What impresses me most about the Silenced version is just how silent is the bolt mechanism between shots. You can hear the lever action of a silenced Winnie at a reasonable distance, while the Vetterli is absolutely silent at ridiculously low distances. If Long Ammo wasn't so dominating over the meta, I'd be tempted to say that Crytek should make that mechanism a bit louder, because only the Bow beats it in this category.

Vetterli feels like home to me. Never fails.

You can also treat the Vetterli as an Uppercut. It's basically the same damage output and damage falloff (with a very slight, barely noticeable and definitely negligible advantage for the Uppercut) as that long ammo revolver. So, basically... The Vetterli is a three slots Uppercut that has less sway and more ammo. That, or the Uppercut is a pocket Vetterli. Using FMJ rounds therefore make it better in penetration and damage than an Uppercut, for a fraction of the price. It's simply the best versatile weapon of the game.

Vetterli does have better damage over distance, around twice as mush ohk range if i remember correctly. The math works differently for single-slot long ammo weapons

You can't really treat the Vetterli as an uppercut when it's entire appeal is that it's a single slot weapon with high damage and velocity. I understand the comparison that you're trying to draw, but there's literally no situation in which you would take a Vetterli over an uppercut, because the entire purpose of taking a single uppercut is to supplement the lack of a rifle when you run a shotgun, or as a follow up gun to your sniper rifle. It's like comparing an officer carbine to a regular nagant officer...

@@Fenrir1398 Wait... What ? The Vetterli is single shot ?... Also, that's why I said the Vetterli is kind of a three-slots Uppercut. Three slots. That's it's the best versatile rifle in the game. Not the best rifle, but for $105 you have the same perf as an Uppercut. The comparison is not meant to say both are the same, it's meant to help people who dislike medium ammo that it's actually not that bad. If you think the Uppercut is a viable option for mid-range, then the Vetterli is at least as good as that and even better since it has less sway and way more headshot range for long range. All I'm saying is that the stats for the Vetterli and the Uppercut are basically the same. I'm not considering a shotgun loadout. People will play what they want, I don't care. I only focus on those two weapons performing very similarly for what they are (single bullet-spitting weapons).

The entire purpose of the uppercut is to supplement the lack of a rifle when you can't take a rifle (lack of quartermaster) and by default for balancing it has bad handling. People arent taking the uppercut because they think the Vetterli is a bad mid range option, they take it because then they can take a shotgun to dominate in close quarters or for followup shots with a large rifle. Not to mention the uppercut is deep into the caldwell conversion unlocks whereas the Vetterli is unlocked straight from bloodline. I'm confused why you are trying to sell on the Vetterli so hard using the Uppercut as an example when the root of their purpose is entirely different.

@@Fenrir1398 My bad, I read "single shot" instead of "single slot". I'm comparing the two because it's relevant. Not because they are "the exact same weapons in every regard". I'm not trying to sell anyone the Vetterli. I'm just saying that the Vet. hits as hard as an Uppercut. Many people despise medium ammo for being crap yet love playing the Uppercut. That's where the comparison ends. I'm not comparing possible loadouts of various uses (such as the Uppercut paired with a shotgun). I don't care about that at all. I'm just, merely, simply, candidly, only reminding people that the Vet. hits hard, that medium ammo is not that bad for short to medium range encounters, and that the Vet. slaps just as much as the well beloved Uppercut that everyone worships. Most people believe that because the uppercut uses long ammo means it's better than any medium ammo weapon. You wouldn't believe how many people were surprised when I told them the Vet. is basically the same as an Uppercut damage/damage falloff wise. Do they have a different use ? Yes ! That's absolutely not the point, you're way off on that one. Comparing the damage stats is different from comparing two weapons and the different uses they may have. Sheesh. I swear the Hunt community is so irritable and defensive over everything when we talk about gun stats... TL;DR : Vetterli is underrated. Medium ammo is shit ammo in most minds until you tell them that being shot with a Vetterli is basically the same thing as being shot with an Uppercut. Makes them reconsider their stance on medium ammo and especially on the Vetterli, which is the best low-priced medium ammo gun in the game. If you wanna read into that and blow it way out of proportions, that's on you :)

I almost never lose a game when I pair the vetterli with a compact Romero. It's the most versatile load out.

Silenced and deadeye are my favorite. I feel like they need another medium ammo gun in the game or just a balanced centennial. I don’t see why the centennial has a slower fire rate than the vetterli… Id be happy if they take the centennial muzzle velocity down and increase the fire rate.

