For acrylic, I have found it best to raise it just a tad from the bed (put something small under each corner). The reflections from the metal seem to make the 'melty' back side. Only issue is you have to cut the insides out first or it will drop down and destroy your whole project. Thanks for the video.

Contact The Louisiana Hobby Guy for any questions. He knows the Monport machines inside out. They offered me one but they are to small a working area for the space they take in a shop in my opinion.

Just a friendly reminder - remember to wear those laser protective glasses when opening the door/leaving the door open with the machine powered on. I would not want you to be partially/fully and permanently blinded by accidental exposure to that laser. Good work and happy you have that machine to work with!

Cool
Hey brother, yes you can use antifreeze in your water, I have used (only the new type, orange) and I do about a 1/4 amount to the 5 gal bucket of distilled water. I have a 80watt Large laser now and I upgraded about 2 years ago from a k40. I also cut a hole in my 5 gal bucket lid and mounted a 4in computer fan and screen on top of that to keep out bugs, etc. And I completely cover when not using it. Keep your temp below 21 -22 Celsius temp. Never let it get over 22, 23 maybe or the heat will destroy your laser tube (know from experience). That CO2 will up your game to a whole new level. I do allot of clear acrylic pieces. Wood at like 25 times my diodes. One thing to look out for in lightburn is the machine will send a signal and likes to use machine settings for your alignment on your material which is a pain. Now ya need a galvo co2 and a fiber laser. I now do knife blades, guns, etc... let me know if I can help

KZread a guy who is a guru at mirror adjustment I can't remember his name at the moment, heck I now take mirrors out to clean and realign a couple times a month and no problems at all. Also can ise a small laser pointer taped to the tube head and adjust mirrors with it in a few mins. I also installed a small red pointer on end of end to align my laser to the material since the co2 is invisible
@TheRoadRoamer
Жыл бұрын
What? No, it’s easy. I’m a Laser Newbie both Diode (10 weeks) and specially CO2 (12 days) and I had to re-align mirrors by myself after having to turn my Tube to get the Water Inlet/Outlets toward to top of the Tube to get all the air bubble out because some1 in one of my FB K40 groups said ANY bubbles in the Tube is bad for Tube and can shorten its life. Took all of 20, maybe 25 minutes to re-align. Easy Peary. And it only took so long because I wanted to go slow to learn as much as I could about the mirrors and the laser path.
I bought one and haven’t opened yet. It’s a long story, but came to Yuma while we were 1900 mi. Away and I just wasn’t ready for it but I’ve got it and You’ve peeked my interest. So I’ll guess I’ll tag along as I get this out of its box and see what we get. But the small work area bothers me.

@@TheClackShack nice! I'll have to look into that as well
You an use alcohol as 10% of your water mixture and it won’t freeze. There are also solutions people use in PCU cooling towers that will work also. Personally i don’t think diluted antifreeze would give you any problems. I use alcohol in my CNC machine.

I will use a recent YT vid on expanding the K40 to 12x24 inches and adding Auto Focus and a motorized Z but may wait until the warranty is up (Or NOT!)… Had it two weeks and already have big plans for it.
