The Watagans German Point Rd Nightrun

End of the first day of the Pajformance Pajamboree, late call for a night run, we headed off about 7pm, it was definitely starting to get dark and the brief was an 'easy' run down a nearby track to a campsite.
We did get a bit more fun that we bargained for, as the thumbnail for this video might have suggested.

Yeah was pretty great! Don't see that many Paj's out in the Vic High Country so to be rolling with a heap of them was great. Also really interesting to see the differences between the Gen III and Gen IV models, learn't a lot about Pajero's on this trip.

    @@OffTheBeatenPathAus Interesting, I wondered if the Gen 3 & 4 differed a lot.

@@ianmccormick3453 some differences in how the super select operates, biggest difference was almost none of the Gen 3's came with factory rear lockers, where a lot of the Gen IV's had them. You'll see on the Camp Creek Rd video, next in this series, sometimes it helped sometimes it didn't

@@OffTheBeatenPathAus Wow - OK. I thought they were standard on both!... The things you learn. I must admit, the Gen IV's sounded more in control and I've never known lockers to be a negative in any situation. Looking forward to Camp creek rd....😀

That was a great weekend. Cant wait to do another one. I may have been part of the holdup as i tore a hole in the sidewall of my front left after slipping off the line i took coming up one of the climbs on the way out.

Damn that road has been chewed up since I was there last. I was passenger last time we had driven that a couple years back. That Pajinator is a beast, I've got a Show Us Ya Bits coming up on that and one of Kierans NL anyone wanting to see more of it. Sitting back at camp we could hear you all driving down there and I jumped on the radio a few times laughing at the Ranger getting stuck. Lol. It's a Ranger that's why it got stuck lol. Was a great trip and awesome to meet everyone. If I had of realised you guys were doing German Point Rd I would of packed up and come for a run.

What tyre pressure and drive modes are you normally using for a track like that? E.g do you run in 4H for the easy bits then switch to 4HLc for the mud? Centre and rear diff locks?

Hey Mate, me personally was running 4H the whole time, only use Low Range for steep climbs descents. Centre locker of course, and had the rear in only for the big bog hole, other than that not at all. Traction control generally does a pretty good job on modern 4wd's

Took us probably 3hrs in and out but we had a lot of vehicles that needed winching at the large bog hole. Less vehicles would mean a lot less time