Like home mentioned in his centennial video it feels like crytek doesn’t know what they want the centennial to be. The bullet speed and sniper scope make it seem like it should be better at range, but the low damage and the fact it’s a leveling gun make it seem like it should be a close range option. I think crytek should pick one or the other, either give the centennial higher damage and lower the vetterli so the centennial is long range or give the sniper scope to the vetterli in place of the marksman and buff the centennial hip fire and leveling. I’d prefer the second option personally.

That last bit sings true. The Vetterli marksman variant really does make the springfield feel even more obsolete than it already is. I would even go as far as to say it would be better for weapon variety/specialization for it to be removed but I understand that removing weapons is a big no no for Crytek

Nah, the springfield still has its justification, it still fills its very own niche in hunt. Its not good but its ridiculously cheap, its the definition of "it'll do". Its the pax thats become entirely obsolete in the medium ammo bracket, there is no reason to ever use a pax over a scottfield variant except the pretty legendary skins. Which is a shame imo.

@@BraindeadCRY I still think that the springfield could have been a great fill-in for a long range medium ammo rifle, keeping the Vetterli as a medium range brawling weapon given its 'fatter' iron sights and shorter barrel. And removing the Vetterli Marksman would play into that even more As for the Pax, I do kind of agree but I still think that the pax feels more reliable. I don't know exactly why but I think its the faster reload (when the rounds are NOT all empty) but it could be personal preference

The Springfield is low key crazy good though, it’s hip fire is as good if not better than the vetterli, it has dum dum ammo, and it only has a 2 second reload (as compared to 3 or 4 seconds for the long ammo single shot rifles). My winning percentage is higher with the Springfield than any other gun. I don’t understand why, but it’s busted. I think crytek needs to rework or remove the centennial to be honest, that’s a gun that struggles.

@@BraindeadCRY the pax is actually a god pairing with the Springfield as both can run dum dum ammo, and it’s ridiculously good when dual wielded. That’s not to say it’s in a good place, I do agree that the pax needs more variants and love, but it still works in a couple of interesting builds.

Silenced fmj with spitfire fmj has been my go to load out for reliability for a while now. The two guns compliment each other so well and feel good to use. Glad to see a video on probably my favorite load out in the game.

What a charming poetry demostration, true and precise

Vet is my main gun. Silenced with fmj and a spitfire with fmj is my main load out. For fun I bring the bow with a marksman vet. Bayonet is the only other variant I use

I have a love-hate relationship with this gun, because its everything I want the Centennial to be, but not nearly as sexy to look at or listen to.

Here's the poem for anyone interested :) "Oh, vetterli, vetterli what's not to getterli? More ammo, more damage you're definitely betterli. With FMJ or Suppressor send hunters to bed early. At the death screen they curse "damn, vetterli, vetterli!" Iron sharps and handling, keep the gun steaderly. High velo and marksman, a needle you threaderly. Only this rifle makes the hunt girls... ...appreciate the value of medium ammo."

This is still my favorite gun in the game and it’s been that way since I started playing. I’ve had fun pairing it with a hand crossbow recently, the crossbow is an excellent 1-shot option up close and bringing half poison bolts is perfect for AI, while the vetterli can fight extremely well against any gun outside of the crossbows range. It’s a good build for traits too as bolt thrower is the only weapon specific trait I need and I have plenty of extra points for things like doctor, physician, necro, serpent, beastface, etc

Suppressed Vetterli is operator tier gear. They can't kill ya if they don't know where the shots are coming from.

@@negative6442I mean most fights in hunt happen at like what, 30-40 meters? It’s not like you will need to constantly lead your shots or adjust. I’ve only gotten into a few gun fights where having good velocity would be nice, but not necessary.

Too many of my friends try to tell me this is a terrible weapon. The Vetterli has always been my favorite weapon in the whole game, I prefer it over most of the long ammo rifles because I'm just so comfortable with it. It just always feels so good to use. I've been rocking the winchestor and honestly, for the large majority of fights I get myself into it works perfectly fine. Same with the vetterli, which is a little less potent up close with levering and all, still kicks ass. I honestly don't really remember the last time I used a long ammo rifle that I didn't steal of someone I hobo'd

Great video! My recent favourite weapon after 2000 hours is the Vet Silencer. Pains me that my internet is down right now but your videos at least give me a bit of the Hunt feeling.

The poem was the best beginning for a Hunt video I've ever heard. Hands down Beside that, I think the Vetterli is probably one of the best weapons when you include the price. Because it is cheap (sometimes even a free hunter has it) and it does decent damage even on a long distance. I really love this weapon.

