No.. It couldn't have been pure. That would've too cheesy and not believable. Tales of the Walking Dead will probably show a lot of good backstories when it comes out.

This is one of the best Episodes ever. So well scripted and acted.. I really wish the rest of the episodes could step it up to this level 😎.. Guy's your reactions were so genuine and thoughtful. Again this episode stretched us all on an emotional level 😎

He mentioned he cheated on his wife in a past episode I believe. I don't remember what he was talking to...Gabriel? Dwight? Even if they hadn't shown it here, it would still be a part of his backstory. But great reaction! It makes sense why he connects with kids, his speeches, etc.

Just for those who don’t know Negan wife is played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan real life wife Hilarie Burton if you ever watched One Tree Hill you will know her as Peyton believe this is the first time they ever worked together and their son appears in a episode in Season 11 as Walker

Negan says to Franklin that it's been 6 weeks since he left to look for supplies. That's a hell of a long time in this world on top of her being weak and ill. She lost hope there was a happy ending there and ended her suffering.

Hated negan in season 7 and 8 but with a great actor playing him he has warmed to me last few seasons especially in season 11 still think this series holds its own without Rick

Carol is awesome. She a savage and hilarious at the same time. "If you stay here, she will kill you. I just didn't want your death on my conscience. (sighs) Now it's not." And then she smiles 🤣I love her. And is it just me or does Maggie and Lucille seem like they would have been besties? Maggie gives vibes like the way Lucille was back then. I think that's why Negan smiles at her. Maybe Maggie reminds him of Lucille. Lucille was no bullshitter and that's Maggie too. These women get straight to the point. FIERCE. You don't mess with that kind of woman. The stare down between him and Maggie.... I can't wait til they come face to face and pop off. I freaking love Hilarie Burton. I remember seeing her for the first time in the crowd outside MTV's TRL a few years BEFORE she did One Tree Hill. I was sitting at home watching tv and at the time TRL was looking for a new vj (video jockey aka announcer) and she was picked out of the crowd and then went on the show to compete and answer a few questions or something like that and she won and became the new host next to Carson Daly. I remember she was so fun and awkward that she was just adorable to watch. It's the reason they kept her. Great personality for the show. She's always smiling and that smile got bigger when she met the big stars at the time. I can't remember if it was back in 1999 or 2000. But yeah, those were good times. Whoa. In case people forgot these last episodes were filmed during covid restrictions so they had to come up with extra plot, some of them were amazing like Here's Negan and the Gabriel and Aaron eps but some were just obviously put together in the last second like Diverged 10x21 which is essentially a filler episode. I cut them some slack for obvious reasons but completely understandable if you didn't enjoy it. I can tell episodes like Here's Negan were most likely going to already be in season 11

Negan's backstory is what everyone who didn't read the comics was waiting to see. Loved this episode to see who Negan was prior to the apocalypse and what turned him into the villain he became. Season 11 is finally here for you. We can all watch how they are going to end the series for all of us.

They were kind of in a box writing this episode. I feel like maybe they wouldn't have written in Negan cheating, but it is not only comic accurate, but he also tells Father Gabriel in season 8 that he cheated on his wife, so they kind of had to stick to that.

12:38, That is exactly why he was with Alpha. He saw something in her that resembles his wife.

I definitely don't think Lucille would've forgiven Negan if the world had stayed normal. But even as someone who dislikes him I can't deny this is a great episode

We saw otherwise when she chose to not shoot him instead gives him the packets on cancer and chooses to stick with him to work through it.

It wasn't just made up during this episode when he was talking to Gabriel and they were stuck and surrounded by walkers in the trailer outside of the sanctuary he insinuated that he put her through a lot and if you think of that I would think cheating

The cheating kind of foreshadows the taking of multiple wives.

It was clear he liked many women when he had about 8 wives at the sanctuary.

The cheating aspect was important so people wouldn't forget Negan was an asshole, without it, this episode would've been revisionism

You mentioned you wished you saw more origins from other characters. Well AMC announced that they will be making another TWD show called Tales of The Walking Dead! Which will show origins of past characters and new characters! It was confirmed that the actor Terry Cruise will be in this show! Just thought you should know

So remember the whole thing Negan was saying about having to deal with the consequences before the fall, and after, only having to think about his capabilities? Maggie equals consequences. Negan going back to where Maggie is? He is accepting that he f'd up, BIG TIME, and there's either him dying for it now, or getting through it. Either way he's recognized he needs to be with the Group to live, and he's recognized he wants to live. And so he's going towards the consequences of his past, and the consequences to his past of being a new man in the future. I really think TWD has such a way with storytelling that it lets you know how the past, present, and future are always moving together, and they show that through the characters struggles. And character backstories are so, so, so good on this show!

