The watch that got a lot of us into watches
Ойын-сауық
Many of us wanted a Formula One as a new watch enthusiast. For some of us, it was our first 'expensive' watch. In talking with watch fans over the years, its become clear to me- the Tag Heuer Formula One is a sentimental watch for many of us.
Thank you to Saltzmans Watches for selling our HSU group this Gulf edition. For those shopping Tag Heuer-

Spot on Bruce!! This was my first Swiss watch! Its now my beater. lol. Next was my Seamaster, followed by the Santos... because of you!! hehe
I bought my first TAG Heuer watch almost 30 years ago and I currently own 4, all of them bought new at an AD. One of them's a reverse panda gen. 6 (so latest version, like the one you're showing in your excellent video) F1 chrono. But I only bought this 3 years ago, while I had been into watches for many years. So, not a 'beginners watch' for me. But, in fact, a really good looking, well built, very practical and fun watch, that I will most certainly keep in the collection, if only to support Max Verstappen, when he's winning yet another F1 race!😄
Got a TAG F1 second generation as my high school grad gift in the mid 90s. It definitely got me into watches. They were THE watch to wear and I remember being surprised by how many compliments it got (including from the ladies). Wore it for 7 years never taking it off. Still have it and got it serviced to give to one of my boys. Cheers.
in the early 2000, Tag design was very appealing to mass. I also remember seeing them at Costco and whishing for one. Never bough one since I found better while getting deeper in the hobby.
My first watch crush was a Tag Kirium automatic, I bought it pre owned and loved it.
I have the James Hunt limited edition TAG F1. Still love the watch and wear it on a regular basis, even though I have numerous Swiss auto’s. Amazing how many of us follow a similar, fun Watch journey.
Yes!! Love this watch.
My first luxury watch is Tag Heuer Aquaracer. Absolutely love it!
As a kid growing up, Tag was the it watch. My first expensive watch is a Breitling Colt 41 the older with the cool detailed dial.
My first love was a Timex Ironman. That was amazing to me as a little kid.

Although not an Ironman my grandad bought me my first watch at eight years old in 1962 it was a TimeX. So this year in celebration of my first watch I treated myself to a bb58. Grandad was a coal miner but his hobby was repairing watches he didn’t want me to have a this watch he called them rubbish but it was that red secondhand I just had to have it. It has been emotional typing this.
Yup and yup. I have that watch and it was a relationship builder with my AD. It’s a good watch for the money and the Quartz make is always ready! Anyone who wins that watch will be lucky.
Simply a great watch.
I had this one and loved it. ended up selling it cause i was buying a house and just wanted a little extra cash. totally regret it. beautiful watch
What a coincidence Bruce, my first one also F1 Chrono in black, from 1990, got it after 12th grade!
My first 'Luxury' watch was a Tag Heuer Formula 1...since that I've probably owned and sold 10+ of them, still have the first though and I'll never move it on!
Love it :)
The watch of the age of innocence, alongside the aquaracer, when, for better or worse, we hadn’t been dragged so deep into the hobby.
Back in the mid to late 90s while I was in high school, everyone but me, had one of those Tag Heur S/EL series (I'm also sure many were fake). I remember these watches explicitly because of their funky-looking curve links on the bracelet. I also wanted get one myself, but I couldn't afford the real thing as a student, nor wanting to get a fake. I stuck with either the ADEC quartz diver watch or the Vostok Komandirskie manual wind watch. To this day, the ADEC (now part of Citizen) watch is no longer running and I still wear the Vostok from time-to-time.
My love started after purchasing a fake tag heuer grand carrera rs2 in highschool, still have it as a sentimental reminder
An F1 was my first "expensive" watch. I still wear it all the time as a great grab and go quartz!
Hi Bruce; I would love to own that Gulf-Tag watch! Is the raffle for that only for US residents? I’m in Canada. Thanks
My Dad and brother both have quartz F1. They like them and as they work in trades, don't have interest in keeping an automatic ticking.
My first love was and is a Rolex Submariner. Rolex use to run two page ads in the Los Angeles Times. I loved looking at all the models or they just featured one watch. After my first promotion. I went to the AD and bought a Sub. No BS back then on buying any Rolex that a person might want.
My first watch was a tag heuer carrera
Bruce, if u had to choose, sla019 or oris hangang for a green watch? Doesn't matter about the price, and ofcz this is if u don't own the hulk sub.
Lol my first legit watch was a Quartz Tag Heuer Aquaracer...It was my big bang into watches.
I got the bug with the Seiko 7A quartz chronograph. I could barely afford it and no way could I get a Speedy. I bought one new in college in 1984. I still wear the watch!
my first was also a formula one
haha, I had the Tag Indy 500 actually.
Tag Heuer is a seriously cool brand.
Mine was a formula one as well...got it off ebay for 700...thought I was the shit haha. Now it's my bang around watch 🤣
It was my first real watch
Price of this watch?
When I got my first proper job, I got a F1 Casio Ediffce sponsered by Vettel and Webber, £300 in 2006. I thought that was a lot of money for a watch back then. Ha ha ha ha!
I didn't know this watch existed.
Tag Heuer needs to remove the word 'Tag' and just keep the 'Heuer'...then I will buy it.

Some of the models they do that with
funny my 60 dollar casio hits all the marks but a thousand dollar watch can't.

I'd still take a Tag over your Casio 😜

Your phone also hits all the marks, but it was never touched by a single human hand before you touched it. To me, you wasted 60 bucks on a totally automated assembly line timepiece, when your phone could do everything for you.

@@keywestjoe1 of course there is another person who has even touched a casio. for me it is important on a quartz watch that it hits the markings.
First!
