• DIY Shed Electrical Ro...
In this video I go over the electrical setup for my shed. The original video had a lot of questions and comments so I thought I would clarify things. I go over the setup from the main house panel right over to the shop. Please feel free to leave a comment or question, and like and subscribe to the channel.

We all like to it right & when holding your work out for the world to see takes some guts. Some viewers will nitpick. Having an electrician give guidance and check that you comply with local codes was an intelligent move and helps in case there's any insurance issues. P.S. You got a nice piece of property there, I think I saw a lake in the background too. Good Job thanks

Yeah. His consultand did a good job of allowing a #1O non metallic sheath cable to be connected to a 40 amp breaker.

Maybe the light bulb in your head didn't go off when you noticed the #10 Romex splicing to the #8 that you ran out to the shed. Either change out the #1O non metallic sheath cable for #8 or change out the circuit breaker for a 30 amp one.

It's a smart thing he did showing his work off and accepting criticism and expertise of others to help him correct mistakes and provide a safe installation.

@@johndavies2949 Maybe the 10 feeds the larger shed / barn and the 8 feeds his shop?? You can see there are both cables in the sill area headed outside.

Do you have a 40 amp breaker feeding a 10/3 which is only good for 30 amps in non metallic sheath cable.

It is possible I got wires or breakers mixed up. There was a 10/3 and an 8/3 running beside one another.

So your qualified person,(NEC art. 100). didn't tell you that your 10/3 is not supposed to be fed by a 40 amp breaker. You said "kinda correct". How does "Kinda burned up" get you?

o geez for the love of almighty get that stab lock panel replaced next or you will be living in the garage with no power because the house burnt down lol a side note though none of your breakers should trip and in wall heating is almost as good as in floor lol

That is a good question. Again I am not an electrician, so I would suggest contacting a local electrician in your area to get a proper answer. Thank you for watching!

Hope you don't mind my two cents: Junction boxes are used inside and outside, PVC is now recognized in most jurisdictions. Usually one transitions from a building to the outside utilizing a LB Conduit Body or Condulet, You can also use a junction box like in this video. If you are talking about building a box around the electrical panel you can buy a panel rated for outdoor, or you could buy an appropriate plastic box or build a wooden box, Be careful some inspectors get a bit touchy go in and talk to your building department and see what the are used to or what they recommend, I'd also recommend that you pull a permit because if you have a fire and have unapproved electrical work the insurance company may refuse payments.