4:50 is what I mean when I tell people I’d be like Negan in the apocalypse

This is nothing new that he’s a cheater. It’s either season 7 or 8 when him and Gabriel are trapped in the saviour complex that he admits to cheating on his wife when she had cancer. Also he had like 8 wives so is it that surprising?

The best part of this episode was when Negan bashed that guy guarding the place and his theme started playing.

My all time favorite episode!

It was established that he cheated on his wife like many many many many seasons ago so I don’t know know why it makes a difference that they’re mentioning it again when it was already known

I love u all soo much but common this is the episode where we should seal our mouth and just watch😂

The bat Negan had at the beginning of season 10 was one that kid made for him. The real Lucille was left here all these years after the war which is why it is in such a bad state.

Hello from France Negan origin story deserves a all mini season. This 6 bonus episodes should be his origin and his evolution. Because this episode is just maybe the best walking dead episode the last Rick episode. The others bonus episodes (except the part with Robert Patrick and the part with Darryl and Lydia) were crap, specialy the episode 21 with Carol and her soup. I remember when Negan confess to Gabriel he was an unfaithful husband. It's good to see him with his wife before he apocalypse and the first months after. I just regret we don't see the part when all begin (like the first season of Fear the Walking Dead). Lucille played by Hilary Burton who is the Jeffrey Dean Morgan wife is the best choice they could did. The both actors playing is awsome. And the makeup for making Negan 12 years younger is very good. But only one episode is not enough, I really hope there gonna make an another. Watching Negan meet Dwight, Simon, Morales or others guys, the rise of the saviors. Arrive to the sanctuary, become the leader and submit Alexandria, hilltop and the kingdom. At the end of the episode, just before Negan burn the bat i almost cried. The scene in the bar very look like the last scene of the season 6, (his first apparence) moreover ther is the same music as Eeny Meeny Miny Moe scene. It's wonderful. That is the walking dead i like, that is the Walking Dead i want. Damn it. I loved the evil and creepy Negan from season 7 and 8 and iloved this new Negan after redemption. He's just my favorite walking dead character.

It's part of what Negan was in the comics. It's part of who Negan is on the show. To take that away for a pure romantic story would be to take away from why he became who he became in the apocalypse. It would take away a reason for a redemption. The journey to become the man again his wife once loved. Without that flaw, he would just be a rom com storyline. His cheating & regret & redemption & his wife's forgiveness is what makes their love story so much stronger.

Negan was never really the bad guy, he ruled with an iron fist.. But he wasn't an insane wild man. He should of killed every single one of Ricks people that night, yet he let them go. At this point Rick and crew had killed over 30 men and women, unprovoked. If the protagonist was Negan the entire time, Ricks group would of been the villians.

Negan WAS a bad guy. So was Rick but just because Rick did messed up shit doesn’t make Negan the good one by default. Negan extorted resources from hilltop and Ezekiel long before Rick ever showed up. He killed multiple men and made their girlfriends or wives his “wives”. You can’t be selective when choosing who to forgive twd was never about good vs evil it was bad vs worse

I think the fact that Negan was cheating on his wife shows that he was always quite a selfish person and put himself and his needs first above anyone else. It also shows that spending that little time he had with his wife one on one made him regretful of what time he had wasted in the past, messing about instead of spending quality time with her. I think his time in the Sanctuary with his many wives was also the way he dealt with the guilt of the way he treated her and the way her life ended without him being there. He was out trying to get a way to have more time with her and all she ever wanted was for him to just be there for her and he wasn't, he wasn't before because he was away cheating and he wasn't there at the end of her life either cos he was out trying to make up for the past.

I agree with what you said about him being selfish & regretting doing that to the one he loves. But I think the Negan he became after her death & the Haim he created was him embracing his selfish side & abandoning the good man he had become with Lucille. The new NEgan didn't give two effs about anyone else & shut out the good in him to survive & avoid that guilt. Today's Negan is the redeemed one that takes responsibility for his actions.

I love that Negan's character exists, but I do not think he is a good person. Even if Rick has done bad things, it doesn't compare in my opinion. Rick isn't a cheater, he didn't force multiple women to marry him, he didn't have worker slaves, and definitely didn't slowly kill ppl and make their families watch.

I would have liked to see insight on why Negan thought it would be alright to rape women. I mean he did have a harem of women, that belonged to other men, and slept with them. If the womans partner said anything they got their face burned off. It is not the only thing about him i disliked, but it is the biggest.
