or did you insulate the screen or other components somehow?

One side of the tape is sticky, there is protect paper on this side. I removed the protect paper when pasted the tape on LCD, there is sponge between LCD and main board. For the tape on the back of board, I kept the protect paper and soldered the rim of the tape on the main board.

Tivdio/Retkess V-111 uses the same radio chip as the two mentioned, it has reasonable reception. If you don't care about MP3/BT function, that one can a better choice I think.

They are from the same manufacture company, you can just take them as same. Without screening the LCD screen, I would say both are terrible...

hello! I tried step by step to follow your advice and frankly it did not improve or even change anything on this radio. I even wonder if the part you are talking about is indeed responsible for the parasites and the bad reception because I managed to connect the battery when the radio is disassembled and by moving the lcd dial away, I could hear that it did not change not much. I unfortunately believe that these are radios of poor quality in reception and that whatever we do, it will not change anything.

Немного помогло экранирование проводов идущих к динамику.Оплетку экрана припаять к общему проводу приемника одной стороны к заклёпке на динамике с другой стороны .

@@NeoSanktum After the shielding, I would say the background noise of the shortwave decreased a lot especially on 9MHz+, but still can hear some in the low frequency. What you said is right, it was not preciseness of the comparison with non-sheilding, just based on my feeling.
