The Victor Flight - Take Off - Part 1

During 1991, while serving in the RAF on the Victor K2 tankers, I was offered the opportunity to fly in the 5th seat from Cyprus over Iraq and back to Cyprus on a refuelling flight. I was given permission to film my experience and the original tape was passed to the BBC in 1995 to assist in the production of the final Victor farewell documentary. The clip is a little DIY as it was taken using early video camera equipment and later moved onto VHS and then onto Digital.
Footage captured in military operations during "Operation Warden" and the patrolling of the No-Fly Zone over Iraq. Possibly the last time the Victor was filmed in active service.
This was filmed in Victor XH672 or Maid Marion as the Squadron called her. She was the last Victor to fly and landed for the last time on the 30th of November 1993 at RAF Shawbury. She is now on display at the RAF Cosford Aerospace Museum.
