Freedom of speech is critical in America, but everyone has to have the same freedoms. Goldberg, and the rest of that panel have advocated for years, to cancel various individuals because of speech they did not agree with, or found offensive. You can’t have it both ways. The First Amendment either applies to every American, or it doesn’t.

To be honest I thought Jews are white people. The only difference was in religious cultures, choices and beliefs. The race thing is now confusing. Even brown skinned Indians are not called black but they have brown skin too. God needs to come down and clarify this for us as I think he is the only one who can 100%. Cause it looks like hair is the only thing that determines who is black. There are many brown people There are many white skinned people. I can't even tell who is white anymore.

I decided a long time ago that when it comes to important topics, I do not listen to what any non expert talk show host has to say. That includes the ladies of The View. I changed the channel on that show a long time ago.

Right, so am I!!! She should not come back because how is she going to feel comfortable giving her view on topics, knowing they can cut her pay again for doing so. I know she is worth millions but that $192,000 that she lost out on still hurts because it's the principle that she took that lost for. And I'm going to need a concrete definition of what it means to be Jewish because every Jewish person I know has a different history of it. Some say it's a race and others say it isn't a race; it's cultural or a religion.

Elected officials are well, elected. They can't be fired. If you want them to lose their job because of what they said then in the next election vote for someone else. Whoopie can say what she wants. It's not like she is being charged with a crime. ABC chose to suspend her, but could have fired her if they wanted. As is their right. Freedom of speech doesn't mean that a company has to keep you employed no matter what you say, even if the speech is legal.

I’m so confused. Why couldn’t they have just said, “actually Whoopi, you’re wrong and here’s why.” And explain the other side or let her know what she said was off. Nothing she said sounded malicious or racist. That’s how we learn and grow, by having conversations.

And while we can argue that the Holocaust was racial, were the Jews the only ones exterminated? Blacks, the weak, Jews etc were all sterilized or exterminated because of the need to keep the “pure race” the Aryans by the Nazis. The others for them were lower and so they dealt with them. And finally, how does the Jewish dna become European? If it is Jewish then it ought to be Middle Eastern. Most of those who claim to be Jewish today and pure Europeans with claims of link. Rosanne was fired and her show cancelled for what she twitted, Meghan Kelly was fired and her show cancelled for her remarks about black face If you are harsh with one group, you have to be with everyone, and what Whoopi say was ignorant and she double down on her remarks on Colbert and on the view. They all agree that this could have been a teachable moment educating not only her but the audience about the Holocaust in a segment on the show, some people believe that the Holocaust is a lie.

Why was they all not suspended

This matter actually exposes the poor understanding of the matter of race that prevades human society. Being Jewish isn't about a specific race (and "race" doesn't have a definite definition) as not even those who claim to be Jewish can all agree on what being Jewish actually is. What there was underpinning the Holocaust was what is referred to as antisemitism... Which defines a hostility to, prejudice towards, or discrimination against people generally perceived as "...Jews...". But be clear... During WW2, there were people who were killed as a part of the Holocaust simply because they gave aid to people perceived as "...Jews..." (reference Corrie Ten Boom). It should also be noted that the Nazis were carrying out a type of eugenics which included the killing of people with mental disabilities. To be a Jew would require a person being a direct descendent of one of the sons of Jacob, who later became named Israel (this is impossible to determine/confirm as there is no DNA available), or be a citizen of the nation of Judah (which hasn't existed for some 2,500 years), or be an adherent of/hold to the religion of Judaism. There is some thinking that being Jewish can be a matter of culture too. Suffice to say... Apart from holding to the religion of Judaism, no one can really have a valid claim to being Jewish... And even then, there are many differing thoughts on just what defines the religion of Judaism... Keeping in mind that it is impossible to actually keep the Torah (the law give by God to Moses for the Israelites) as there is no temple in Jerusalem to keep the requirements in (blood sacrifices). And yes, I understand that those who today claim to be Jews believe that forgiveness of sin is obtained through repentance, prayer, and good deeds. But this is just a human contrived fix... It is not according to the law God gave to Moses... Which tells us that blood must be shed for the forgivness of sin. So all this said... Given all the lack of real clarity regarding the matter of a Jewish race, religion, culture... Whoppi was not wrong in saying that the Holocaust was about man's inhumanity to man... Because that was exactly what it was. And scripturally speaking... That is exactly what we have at the very beginning of the Hebrew bible, in Cain's killing of his brother, Abel. Even in the story of Adam and Eve we have a type of man's inhumanity to man, as God told Adam that if he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil he would surly die. I guess Adam thought he knew better than God... Which is to say... Spiritually speaking... Adam treated himself inhumanely. And the above are just two references regarding man's inhumanity to man that are within the Hebrew bible... There are many, many more. No doubt Whoopi could have spoken about the matter in a more considerate way... But she wasn't really wrong... The Holocaust was simple yet another example of man's inhumanity to man. And whether you like to hear it or not... None of us are above falling into the wretchedness that is the disposition that causes man's inhumanity to man... The fact is, it's inherent in natural humanity. Humans are just too proud to admit it. And there it is... The base of it all... Human pride.

