This home is so beautiful! Just absolutely STUNNING! So glad to see someone actually restoring a historic home instead of gutting it and making it look like every other modern home that exists now.

I’d cry too if I owned that home. The rotunda took my breath away. It’s glorious and the homeowner did a stunning job!

@@hughberry7434 hugh, is most of the feature work we see original installatons that have been repaired (ie the cornicing and mosaic) or is it new reproductions. Also, please tell me how you felt when you discovered thise friezes. You should be proud of what you have acheived here.

St. Hugh! What an extraordinary man! To have come in and rescued, then painstakingly restored this mid-19th century wonder to it's original glory, is a kind of miracle. At least, in my eyes. God bless you, Hugh!

This is a stunning ageless work of art, i shudder at how so called modern has resulted in a square empty space with huge glass windows, leaving no privacy or place for dignity at all. It must be a mind control conspircy that we have accepted that, leaving us too frightened to entertain the idea of true beauty. I think its time the people went back to the days of glorious beauty instead of blank walls with windows.

The favourite space is the Atrium. A quiet space with plants and places to sit allowing one to soak up the greenery. A rainy day would be perfect.

Stunning gorgeous work and it looks totally like an aristocratic residence. Imagine if the entire house was owned and decorated to this standard. The effect is perfection.

This is the most spectacular place I have ever seen...it indeed does make you weep when you take in all of it. Its a feast for the eyes! Layers upon layers of beauty. To live in something like this must be heaven on earth. There are castles, chateaus, grand villas and then you have this Victorian opulence that has a little bit of all of those other places...but a total sense of "home sweet home." I wish I lived there!

I would have to agree with you, Juliana. Were I to win 'big time' in a lottery, I would meet with my architect and pull up this video and share that these are the details that I would expect to be incorporated into my new home. It's dateless, classic and still exudes a sense of comfort and cosy. Hugh did an amazing job of the renovation/restoration which is undoubtedly testament to his passion for architectural provenance. Hugh IS Very ' SIMPÁTICO' ( a Brazilian word for friendly and aLL smiles) and very humble, my favourite personality trait . Also, If you are a Scots, ( I am a Brazilian ) , You could take measures to see Hugh' s home become a museum. Finally, the music chosen to accompany the home tour fits in with the style of the place.

How lovely. The owner has outdone himself! I lived in Edinburgh as a student 40 years ago and saw some spectacular homes, but never anything like this wonderful Glasgow property. Though I was once at a party at someone’s parents’ home in Kingsborough (? Burgh?) Gardens , if I remember the street correctly.

It is a masterpiece with luxurious palace look. Such beautiful intricate detailing n painting on band carved walls n ceiling. Awesome flooring n royal taste of furniture.

I needed this! Where I live, a sort of cold, contemporary aethetic holds us hostage. This home is exuberant, and an appreciation for the arts and for artisans oozes out of every cornice, curtain, and cushion. I imagine it sort of gradually unfolding before you - discovering small treasures as you get to know the space. Well done!

All credit to its owner...........this gorgeous house looks like it has always been this way.......anyone else wouldve stripped out and painted it white which wouldve been a BIG SHAME.

It’s called a “conservatory” or “winter garden”. Given your profession it’s shocking you don’t already know this.

This house is magnificent. This is the proper way to interior decorate. It actually likes lived in. I hate that modern crap that’s been forced upon us. The good Gentleman who’s responsible for this is a Master Interior Architect. There is not one display of Kitsch. The Pompeian fresco’s (?) look more authentic now uncovered of wallpaper than they may’ve in their newness. This is a proper townhouse. And thankGod for the rich of that day. Look what they left us with. Don’t let the woke because they’ll hate. The woke are the ugly ones. Antifa would destroy this entire house in 5 minutes.

This is a truly beautiful home…but I think the decor is a little too much and competes with the ornate ceilings , windows ..and bones of the home

Hello Steve, I have to disagree with you. I'm not rich at all, I created my home on a very very small budget. its about buying furniture & furnishings at the right places, at the right price,. I also did most of the work myself, and most of it was carried out in the evening after my day job...Some people have a gift for creating beautiful interiors for next to nothing. I'm nervous about trying anything because I'm always scared I'll totally overrun my budget and be left with rubbish. Also, how long did the whole thing take you?

Very un-Scottish vulgar display of “possessions “ that used an army of underpaid retainers to keep them dusted. The Victorians over-indulged themselves in very bad taste but everything was well crafted & hangs around today often in a pretty sound condition, the simpler pieces are the best.

Its so overdone I can't even watch anymore. Its claustrophobic.
