I was so fortunate to have been one of her students!!!! I still remember her kindness and generosity. It is such an honor to have been one of the first classes she EVER taught at Livingston School!! Congratulations on your retirement.

Thank you for all you do I had a teacher that changed my life he died in 9/11
This is a slam dunk by the View! Much respect to the educators and teachers out there - they deserve much more compensation and elevated location status than American history has allowed them!
Joy is absolutely correct about teachers being underpaid and under appreciated.💕They are the glue that holds our country together and deserve more money, just to start

It's all why the right wants to end public education, fire teachers and ban books. It's about keeping Americans stupid and controlled.
I am in tears, with all her students there. That a lot of patience ❤
Everyone taking of their masks to reveal she inspired them as their teacher and her husband as well. This was a beautiful segment. Bravo to her and all the wonderful teachers whom make differences in so many lives daily. 💙💙💙.
What a wonderful teacher 🥲
This was one of the most beautiful and touching segment!!! I was emotionally crying for her ❤❤❤
I’ve only been a teacher for 13 years and this has me bawling 😭

I’m crying, are you? Such a wonderful segment
My little boy has ADHD I don’t know what I would’ve done without Mrs. Young ❤ 1st grade. I so much appreciate you and all the teachers do for our children, bless you all . Have a wonderful vacation!
what an emotional show. when i was a kid my elementary teachers are the people in my life that guides me to achieve an education that could change my life forever, both my parents has no education, they only finished 3rd grade. I am the only one in my family who has a bachelor's degree because of the encouragement from my elementary school teachers that I took seriously. I remember vividly that whenever they can not see me in school they come to our house check with my parents if I am okay or not, most of my grade school teachers did it. Now I am a Registered Nurse and working in Operating Room doing surgeries every single day helping the sick people, and I owed this profession first and foremost to my elementary teachers. Thank you very very much to all teachers out there!

Congratulations...and you are correct...my mother did the same thing! Teachers revere every student as "my kids" ❤
This was an amazing surprise honor. Good educators change lives and deserve more respect, higher pay than they get in the U.S. Keep standards high and *pay them.*
Mrs. Dorothy Moreno was the teacher who made a difference in my life
As a former career teacher, your students become part of your “daytime” family- more than just a name. This segment was very touching for me.
This was an absolutely lovely segment. Fantastic salute to a class act educator❤️
It's so hard not to cry...we really need to appreciate our teachers for real❤
Thank you to all teachers for doing such a fantastic job.,
I'm bawling my eyes out right now. Thank all of the teachers for allowing you do daily
Love this! Teachers deserve this kind of recognition more often! And of course to be paid more. Thank you teachers!!! ❤❤❤
We are not treating our teachers with professionalism and respect and this will ultimately hurt our children. Why not put the energy directed at book banning toward supporting our schools and teachers?

You said it!
This segment of the View, really touches my❤ I cried like I lost one of my family's, it's nice to honor a out standing Teachers👍👏👏👏
Congratulations on your retirement. I had 3 teachers change the trajectory of my life after it went off the rails when my mother died my junior year. From that day to this at 43 years of age...with children of my own...I have thanked them many times over the years because I was lost. Always remember...ONE person can change your life simply by not giving up on you. You can be that change for someone else. You ARE important. You DO matter. Thanks to ALL Teachers and educators!📢📢📢 🙏🏿💪🏿🖤
OMG ❤ I had a knot in my throat the entire time. My heart would be so full. Loved this segment!!
Wow what a great segment! More of this please! Teachers are some of the best people in the world!
This was the best ever! From a teacher to all teachers -BRAVO!
Who is cutting onions 😢😢😢 God bless all the teachers we've met along the way
One of the best segments they have ever done.
Absolutely fabulous celebration today!🎉🎊40 years is an amazing teaching career🎊🎉💐💞☮️☯️I was in tears as her students sang her praises!👏👏👏👏
Such a beautiful segment. I left teaching years ago but have never forgotten my students. It’s clear this woman is a remarkable teacher and left a positive impact on so many children. Teachers are not celebrated enough for everything they do.
Thank you Miss De Baere! I'm sorry it's probably been difficult to buy all your own classroom supplies and not getting paid great in the first place, but we thank you and all teachers.
My mother was a teacher in Northern VA. She had a lot of really poor kids in her class. Most would come to school, hungry, some with urine on them from sleeping on the same mattress as their brothers and sisters. My mom donated all of our clothes (me and my younger siblings) to her students and she often fed them. My mom got in trouble for giving the parents of some of her students her address so they could come and pick up furniture and books and whatever else they needed.
Did I just cry ! This is all humanity is to be about ! So much kindness and love ❤️
This is wonderful! Thank you for spending 40 years with our children and shaping their lives. May God richly bless you.
I’ve been watching The View since it started and this has to be one of the best segments I’ve ever seen on the show! I quit teaching years ago to start a new career and I’ve been missing the classroom lately. This segment brought happy tears to my eyes!😂 It’s important to reach out to people in certain careers to let them know they are appreciated and valued (teachers, nurses, police and fire workers, mail carriers and many more)…their jobs are crucial to the success of our nation!
Tears rolling down my face. Todays society and many generations where both parents have to work to provide for there families. Teachers are responsible to educate there children and teach those children the fundamentals of LIFE--Teachers deserve so much more and rarely are given the credit they're SO deserving of, they shape the future for all of us God Bless
This is so touching ❤ some teachers are in a sense like the mother or father a child never had. Teachers have such a significant role
Its always confused me how quickly respect for teachers went so far down hill.

