The Waterboys - The Whole Of The Moon (Athens 21/11/2019)
Музыка
The Waterboys live in Athens Greece - Piraeus 117 Academy
I pictured a rainbow
You held it in your hands
I had flashes
But you saw the plan
I wandered out in the world for years
While you just stayed in your room
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon
The whole of the moon
Hmm, you were there in the turnstiles, with the wind at your heels
You stretched for the stars and you know how it feels to reach too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the whole of the moon
I was grounded
While you filled the skies
I was dumbfounded by truth
You cut through lies
I saw the rain dirty valley
You saw Brigadoon
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon
I spoke about wings
You just flew
I wondered, I guessed and I tried
You just knew
I sighed
But you swooned, I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon
The whole of the moon
with a torch in your pocket and the wind at your heels
You climbed on the ladder and you know how it feels to get too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the whole of the moon
The whole of the moon, hey yeah!
Unicorns and cannonballs, palaces and piers
Trumpets, towers and tenements
Wide oceans full of tears
Flags, rags ferryboats
Scimitars and scarves
Every precious dream and vision
Underneath the stars, yes, you climbed on the ladder
With the wind in your sails
You came like a comet
Blazing your trail too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the whole of the moon

Sounds just as good as it did over 35 years ago! I WILL NEVER TIRE OF THIS SONG!
One of the greatest writers of all time. Scotts tone with vocals is just amazing...timeless and legendary.
I love this song so much and I like it when the vionlist is there!
Probably one of the best songs ever written -🙂 corka
This song is a classic that has no ending timeline - it will always have meaning to many.
1986, Thatcher's Britain, and The Waterboys shone a ray of light across everything. Joyous, lyrically brilliant.

A deep song, you just feel in your soul...
The beauty of this song, those lyrics is; it's about anyone, everyone you've ever known. MIke Scott used a whole myriad of people/subjects as inspiration for the lyrics and consequently we can read into it what we want. Sad, happy, lost opportunities/loves. This songs covers every emotion known. Just a great song. Thank you guys.
Young lad going to clubs in the early nighties this song was great 😊
I will never stop listening to this song. Thank you Mike Scott for this best song ever. Great that The Waterboys are still performing live!
This guy, his band - the world is just such a better place while they perform in it. Thanks Mike Scott. You really are one hell of a spirit.

This certainly a long way from when I saw the actual, "Waterboys" perform this live in 1985.

WTF IS THAT?
There not good live
Great song but awful keyboard playing and many absent details from the recording. Its hollow sounding and the dancing girls not making up for the loss of horns and exciting guitar.

Right? Sure, a lot of singers as they get older need to lower a song's key, but good lord, it sounds almost awful. And sure, playing live sometimes sacrifices a few subtleties, but good lord again, the organ fills?! And one last thing, before I go listen to it in my car over and over, full blast, like I used to... Wtf is up with the bass player not playing that iconic little riff of a bass line? Has he heard the record? Oops, lol, "record",... i meant, hasn't he heard the damn cassette? FYI... I design headstones for a living, and I just did one for a guy whose wife died, he put, "I wondered, I guessed, and I tried. You just knew" under her side of the stone. It was "their song", i almost f#%&ing cried.
I will always love this classical unique 80's song but the visual of the chubby white chic dancing removes 2 stars. I give this video 3*.
