To be honest; I find some (a lot) of these budget brands use Seiko movements in higher quality and value for money pieces than Seiko themselves. It's been a LONG time since Seiko were quality and value for money.

Agreed, and I'm a huge Seiko fan. But that's always been the case regardless of brand for a lot of these no name/micro brand pieces. At some point, you have to realize you're paying for the name and heritage rather than solely the objective specs you can get for the money.

None of the watch-related channels seems to have much love for Cartier, but I love so many of their models across all price ranges.

Ehh I see a lot of people gush over the 35mm Santos De Cartier. But you are right in that Cartier is massively under-appreciated. I own a Santos myself, so I may be biased. But, I’d happily spend my money on a Santos rather than a OP or a Datejust. There simply aren’t any designs that are even close to a Santos, so you get a historical watch with a unique design. It feels like every watch manufacturer has a watch that looks like an Oyster Perpetual.

Same. I don't know how the poll ended up with Tag Heuer Formula 1. There are good modern Heuers, but the Formula 1 line is _not_ it.
Across the budgets, my picks for the must have watches would be- Tissot PRX, Tudor Black Bay 58, Cartier Santos, Zenith El Primero Chronomaster, Rolex GMT Master 2, JLC Reverso, Breguet Classique 7787, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ‘Jumbo’, A Lange and Sohne Lange 1 Moonphase and F.P. Journe Chronometre Bleu. Just an opinion though.

Only change a mediocre TAG with an ETA with a Nomos Glashütte with an Alpha movement or their own DUW movement, then you're set.
Another push for a "must have collection", added bonus is the dailly Rolex/Tudor marketing segment. Fortunately, the Humanity will survive without collecting overpriced Rolexes and Patek Philippes.

"The watches every enthusiast must own" don't exist, fortunately.
Great list! I would just change the title to "The Watches That Every Non-Enthusiast MUST Own"
So in previous videos you say the Omega Moonwarch is the best watch made...ever. Yet not on this list? Which is it?
Great that Seiko has those 5 criteria for a good watch ... now if they could just fix the following: misaligned bezels/QC issues, non-sapphire crystal, pressed clasps.
Happy to see you show the Pepsi bezel 5kX! That was an early purchase on my watch “journey”, aka: addiction.
The 6&9 indices of the Seiko look like the tool to access the sim card on an iPhone
That very op36 silver is my daily 😊
Oris Aquis Calibre 400 is THE essential watch under $5k. Nothing else comes close to it, especially in terms of the movement's performance and the manufacturer's warranty. It outperforms Tudor in every way and is anything but boring.
What model is that green Seiko with the bronze looking case at 3:08?
On the Black Bay 58. It might be interpreted as a bad luck number. In East Asian culture, the number "8" sounds similar to the word for "prosperity" or "wealth". The number "5" sounds like the word for "not" or "no". So by placing a "5" in front of the "8" this equates to "not prosperous. Thought you should know because this "58" number may limit who wants to buy this watch in the future.
Sub 1K - Hamilton Khaki Field 1-3K - Longines Spirit zulu time 3-5K - Anything but a Tudor 🥱 5-10K - Omega Speedmaster Professional 10K and up - Whatever you want really
Ilovey Tag Heuer Formula 1 chronograph. I went for grey dial and bracelet though rather than the colourful ones in the video.
Have a Seiko 5 and a Sarb 17 Alpinist in the sub £ 1000.00 range. Great watches. Would like an Omega Seamaster 300 2018 on, at some time. Don't need a divers watch, just like the look.
10000 A Lange & Sohne 1815
The Omega speedy is the right choice
I find Seiko’s strategy a mixed bag over the last 3 years. Selling NH35 movements without sapphire for over 300€/£ and rattling bracelets is a bit too much…
Ha.. I have Seiko, Tag and Tudor. Guess I just need to save up for a Rolex next since it is available at or below retail again.
I LOVE Toms comments 🤣
I started with a tiny Swiss mechanical watch when I was 5… then Seiko quartz, Seiko automatic, Swatch, Cartier Santos, Swatches, Hamilton, IWC Spitfire Doppelchronograph,, 1930ies vintage pilot watch, IWC Ceramic Doppelchronograph LE, 1941 IWC 52 S.C. BUhr, JLC Memovox Tribute to Polaris 1968, Omega Seamaster NTTD. That’s it. All the modern watches were bought new.
I have a Seiko 5 Sports Blueberry GMT SKX Re-Interpretation - SSK003K1 (Only Watch I own), except very old dress casio's
I have Seestern S434, San Martin SN004 BB58 and Seiko 5 snxs73. Im a simple man.
Minus the Tag, these all feel like "if you only own one watch and this is your budget, this is a good choice everyone would agree on" so it's no surprise it leans a bit boring. That makes sense as more specialized pieces are best for after you have that general everyday watch covered. Though at the 10k plus range, it does get kind of weird because with that budget one presumably would have already covered the basics.
$3k-$5k? Longines Hydroconquest GMT and use the leftover money to go out for a nice dinner.
Did TAG pay them off to plug that? Cuz the correct watch for that price point is 100% a Longines, probably of the Master Collection variety, but any Longines will do in that price range.
I have 2/5 watches on this list.. The first 2 to be exact 😆
I’ll never desire a rolex apart from the oyster 1926 with fleurs-de-lis hands.
Not sure if there's a difference in calling the BB58 boring, or saying it's a boring choice because it's such an obvious choice. I think it's the latter, but some of these KZread watch review echo chambers seem to be gravitating to the former as some kind of race to being the first to declare the BB58 an overrated and no longer good watch because it started out so hot. Very bizzare.
No mention of the best, Delma ?
Got the original C.Ward logo in house SH-21 movement dress watch; that will do, dirt cheap sekonda Xpose for work.
Oh my, I think my watch enthusiasts card just got revoked. I do not have a slightest desire to own any of those four watches.