It’s the parenting.
Boy, this segment had me in tears! I´m a mess! So so amazing!
This is the best thing you guys have put out this year. As a teacher's son, this has deep meanings for me. From Nigeria with love
How lovely. I’m in my late 30’s but always fondly remember my favourite teachers
I wish every teacher would be celebrated like this! People don't go into a teaching career because of the money, it's their love of teaching and the kids they teach. Both of my sisters retired from teaching; one after 40 years and the other's career cut short (25 yrs teaching) by the abysmal education laws put in place in Wisconsin several years ago. They both have former students who've said these exact things and several they still keep in touch with. It breaks my heart people in this country don't recognize the everlasting value of wonderful teachers. This had me in tears from start to finish.
I cried. This was elevating.
Mrs. DeBaere was my 4th grade teacher in 1989. She was short even to a kid, but was a good teacher. I even talk about her to my kids
My gosh, I cried too yes... Fabulous absolutely deserving as a long time educator. God bless you Madam. 🙏
I had a teacher like Miss debear in my life and just watching this just makes my heart Happy❤️
The best thing I've seen on The View in a long time. Bravo.
Good teachers deserve the world! So grateful for my son’s teachers.
One of the problems is that kids AND parents don't respect teachers... I think of the cartoon/meme of the parents yelling at the student for something bad they did 40 years ago, but now they yell and blame the teacher for their kids actions.. We don't value/respect each other and kids are not taught to respect adults anymore! Thank you to all the wonderful teachers out there... We all wouldn't be who we are without you!!!!
not gonna lie...this made me cry