My personal favorite variant is the bayonet, and I almost never run suppressed weapons unless they came on a free hunter. I like the enemy to hear my shots because the amount of noise caused by me and 1 or 2 friends causes a lot of inexperienced players to panic. If they know what they're doing, we use the noise to cover each others' movements.

Disagree- HV means there’s a higher chance of being spotted when you shoot bc the muzzle flash isn’t concealed+the shot is louder

With the berthmir and sparks i carry half incendiary and regular. With sparks sniper i use the fire rounds for barrels or troll long range shots to induce havoc on people

Besides the hunting bow the vetterli bayonet is my favorite weapon of the game, the rate of fire is just bonkers! Because of its allroundness it pairs really well with a niche weapon such as the bow. Great video as always home!

I agree with the talon thing. ..But also I much prefer the bayonet/riposte to the talon, the delay of the charge up gets me killed sooo often, so I'm kind of glad they went the bayonet route. But it definitely looks like a talon. Would've been interesting if it had given us some kind of striker variant, stab and swing. Could've even made it blunt damage since it looks chunky. ..But that'd require a new variant altogether.

With iron sharpshooter this thing is unbeatable. There's something just perfect about the sway of the bolt cycle and the rpm that makes it so killer.

I watched it twice. 👌 Please help me out with this question tho: How much damage drop off i get with the Silenced Vetterli compared to the regular Vetterli? Both with FMJ for sure. 😊 I‘m asking because I love the „sneekyness“ and the Iron Side of the Silenced but if this means I can‘t two tap to the upper torso within 60 or at least 50 meters because of the slower muzzle velocity i would go for the regular one with the 80 meters two tap (regarding to the damage drop off chart by the devs). The Vetterli silencer is my perfect gun. The slow velocity perfectly compliments my slow reaction time, so if someone runs through my crosshairs, by the time I press the trigger and the bullet actually reaches them, they have wiggled back already in time of its arrival. :D

@Home (not sure if it’s appropriate here, but it’s better trying now then never) : What if, on rare occasions on night time maps, there could be a blood moon variant/event where it’s more different and high tension when it comes around. It gives more of a illuminated hue within the time that not only gives off a more grim atmosphere and lighting, but also makes the Grunts, bounties and other AI’s more aggressive and alert to keep hunters more on their feet while also rewarding them with extra goods, like double XP, bloodbonds, huntsollars, ect. maybe factoring into the luck of Mr. Chary if you’d successfully complete an extraction with a blood moon shift, what do you think?

The base Vetterli is what I always tell newcomers to use for a multitude of reasons: Velocity is same as Martini and Uppercut that makes the follow-up/leading skills interchangable Lots of ammo so missing isn't the biggest issue (largest of all mediums, second in the game only to the winfield iirc) Fastest cycle rate of all bolts and only a faction slower than the lever guns Lots of variants making it easy to swap up on what one wants (though the bayonet really should have a better light attack) The cons being that it has the slowest muzzle velocity of all medium ammo 2/3 slot weapons, but even that's counteracted with high vel. The fact that it's medium ammo is the biggest fault the gun has, purely because of how garbage not-long ammo is past 20m

Maybe in the near future we will get blessed with a buff to medium ammo with an introduction of multiple new medium ammo weapons along with it

The Vetterli is nice. But, well. Winfield 1873C is significantly cheaper and with FMJ does the job just as good for a lower price, and has a higher fire rate, and has access to levering. The conversion pistol with it has insanely high reserve as well, giving the Winfield that much more ammo. Pair it with dualies and the Winfield has insane ammo reserves, has access to levering for close range, and is still much cheaper. FMJ vetterli doesn't even have an edge in penetration either. With the cheaper loadout cost, and the higher fire rate, the Winny is just a plain monster. I like the Vetterli. I really do. But right now, Compact fmj is just better due to reserves, rate of fire, faster reloads, and better spam. Medium ammo needs love. And a lot of it. Right now Medium ammo is the worst ammo type in the game. I'll condemn FMJ for being that good though. Medium ammo would be slightly better if FMJ wasn't such a monster. Having said all that. The best gun in Hunt will always be the one you land shots with. Personal comfort in a weapon is huge. You can use a meta weapon all you like, but if your aim is better just for some reason with say, the Centennial. Then that's what you'll likely use and be good with. I find myself using the Sparks Uppercut a lot because I can for some reason aim really well with the two.

