The Villanova vs North Carolina buzzer-beater for the National Championship deserves a deep rewind
Спорт
The last few seconds of the 2016 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Final between North Carolina and Villanova contained way more than a few seconds of drama. There's the shot that ended the game, and the shot that came right before that ... but that's not all.
To really appreciate this incredible ending to an incredible matchup, you need to go back in time and remember some stuff. You need to recall North Carolina's history as a basketball powerhouse that had hit some recent speed bumps, only to develop an absolute powerhouse that season. You need to know Villanova's tournament history, its playbook, and its own incredible 2016 run. And you need to know about the people who made the Wildcats' final possession happen -- not just their role in the play, but their relationships with their school, each other, and in one case, the opponent.
We need to rewind!

As a UNC fan I remember when I watched this with my family and after the shot went in we all sat there in complete silence for about 5 minutes straight trying to process what just happened. Luckily we won it the next year and there is a rewinder potential episode with the UNC vs Kentucky game with the almost buzzer beater
Jay Wright’s reaction is one of the coolest I’ve ever seen to a moment so big. It’s like it all plays out exactly how he expected. He watches the shot go up, says “bang”, and finally cracks a smile as he’s about to shake Williams’s hand. 😎
As a Villanova student, it’s pretty much my duty to watch this video every couple of months.
This was probably the best college basketball game I have seen in my lifetime (turned 34 yesterday). What makes it even more sweet is I had some money on Nova as well :)

I'm 45 and I have it up there with Duke Kentucky in 92
I remember watching this historical finish back in college. I went nuts after Kris Jenkins drilled the game winner. This should go down as one of the top five greatest finishes in NCAA History. I'm still waiting for the 1992 East Regional Final between Kentucky vs Duke. It's still the greatest game ever played with so many implications.

This is the greatest finish to a basketball game period. The roaring comeback, capped off with the crazy ass double clutch, to showing mj celebrating it in the crowd, to the Jenkins shot, u couldn't write it any better. The drama of sports is unmatched.

That range of emotions is crazy. To be all geeked up watching them battle back, to all out hysteria when they hit the double clutch, to heartbroken in the matter of minutes. Only sports can do that

Craziest ending to a basketball game ever. That double clutch 3 to tie it is crazy alone, but then the clutch damn near half courter. How can people not love sports, I'll never understand. Can't wait for the 1st games back
Nothing will ever replicate being at the stadium in person for this. Truly amazing and an experience I will never forget. I’ve been to multiple World Series games and they don’t even hold a candle to the excitement this game brought.
As a UNC fan this is the saddest moment I’ve faced in sports lore. However I hope this video gives some light to what it meant for everyone involved. Congrats Villanova.

I knew it was going in but I still got goosebumps from that
This was one of my lowest moments as a sports fan. It took me a week to get over that loss, but made UNC's redemption that much better to watch.
I like the other SB Nation's narrators but Seth is my favorite. His voice just sets the mood to remember some great basketball history.
The shock of watching this moment on live tv is up there with Eli throwing the Super Bowl winning touchdown to Plaxico in 2007..this was insane beyond belief
Didn't watch this but it just adds to how great a year 2016 was for sports. The entire 2016 NBA season from the dunk contest to the playoffs to the Cavs-Warriors Finals, Leicester winning the EPL, Cubs championship, Olympics, Euro 2016, etc I know I'm forgetting a lot too

Excellent video like always, but it left out what may be my favorite part of the whole story. Right as that shot goes up, you can see Jay Wright in the background. Calm, cool, collected. He simply says one word, "Bang," and walks over to shake the opposing coach's hand.
2016 was a wild year in sports. It started with this moment, Then Cleveland actually won a title (Cavs), then the Cubs won their first world series in 100+ years, Clemson upset Alabama to win the BCS and It was capped off with the Patriot's 28-3 comeback in SB51. Change my mind...
Any video narrated by this guy is automatically interesting

As a Bama fan that’s basically only watched our team have 3-5 good seasons (with 3 of them being within the past 3 years) it was one of my favorite moments of the year beating UNC. I know they didn’t have a great season this past year but the respect I have for their basketball history made it one of the best/coolest wins as a fan watching Bama basketball. Obviously my fav win of the season was tearing AU’s heart into pieces but beating UNC was something I thought I may never see our team do.
As a Heels fan, this hurt. But I was still happy for Villanova. They played a good game and earned that win.

Watched this at sports bar in Oregon. Of the 70-80 or so there, perhaps 15 were hard core Nova or NC fans, rest there to watch, drink, eat. Generally crowd thins out and gone 30-45 minutes after end. This time, people hanging out 2-3 hours later. We all just wanted to talk about what we saw. Amazing.
This is the best episode of Rewinder yet. You should really do one on '96 Olympics Women's Gymnastics Team Finals soon though!
