i believe he's definitely meant to be a raw anemo dps rather than a reaction dps, especially since he's releasing alongside faruzan. Obviously its not going to stop him from being a swirl dps whatsoever, but faruzan's kit is definitely catered towards raw anemo dps characters, and I think that will mainly consist of scara and xiao as of now, since neither of them benefit greatly from swirls other than a bit of extra damage in terms of kit synergy, whereas sucrose and heizou both benefit from triggering swirls within their kits more than raw anemo damage.

Ikr, you can already tell he's meant to be anemo DPS. Obvious hints are Faruzan's kit, new ANEMO artifact set description and his signature weapon's crit stat and passive, non of them focuses on EM or swirl DMG at all. EM Wanderer build is like forcing Sucrose as a raw anemo/crit build which defeats the purpose of their main kit. I mean if it's for the sake of fun and silly plays, then sureee

@@Aurora_veil1580 pretty sure Venti is already supposed to be a swirl dps considering he nearly has full burst uptime and his burst hits over 20 times. The only thing that sets swirl damage anemo characters apart is how fast and often they can do anemo damage and Venti's burst is one of the fastest longer lasting options with suction. Those are the exact things you'd want in a "swirl dps", thing is that kind of dps would (and is) something that will only be strong in a fight against large numbers of enemies because of quadratic scaling and broken it is in that situation.

Even if he heals the enemies I will still pull him lmao.

Ik discussion videos like this aren't your bread and butter, but I think it was executed well, you had good points and it made me even more excited for the new patch. And honestly, Wanderer/Scaramouche could be non-meta and I would still throw my credit card on the table. He's my favorite character other than Xiao so *shrugs in anemo dps* lol

Im probably upsetting alot of Scaramuche fans but I genuinely feel like he is an upgraded version of Heizou. While this kind of conclusion has been drawn many times before with Kazuha/Yelan, I cannot help but see Heizou as more of a test version of how Scara's baseline kit will work. Ofc there are glaring diffrences but the core part of it feels similar.

by virtue of being an anemo unit, i’m confident Scara will be quite strong! however, it looks like to me he’s meant to be run more like Xiao than Heizou: meaning less of an emphasis on swirl and lots of reactions and more of a focus pure anemo dmg… especially considering Faruzan is his premier support with her kit focused around buffing anemo dmg 🤔 however considering the fact that his skill is buffed depending on the element it absorbs i think there will be more flexibility in his team building than a character like Xiao! just all my personal speculation tho

I've been watching Heizou guides to get an idea on what he might play like, but I think his play style will focus more on personal damage compared to reactions based on his weapon and the new artifact set focusing heavily on normal attacks. So I feel like even if he could be a reaction driver, his dps will matter more. I'm personally gonna run him with permafreeze teams unless I'm totally wrong about that because making it so the enemy can't run away will be amazing, especially since I'm pretty sure catalysts can't shatter freeze

Hoyo loves both him as a character and anemo as an element. I think he'll be cracked

@@Fabio-ql5yf anemo characters usually get some special treatment, and all anemo characters till now have been more powerful and/or useful than average. Also wanderer/scara has been previewed on 3 version poster already, and even as the only star of 3.3 poster. Finally he's one of the few characters who has his own support AND artifact set. Only OP characters have gotten those till now (Raiden, Itto, ayaka)

Even though I'm skipping him, He does look amazing. I can't wait to see what he will bring. Also, is it just me, or The Harbingers playstyle always seems unique like the archons. Look at Childe, He has 2 different bursts, a stance change with it's own animations, and Riptide. And look at Wanderer. He can fly in the air, and all of of his attacks "change". He also has a unique way of infusing an element which will grant him a buff. But maybe it's just me. Anyway, he looks awesome.

I think the challenge I have so far with imagining myself using him is how much I enjoy quick swap rotations in reaction teams and what I haven't seen in any of the stream clips was examples of his normal attacks coming from anything but his "elevated" state = a state that sounds fun in theory but I imagine locks the player into using him without the ability to swap out until you've descended. If you're locked into using him until grounded and he only attacks effectively in the air that could really, really stink. Did you notice anything in the streams that would hint to the flexibility (or inflexibility) of that? That along with the "does he have a special ICD" question are the two things I'm most holding out on.

His skill state doesn't last that long and can be ended whenever by pressing skill again or using burst. Plus it only has a 6 second CD. If you use Xingqiu and Fischl for example it's very possible that their skills will still be active or just ending when Scara leaves his skill state. Plus it's a skill so you don't have to worry about ER. This isn't a Cyno or Xaio situation.

It's a wise piece of advice to wait couple of days, BUT that track bought me the moment I heard it 😍💃✨

All im wondering is: how will thoma play with him? Thoma's burst projectiles travel through the ground like waves, but scara is the first character to do normal attacks WHILE flying. So im just curious as to how it works.

wanderer does not have his kit made for swirl and reactions, he is a pure anemo dps. he should not have a lot or really any EM in his builds for more dmg numbers

As a f2p I like to know which characters will have a rerun and so I know a little bit how to play whit him

Wanderer's team will mostly consist of faruzan(who is the only anemo buffer), pyro and cryo(because they both benefits with his passive). Also, the more money pump into a 5star character, the more powerful they will be. He will sux at swirling just like xiao and heizou, that's what anemo dps are.