I don’t think I did this right: -$1000, ok…Casio AE1200…quartz-accuracy, “chronograph”, “GMT”, alarms, day/date, “lume”, 10 years before “servicing”…all for around $30? I must not be a watch enthusiast. 😢😅
No way am I getting a Quartz TAG Heuer Formula 1 - not for any price 😂
I so hate the hour hand on the Black Bay. Otherwise the Black Bay Bucherer Blue would be amazing.
I think Tissot Heritage1938 COSC and CASIO AE-1200 WH are a must
The only one i will realistically ever own is the seiko. My upper limit on spending on a single watch is probably $1000
I really love being told I MUST own watches. No really. I love it. A lot.
The TAG Heuer watch for mentioned criteria must be a bad joke! :,) And no, I don't want Hublot like cash graber TAG on any dial of my watch at all.
I prefer to do the unexpected, so none on this list for me.
If I was to write down my perfect watch it would be a Black Bay 58 WITH A DATE!
You can definitely get a better watch for the money than seiko and with a seiko movement. I think every collector needs an aliexpress special in which to judge all other watches against. At least for the vast amount of collectors that buy watches under 1k.
I would have put a Grand Seiko or Explorer 1 for the 5000-10000 but yeah it is fine.
I hope Tom's a bit perkier today than yesterday!
Genuinely couldnt tell if you were being sarcastic or serious throughout the whole Tag Heuer segment!

Do people still see seiko as the budget kings now that there older models don't have hand winding or hacking would Orient not be a better pick below £500
The Nauitlus... If it didn't say Patek on the dial, nobody would even look at it.
Seiko has released dozens of models.
Tudor good choice for 3K…I would also say Sinn….
You lost me at Tag F1 and the Rolex Oyster. From $1000-$3000 I’d buy an Oris Small second Date or Longines Hydroconquest GMT date. Tudor I agree in the $3000-$5000 . From $5000-$10000 I’d buy a Rolex Air-king before the Oyster and if not Rolex I would go Omega Speedmaster Professional . Over $10,000 there is so many choices Patek is great but if just one over $10,000 for what I enjoy would have to be a Rolex Sea-Dweller or Deep Sea.
I will not stand for insults to marky mark wahlberg, but great video nonetheless the less. Would love to have a beer with these guys and talk watches!!!!
calling the Tudor black bay boring and yet having one has the same feeling, of the "it's so ugly, I love it" meme.
I'm sad no JLC made the list. *sniff*

I agree with your "pollsters" on all of these watches, except for the sub $1000 and sub$3000. And the sub $5000. I would of agreed with the sub $10,000 if it hadn't been a Rolex, but the over $10,000 I wouldn't argue with, apart from your choosing the wrong one. I guess I am just not a very good watch collector. I think I will go along with my mum from now on and just collect teapots.
But if it is so boring, why insist on the Tudor? Like Tom said, Longines is a possibility, yet a better choice would be an Omega…even some GS can fit there.
I have a Rolex Sea Dweller 16600 2000 model year. The bracelet is so cheap that my Seiko Willard Save the Ocean Glacier bracelet knocks it into a cocked hat. Even the hands are so diminutive and slender as to be a joke compared to modern watches. But the Sea Dweller out trumps a Sub. 10k above spot on!
Tom’s a little cranky today….🙂
Orient bats seiko5 out the park in budget range
OMG I just googled the Nautilus Tiffany. £1.85mil !!!! 2023 unworn. I better get saving 😂
I REFUSE to spend my money on a Seiko 5 OR a quartz Tag
I'm not a fan of Tag Heuer anymore. They've made the quartz models cheaper, fewer jewels, and up the price 400-500% since the year 2000. Virtually all the Swiss brands have done this. Upped the price and downed the quality. Kind of similar with Japanese quartz. The watch uses a super cheap zero jewel quartz movement or super expensive 9F type movement with virtually nothing in between.
Hamilton Khaki for under 1K 😊
Frock quartz!
I genuinely believe that if the Nautilus didn’t have Patek Philippe written on the dial hardly anyone would want one. It’s not really a looker, is it? For me, I’d much rather have a more classy, formal & dressier piece from Patek, like one of their (grand) complications.
This list couldn’t be more dreadful- but I still found the video entertaining
This is the first time I would agree with the Rolex choice even though I believe it’s way overpriced.
The nautilus is naut more “needed” than a royal oak and you know it.
Op is not the watch, calatrava is.
Man, the people who got polled don't have very good taste. Heuer's newer Carrera and Aquaracer lines I could have understood. TAG Heuer Formula 1 _definitely_ ain't it in that price bracket, get a Longines instead.
Striking how that Rolex (8:21) looks like my $100 Seiko 5 SNK793. Oh, I forgot. I sold it. Too boring.

Hub-lot…..😂😂😂
If a watch is a MUST own for a budget, it MUST be available-nothing from Rolex nor should a Nautilus be on this list. And just because there are half a dozen ADs in the world where you can get a OP doesn’t make it available.
The Mark XX is so perfect that it can’t be understood until you put it on. The good news is it opens up the rest of your collection to get sort of fun and quirky. Because behind it all remains the most watch watch to watch.