Great breakdown! Whoopi did not say anything wrong, in my opinion. It was about hatred, like she said. You can hate people for many reasons like for being rich, being poor, looking better than you, being more successful, their religion, sex, race, etc. Hatred is the main category and all the reasons for it are the subcategories. I can see if Whoopi said that they had the right to murder people, then that would be a reason to be upset. But the show is called The View and it was her view. So why not dedicate an entire show to understanding what being Jewish really means and to clear up the confusion instead of suspending her like she's a kid who cursed at a teacher.

If you have disciplinary polices they should apply to all. Not just based on what is said but also their overall behavior. Her erractic behavior on that show should have gotten her suspended. There were days that Megan Mcain came across like an 'unhinged crazy person. It was scary.

"The Holocaust isn't about race. It's about man's inhumanity to man." Where exactly is the antisemitism? She is saying that the way the Nazis treated Jewish people was inhumane. The only thing you can criticize her for is the fact that she didn't consider Jews to be a racial group. I don't think that came from a place of hate. Many Jewish people look white. I don't even like Whoopi, and she has had plenty of bad takes in the past, but I can't make myself feel mad about this.

The etymology of the world race is "people descended from a common ancestor, class of persons allied by common ancestry," from French race, earlier razza "race, breed, lineage, family". Jews are a race because they are descended from the Israelites. In the UK ethnicity is mostly about skin color. If you look white you're white. If you look white and you have a British accent you're White British.

It used to be, but then they found out they could make more money if they put in personalities that were liable to clash. Hence why some of the discussions are on par with the real housewives. I would be willing to give it a second chance if they found a moderator who was actually moderate, and the remaining four cohosts belong to more than two parties. For instance, one Democrat, one Republican (a real Republican, none of this downplay the insurrection nonsense), a green, a libertarian (preferably pro science), and maybe just for shits and giggles’s a representative from Andrew Yang’s new forward party.

The Problem is The View has helped to cause this kind of ugly "cancel culture" behavior.I used to enjoy this show but it has become so politicized and mean spirited to anyone who doesn't agree 100% with their views....so karma is coming back to the sources..Maybe some day we can all act like normal people without being afraid of cancel culture simply for having a different opinion.

I agree/well said. Allow people to express them self and to learn so things can be that little bit more clearer for us all. -It will not happen though as some of these issues will have no defined place me in this box over here answers and will have people looking stupid or placed in a particular category. well then why doesn't Whoopi see white on black crimes in the same light ( mankind killing mankind)? Or Black on Black crime in the same way? 98% of crimes against blacks is by blacks. Same with white on white crime its 98% . People hurt people no matter what their race is. Color and race rarely play a role in murders today. Its mans hatred toward man. And the police are not all the same race either. Police make mistakes and we need to see that and punish it.

Whoopi wasn't true when you are European and actually know the history of WW2 and Hitler. But American culture dictates her career needs to be destroyed. We would actually give her a second chance. I could never be a public figure, you have to be very deliberate with your words. I don’t think Whoopi meant to dismiss or deny what sparked the Holocaust. And I appreciate their response. It’s so sad that we hold a host of the view accountable for making this kind of remark but do nothing about politicians who use misinformation for their personal gain.

People are experts in certain Fields say the wrong thing and they're actually experts. Whoopi Goldberg’s suspension should be a wake up call to black people. Her suspension sends a message that if your black ass doesn’t stay on code or on message the liberal white media will be cancel and throw your black ass away like yesterday’s trash to. I listened to her comments, and they were not egregious and she did not come from a hateful place she simply just misspoke, When she said the Holocaust was not about race. It was about race because of Hitlers idea of what he considered a master race. But nothing she said encouraged antisemitism. She said several times, “I thought I was having a conversation,” No Whoopi what you really meant to say is that because you were talking among liberal white people, you thought you were talking among friends, well you thought wrong. And if Whoopi thought appropriating a Jewish last name was going to save her black ass she thought wrong again. I did a video on my Channel about it, please watch share and subscribe.

@@yeezylegit4883 it was not not about race it was about ethnicity and religion just as what is called racism is really about colorism. There is only one race y the human race. If you subscribe to the fact that it was about race then your belief is that Jews are other. Race is a scientific classification system. The fact that the Nazis said it was about race does not mean that we should allow that be the prevailing thought. We need to change that narrative others we will always thing of JEWS, BLacks, Armenians, Asians, Indians, etc. as the “OTHER”. From the time we start school we are told that there is only one race the human race. But then as we grow older everything in American society tries to divide us into different races and we blindly accept it. Again white supremacist are the ones that talk about race to divide and we’ve bought into it.

People kill thousands of others for subtle differences in their face shape e.g. in former Yugoslavia and in Afghanistan, people who are Arab kill other Arabs for their apparent ethnicity and eastern euro folk kill eastern euro folk. I don’t get it either, the holocaust happened because of a person belief, Jews were targeted for their belief. Idk where the tf race came into play. Aryan being the superior race? But doesn’t that align to men inhumanity to men, how people inhumanly differentiate other humans based on their race? Cancel culture really targets everyone but forgets about the real problems, the ones that need cancelling get away.

Well Barbie Whoopi has defended Bill Cosby but withdrew support after backlash and if you look at what she said about Roman Polanski's rape of a 13 year old as not a real rape.... Whoopi has said 100 things that would have got anyone else straight up fired. What she said this time was racist and insensitive as all hell. Never downplay or deny the holocaust because it was one of the worst events in human history and by a standard of time in human history it was pretty recent. This woman should be straight fired.