I hear you, fmj sorta puts guns on the upside of a in-between of the next ammo level up. But the verterlli has fmjs too. At that point, just how the with fmj the Winnie C is basically a more cost effective, faster firing, slower velocity Veterlli, the Veterlli becomes basically a more cost effective, faster firing, slower velocity Mosin. And while the Winnie will have more ammo, the vetterli has 27 shots, without a ammo slave. I have been more prone to run into ammo problems with a levering Winnie than I have with vetterli, but ammo problems are so scarce with either one that I just don't worry about it. Plus the Veterlli can one shot a hunter missing a small bar with a full power shot to the chest, something that compact ammo could never do. And while it doesn't have levering, it hip fire is both surprisingly fast and accurate, with enough power for shots to the arms, body or chest able to two shot before drop-off range (where you'll be hip firing usually anyway) And since the nerfs to levering, most players could probably two tap with the verterlli before the lever someone to death. And its still really cheap. It's not dirt cheap like the the Winnie C, but it can be fully kitted out for around 150. And if anyone thinks that's alot of money for a main loadout gun, it's probably because they've been playing too much Winnie C, and not getting any bounties because of it :P.

The biggest argument to your point is the fact that medium ammo (outside of the centennial) can knock a Hunter who has been downed already with 1 shot to the chest, and can 2 shot a healthy Hunter to the chest from a further range without the need of fmj. That doesn’t mean compact fmj isn’t a beast, it low key is probably better than long ammo with the amount of stuff it can do, but it does mean that medium isn’t as bad as people think. Think of medium ammo as budget heavy ammo, instead of expensive compact and it starts to make more sense as to why some players love it so much. Personal preference does play a huge roll in which guns players decide to use, and the beauty of hunt is that every gun can win fire fights, the balance is pretty solid across the board. (Other than the centennial, that gun makes 0 sense and is objectively the worst gun in the game imo)

@@itszaque5031 I'd agree, but Medium ammo starts its damage drops off at the same range compact does. Its drop off is still quite sharp too. Medium ammo isn't a budget long ammo in the slightest. It's a slightly better compact ammo, both of them starting drop off at 20m. Medium ammo is garbage. Only one rifle in medium is remotely good, which is the karabiner. The Sparks and Martini are long ammo monsters of damage for a similar cost. There is only one medium ammo gun I will actively stand behind and say is a good gun. The Spitfire. And not because of medium ammo but because it is a quick firing high damage pistol. At 25m, the Vetterli loses that oneshot to the chest on hunters with 125 health. Literally 5m after the damage starts dropping off it loses the ability that makes it supposedly better. 20m? That my friend is range where the slugs and crossbows are thirsty and wanting your life. The point is, FMJ compact is cheaper, is more reliable, and doesn't have to compete in the price range of the Sparks or Martini.

I'd like to see them add the Mauser 71 and 71/84 for variant.

Faced one sniper with the silenced version. My luck saved me, but my friend and girlfriend went down 4 times combined, none of us saw that damn sniper just knew he kept downing them.

i like vetterli but for some reason i have trouble aiming with it sometimes, i think it's the sights.

I just can't do the sights on the base gun, and since I prestige a lot the Vetterli is almost always overlooked unless I find a silenced one or get one with my recruits. But god damn do I hate the base Vetterli sights.

The Vetterily suppressed has a Notch-And-Post style open iron sight and you'd just call it a rear sight I guess

This is my personal rifle of every day choice. Pros: +Cheap +Accurate +Good damage +Good range +It's Vetterli Cons: -There is no compact Vetterli to be able to carry 2 of these with Quartermaster Edit: It is funny to see that in many weapons the game shows the FMJ ammunition with the graphic of a soft-point ammunition (I don't know what they are called in English, those that do not have the FMJ in their bullets) It would be nice if the FMJ ammunition make less damage than the common ones (soft lead tip) since a bullet that pen a part of the body does much less damage instantly than one that is lodged inside.

I really wish we could get a better effective range on silenced sparks. To me I never feel I'm getting kills with the sparks that I couldn't on veterrli fmj. Maybe I'm just dumb

The Berthier has the same mad-slash. You can even tap 2 very fast slashs if you press the melee attack key in a certain way. But yeah, it would be amazing to see this in the Vet.

The silenced vetterli is so good, because the iron sights are solid for the gun. No other gun in the game has a silenced variant with good iron sights. That's why I prefer it over any other silenced gun. The deadeye and marksman are also good choices for mid to long range as well.

The Problem with Medium is you need to hit head or just Play a bit agressive when Challenged against long ammo to get the most out of it and Sometimes the Situation dont let you do this... But i love me my vetterli with zoom round ls its just fun
