The war on drugs is literally so good and so beautiful. I've heard this song and I literally cry when I hear it. It's so good!!!😭🥰

For me this song is a way to turn the page, it's like the shift change in the office, it's like a hug at the end of the day. I don't know how to explain everything this song has made me feel and still makes me feel, even though I've heard it many times before. It's like a hymn, that guitar riff is mythical, insane and glorious. It gives me chills. Btw, that album "A deeper understanding" is, hands down, in my top 3 chart of the best albums I've ever heard in my life. Not a single bad song.

Agreed. So cool to find a page of people who are so into it too. The most understated band that speaks to my soul. They played at my city's folk fest this year. I was surprised to learn an acquaintance of mine was a huge fan. We were probably the only one's in the crown rocking out totally excited to see them. It's made this huge bond between my friend and I.

Hey Scott I would like to thank you for what you do. This is a completely different idea of reacting to only music. This is really amazing, coz everyone reacts to music videos and the music is often neglected. What you do, makes us listen to the same song in a completely different way. Your reaction gives us an opportunity to listen to every single instrument and every new thing in the music. Reacting so well and so heart fully to a song whose lyrics you don't understand is really amazing and sweet. Your complete way gives us more reasons to think about the music you react to and also, to introspect. Thank you for what you do and keep doing it. The 17 yr old warrior Akansha 😊

Imho, The War On Drugs is not a band for anyone suffering from depression. I've listened to a lot of their music and whilst it is beautifully crafted and clearly played by real musicians, I never feel uplifted after listening to a whole album. It is deep, but I also find it a bit dark and even a touch melancholic. But hey, we're all different and perhaps I'm wired strangely compared to others. I'm not knocking the band, just sayin' I can't wallow in their sound for too long or my mood begins to change and not in a way I want it to.

I think the opposite. A lot of Adam’s lyrics stem from his own struggles with depression, see “Burning” which is him addressing it and not letting it consume him in his entirety. In fact the whole “Lost in the dream” album rides that same theme. Incredibly introspective music and I find it has brought me a lot of peace. A deeper understanding is more melancholic yes, but again, it’s a journey. One that feels familiar to those suffering. Interesting how it resonates with you though!

@@gregorybrooke625 I respect your perspective absolutely. I think mine derives from hearing the human voice as a musical instrument. I don't pay close attention to the lyrics of any song, it's all about how the music makes me feel. I find ABBA's music uplifting but many of their lyrics speak of sadness and loss. I've listened to Pink Floyd, my all time favourite band, for over fifty years, but always to the music and rarely, except in the case of "Time", the lyrics. In this manner I can also enjoy musicians like Cheb Nasro (Algerian RAI) even though I haven't the first clue what he's singing about. I also enjoy Opera but speak no Italian. In my view there is no lyricist alive, or dead, who can compare to writers like Shakespeare and Marlow when it comes to using language to convey sentiment. But hey, they can't hold a candle to the positive emotions I feel when David Gilmour plays his guitar.