I know.. what an amazing life - she touched so many people's lives :-)
I have been teaching for twenty years…and some of those years have been at my former middle school and high school….I cried all the way through this segment 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This made me cry! 38 years old and it immediately made me think of Mrs. LaPenta, Mrs. Failla, Mrs. Corbett (my K-2 teachers). They are still part of the fabric of my brain and soul. And I picture them in my memory alongside my closest family members because they had THAT MUCH of an impact on me. Bless you teachers. Thank you every, single, day.
What an amazing teacher! 👏
Hats off to you Mrs. DeBaere that's what true teaching is all about you made a difference!!👏👏👏👏
This was THE MOST Beautiful appreciation I have ever seen I could not stop crying it was so lovely
I had good teachers growing up. I used to give them Valentine's Day cards and candy just to say thank you 😊
Love Joy trying to make room for all the flowers 🤣
I bawled through this! So beautiful!
Hire teachers to write until the strike is over. 😊
I loved this segment. I want to do this for one of my former teachers.
This was a great episode. I used to commute with a lady who was a second grade teacher. When the shuttle bus stopped at her school, some students would run to greet her. You could see how much her students loved her.
Questions are the continuation of sharing information and the topic of "Teacher's Appreciation" is unquestionable. Their co-parenting, outside of the home, becomes a big part of how students aka children view and respond on life's journey. Thank you, for teaching us all. #Priceless
This made me cry,😢. Mrs Debaere , Happy Retirement 🎉🎊🎉🎉🎊🎉🙏🍾🍾 Many blessings to you. One of the many wonderful teachers we have in Union Township NJ. Awesome for this recognition! 🙏🙏🎉🎊🎉🎊💕💕💕💕
Thank you for uplifting that teacher. I have been dreaming about such a scenario for sometime. I would also like to meet my former pupils/students.
What a awesome tribute!! Way to go View!
I’m not crying, you are.
One of the best episodes ever!
I am an educator in Florida. Thank you for this segment and letting others know how teachers across the U.S. work tirelessly to educate students who enter our classrooms each year!❤❤❤🎉🎉
❤ To all the teachers! My heart is open now.
We need to see more of these BEAUTIFUL stories! I salute you QUEEN! #BLESSINGS
Tears!!! Ugh! This was beautiful!!! Great segment ladies!!
Parents saw a whole different side of teachers during COVID
this made my eyes water. ==== As a parent of 2 elementary school aged children -- I am so very very thankful for their teachers. They truly do the job out of love. They are the real heroes.
What a wonderful appreciation momentous display of a job well done! Mrs D thank you enjoy!🎉❤😊
Great teachers groom great citizens
I think I would be in uncontrollable tears... this was so very sweet
The entire theater is there for her. That’s incredible.
I love my teachers! English teachers always were the rock in my development. They didn’t stifle my expressions and encouraged it. Ms. Austin, lundeburg thanks a million
I love this show❤ Especially Sunny’s intellectual style 😊
Now this is what the show is all about
Beautiful. God bless you ma'am
this is so moving - wishing you Mrs DeBaere much happiness in your retirement - you will surely missed -
🥦🟦⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️best part of my day🎉congratulations Ms. DeBaer
I was so touched by this remarkable teacher. God Bless her and you to honor her. What a true blessing she is. I love that everyone stepped up to be there. I would’ve done the same for a few of my teachers too❤
Amazing segment. 🥺💕
Well... I definitely didn't think The View would have me crying today.
this is on eof the best segments ever! had me in joyous tears!
Im in tears watching this
Joy taught at Lindenhurst HS and I taught at Brentwood HS the same time on Long Island . I am STILL teaching, but now I am teaching in Japan. Kids are the same all over the world; they all need good teachers. And society should support teachers more. Finland 's education system in a model for all of us. They have high standards for their teachers and students, and the teaching profession is well-paid and highly respected. Lots to learn from Finland.
Thank you for this. Loved hearing Mrs. DeBaere’s story. ❤ Teachers, thank you for making a difference in our future.
Amazing..... What away to send her off. God bless her and all her students; those whose lives she's touched and those who's lives have also touched hers. God bless ❤❤❤
You should get in contact with former teachers of Towslee elementary school in the city Brunswick in Ohio. That's my old elementary school I went to kindergarten thru 6th. Towslee was built in 1962, had one of the most amazing principals for 15 years til he passed away in March 1999, his name was Mr. Parschen. When he passed away the city flew all of the American flags around the town at half staff, he was not in the military in the past, but he was just loved THAT much, it devestated the whole city! They even named a street after him. He was known for his love of all things Disney, had Disney decorations all around the school, abd even dressed as a Disney character on many Halloweens. He brought the magic to Towslee. Mr. Parschen even threw the BEST veteran events every year, that veterans from near and far would come to the school just to be there, because the tributes were so special, touching, and honorable. He had such a profound impact on so many people! Such an abundant amount of memories. Now in 2023 Towslee is going to be demolished....At some point after this summer or Fall, I think. So, on April 27th this year there was a community event at Towslee itself, many of my former teachers were there that I had in the 90's! Many of whom had been a teacher there since the 80's, and they left Towslee within around 2 or less years after Mr. Parschen passed away. I think perhaps too painful to stay without him there as principal, too many memories. Anyway, I went to this community event at the school, it was PACKED with people. I got to see teachers that I haven't seen in 25 years! They all rememered me too. It was such a surreal experience seeing these teachers that not only did I think I would never see again, but to see them all at the same time AND at the very school I had them for a teacher at, was like a dream. At certain moments throughout the time there that evening I kept stopping, looking around, and thinking this is real? And just taking it all in. I took many photos of course. Would love to see Towslee on your show. An amazing story to capture your audience.
OMG! 😭😭😭God bless you Mrs Debere!!! Wow, such dedication! Thank you for your service of love!
Wow! Congrats to her🎉❤
I'm over here Ballin my eyes out. She deserves it
I had an amazing, supportive teacher when I was 11yo and my Mum left my abusive father. I had no confidence and was scared of people. Ms. Todd believed in me and my intelligence and encouraged me. I ended up getting a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing and having a career for 15years, now in Speciality Internal medicine for past 4years. Working with all sorts of animals and even the occasional Dolphin, Lion, Gorilla and injured Police Dog!!
