what an emotional show. when i was a kid my elementary teachers are the people in my life that guides me to achieve an education that could change my life forever, both my parents has no education, they only finished 3rd grade. I am the only one in my family who has a bachelor's degree because of the encouragement from my elementary school teachers that I took seriously. I remember vividly that whenever they can not see me in school they come to our house check with my parents if I am okay or not, most of my grade school teachers did it. Now I am a Registered Nurse and working in Operating Room doing surgeries every single day helping the sick people, and I owed this profession first and foremost to my elementary teachers. Thank you very very much to all teachers out there!

My mother was a teacher in Northern VA. She had a lot of really poor kids in her class. Most would come to school, hungry, some with urine on them from sleeping on the same mattress as their brothers and sisters. My mom donated all of our clothes (me and my younger siblings) to her students and she often fed them. My mom got in trouble for giving the parents of some of her students her address so they could come and pick up furniture and books and whatever else they needed.

I quit teaching years ago to start a new career and I’ve been missing the classroom lately. This segment brought happy tears to my eyes!😂 It’s important to reach out to people in certain careers to let them know they are appreciated and valued (teachers, nurses, police and fire workers, mail carriers and many more)…their jobs are crucial to the success of our nation!

I wish every teacher would be celebrated like this! People don't go into a teaching career because of the money, it's their love of teaching and the kids they teach. Both of my sisters retired from teaching; one after 40 years and the other's career cut short (25 yrs teaching) by the abysmal education laws put in place in Wisconsin several years ago. They both have former students who've said these exact things and several they still keep in touch with. It breaks my heart people in this country don't recognize the everlasting value of wonderful teachers. This had me in tears from start to finish.

One of the problems is that kids AND parents don't respect teachers... I think of the cartoon/meme of the parents yelling at the student for something bad they did 40 years ago, but now they yell and blame the teacher for their kids actions.. We don't value/respect each other and kids are not taught to respect adults anymore! Thank you to all the wonderful teachers out there... We all wouldn't be who we are without you!!!!

Kids are the same all over the world; they all need good teachers. And society should support teachers more. Finland 's education system in a model for all of us. You should get in contact with former teachers of Towslee elementary school in the city Brunswick in Ohio. That's my old elementary school I went to kindergarten thru 6th. Towslee was built in 1962, had one of the most amazing principals for 15 years til he passed away in March 1999, his name was Mr. Parschen. When he passed away the city flew all of the American flags around the town at half staff, he was not in the military in the past, but he was just loved THAT much, it devestated the whole city! They even named a street after him. He was known for his love of all things Disney, had Disney decorations all around the school, abd even dressed as a Disney character on many Halloweens. He brought the magic to Towslee. Mr. Parschen even threw the BEST veteran events every year, that veterans from near and far would come to the school just to be there, because the tributes were so special, touching, and honorable. He had such a profound impact on so many people! Such an abundant amount of memories. Now in 2023 Towslee is going to be demolished....At some point after this summer or Fall, I think. So, on April 27th this year there was a community event at Towslee itself, many of my former teachers were there that I had in the 90's! Many of whom had been a teacher there since the 80's, and they left Towslee within around 2 or less years after Mr. Parschen passed away. I think perhaps too painful to stay without him there as principal, too many memories. Anyway, I went to this community event at the school, it was PACKED with people. I got to see teachers that I haven't seen in 25 years! They all rememered me too. It was such a surreal experience seeing these teachers that not only did I think I would never see again, but to see them all at the same time AND at the very school I had them for a teacher at, was like a dream. At certain moments throughout the time there that evening I kept stopping, looking around, and thinking this is real? And just taking it all in. I took many photos of course. Would love to see Towslee on your show. An amazing story to capture your audience.

Ms. Todd believed in me and my intelligence and encouraged me. I ended up getting a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing and having a career for 15years, now in Speciality Internal medicine for past 4years. Working with all sorts of animals and even the occasional Dolphin, Lion, Gorilla and injured Police Dog!!
