In Mansion he said he's trapped inside, that God told him he's not locked in but that he chose to lock the door due to his fear. The theme of the keys in the Perception album is representing him realizing that he is in control and not his fear.

All the people in the video are actual fans he invited for the video. Nf is crazy. Also love the heads in the cloids line, he will go on to make a EP clouds years later. The dude is crazy

I love how you break down songs!!! At the beginning I’m like “no … this means [insert whatever] … just keep going you’ll get there” … haha .. There is a scene on the show The Chosen where Mathew and Phillip are having a discussion. Mathew draws a circle, he says this is the world and everything that’s ever been. He then draws a small circle outside of the world. And says this is me, this is how I feel. Phillip says Good for you, I too feel the same way. Of course I’m paraphrasing but what’s awesome about that scene is how to people view their place in the world with different perspectives. Mathew feels like he’s not apart of the world cause he feels like the world rejects him. Like he’s not accepted. While Phillip chooses to live outside of the world, an outcast. Jesus many times tells us to not be that of the world. I think the cage represents the circle outside of the world. He chooses to live there, he has the keys to leave, but would rather stay safe from the world and be an outcast. It’s not a prison, it’s his refuge. And only a certain few are allowed in his circle.

Statement and Intro 2

He didn’t open the door because he’s staying in the cage (the fear, the serious things he discusses, the pain etc) for the fans that are surrounding it.

The cage is the prison in the mind that is his mansion. You say it all the time, "he only lets you see what he wants you to see." In this one, he's beginning to let people into his mind by airing out his garbage (burdens) he wears. See, he holds the keys to unlocking his mental progress in therapy, yet he's still stuck in the battles of his mind in the prison he created. This is his perception, but in "The Search" album, he literally turns this cage into a mobile prison (a shopping cart in his other videos), though he is still dragging his burdens (black balloons) with him, afraid to fully let them go out of fear of no longer being himself, or no longer being relevant and real to the concepts that made him click with others. You see people clawing at him through the prison on the outside, at concerts, they are in the cage with him cheering him on and taking pics with him when he lets them in for a short period. At the end, everyone is in the cage with him, because he let them in via the making of his music and they all embrace him for it. We are the true fans.

My bad if someone already left this comment, but I just want to point out something that you night not of caught. The cage in this video was the same one in the background in the beginning of The Search video. I never looked up To see if my interpretation of the meaning behind the symbolism is accurate or not, but I took it a him finally leaving the box that himself and others put him in so that he can do some soul searching to find out who he really is a person, artist, or both... Like I said though, that's just my interpretation.

Was this your first time hearing this song? I've noticed it in other videos as well. Either you pick up on the bars incredibly fast, or you've def heard the song before.

The NF journey means you start with Mansion, then Therapy Session, then Perception, then The Search, then CLOUDS. You do them all in chronological order, which he is not doing. Go look through his videos, they are not in order. You are very wrong :)