His ICD doesn’t matter at all because he’s a pure hypercarry anemo dps releasing with a dedicated support and nothing in his kit incentivizes building EM so swirls will happen but you shouldn’t care about them especially since he’s not meant to be built with VV.

For me i don't see scaramouche a big upgrade to my account or something that will change my account like kazuha zhongli i can see myself have fun with him but im just waiting for alhaithem and dehya and probably bayzhu to complete all dendero teams so i can focus to the 4.0 expansion characters ..

He also gonna be the first 5 star to have a hangout story later on. They definitely put alot of effort into him, way more than 80% of the other characters in the game

If these early calcs involve C6 Faruzan and his personal weapon, that's not attainable for most players. Childe international reaches 1M damage per rotation with mid investment

Maybe wanderer may gain a lot potential with nahida and yelan

I like him because he can fly and make exploration easier haha

no way dps character will be stronk if they did not have 1. insane multiplier like eula burst 2. 60% or more defence ignore 3. have amplifying reaction to compensate 4. frontload cripling dmg like c6 yelan nahida

The wanderer could be broken but that would mean forgiving him

Personally, I feel like dendro reactions are beating out some of the more traditional meta teams. That is partly because the abyss has been catering to them. So the problem with an anemo main DPS is that it won't synergize well with dendro reactions. I notice this with Heizou. He has a very hard time getting any swirls in because the elements are getting consumed by bloom/aggravate. So, I think wanderer can be good, but I'm not sure that he will beat the current meta.

I think Wanderer's alternate stance is consistent with Childe's alternate stance and they will be similar in a way. My guess is, it will be high DPS at a cost of high "maintenance" during combat. Perhaps his flying stamina will be it, if you deplete it completely by mistake, it may take a while to recover or something like that.

As much as I am excited for Scara, I share the same sentiment. He is a hypercarry, no doubt. Faruzan being a niche anemo support to be released together with him is hoyo being obvious, even if you didn't see leaks. Hypercarries are kind of a questionable breed in genshin because of how restrictive they could get. Nonetheless, I will spend my guaranteed pity for him solely because he has jetpacks. (God help me when yelan comes out. Im out of primos).

All I can say for today's Anemo people, Thank god Faruzan's shredding and damage boosting isn't locked behind Cons it was said in the traler, and cons just give more utility. 30% at all levels anemo shred and 34% Anemo dmg boost at 10. so REJOICE!! Altho I do hope sara is in the banner...... my sara's stuck at c6 and it's so rough

Big 3 as in Ganyu/Xiao/Hu Tao? Because the only one who remains at the top is just Hu Tao. Ganyu got replaced by Ayaka and looks like Scara will replace Xiao. Childe is also top DPS because international (strongest team in the game) doesn't exist without him

I don't particularly like his character. It's possible that the 3.3 Archon Quest will change that (I hope so). Even so, he is a day 1 pull for me just based on how useful he will be in the overworld. He may well be the first character who can rival Sayu in usefulness. The fact he's getting a dedicated anemo support and artifact set day 1 leads me to believe that Hoyo have decided on a new darling character so I think there's no way that he will not shine in combat as well. That and his kit already looks quite deep and I like that sort of thing!

He's a harbinger who a lot of players have been waiting a long time for so it'd be strange if he is just mid. Then again, Cyno was in a similar boat. My gut tells me he'll follow the same pattern of most male dps: very flexible and/or fun but average damage ceiling.

The problem with using him over sucrose is he has no grouping and no EM scaling. So he’s just going to be worse in those teams.

He makes up for it with faster Anemo application - his dodge arrows likely have their own ICD, he can spam charged attacks without wasting KP or Stamina, and the AoE on his normal attacks is large enough that he's likely triggering multiple swirls at once. Sucrose has better grouping and AoE on her skill and burst, but her normal and charged attacks are clunky, slow, and have a hard time hitting multiple enemies. When you add on her short range, poor movement, low personal damage, and the diminishing returns that come from going all in on EM, it begins to look like a properly built Wanderer could overtake her as an Anemo driver.

@@normal6483 I’m not sure it does make up for it, yes her normals are worse but her skill and burst is insane, especially with sac frags on field AOE is only as good as the amount of enemies you can hit. If you can’t group the enemies, even a large AOE can be useless

i think it's a bit silly to care about Wanderer's ICD when he is being released with Faruzan,which indicates he is meant to be played for raw anemo damage(like xiao). even if you use him as a reaction driver,it's still not a big deal because he attacks pretty fast. do you think sucrose and heizou swirl every normal attack? they don't! but they attack fast enough so the swirls happen a lot! not to mention catalyst charged attacks have no ICD at all,so unless Wanderer's E skill applies different ICD rules to his charged attacks,he is still a pretty normal,fast attacking,anemo catalyst. if anything,his weakness on reaction teams would be his grouping,not his elemental application. TL;DR: one would have to actively try hard to make an anemo catalyst bad at reactions.
