The Very First Sinners Who Rebelled Against God | Book of Jasher

Ойын-сауық

There are as many as five apocryphal books that go by the name ‘Book of Jasher’ - all of which appear to have been forgeries or composed much later than biblical times. In this series, I chose to use the most accessible version of the Book of Jasher I could find as a basis for the narrative, which is translated from Hebrew and dates back to the year 1613. Whilst I did alter the language - most notably the dialogue of the characters, you’ll find that the framework and the story itself remains the same, as well as running mostly parallel to the events of the Old Testament. The Book of Jasher, known in Hebrew as ‘Sepir Ha Yasher’, is believed to mean ‘Book of the Upright’ or ‘the Upright or Correct Record’. What makes the book so controversial is that it was believed in some circles to be a lost book that is mentioned a couple of times in the bible, most notably by Joshua and David respectively.

The repeated "failed" punishments don't mean God isn't omnipotent and that he is learning. If anything, it shows, yet again, that God is very orderly and doesn't change. First, he sends warnings. Second, he sends witnesses. Lastly, he judges everything. Everyone is without excuse before the Lord, for everyone has been abundantly warned. The book of Jasher tells us that the concept of a flood wasn't foreign to those who eventually experienced the universal flood. When Noah preached to mankind, they couldn't rightly reply:"You're nuts! It never happened and it never will! God doesn't do that."

Im reminded of the exodus. The Lord gave Pharoh 8 or 9 chances to repent though He knew he wouldn't. Then the final judgement, the Lord hardened pharohs heart, but only after giving multiple chances for him to.

The whole plot of the Bible be like: Humans after being saved by a divine act: "We are very sorry to have disobeyed you, Father. We will never forget your infinite love again" God: "I'm very glad to hear that, my children. Do not sin again and live according to my Word..." Human: "Okie Dokie!" 😊👌 *Proceed to sin and forget God again 5 minutes later* God: 🤦

@@HeavenAndHope the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. History demonstrates just how ineffective religion is at making humans behave themselves. in fact, history shows the opposite. It's far more effective to promote education, study, science and research over religion and faith. That is how people will evolve. Not religion. and if god doesn't want us to evolve ourselves through science and research, then something tells me this god may not be that great.

The God in Jasher is still omnipotent he just gave people multiple chances to change their ways before he completely destroyed the Earth. In Genesis he said that "He would not always strive with man, his days shall be 120. " Throughout the Bible God shows mercy by giving multiple chances to Israel, but they are stiff-necked.

@@temporaryaccount5307 How awful. As a childfree anti-natalist born I poverty, I'm sure glad that I didn't live back then. I can't imagine being pressured into sacrificing my body and spending money I don't want to spend having and taking care of children I don't even want. The children would be the real losers in that situation. Then again, different times, different motivations... Also, looking at this from a physical/biological point of view, men were traditionally permitted up to four wives probably due to the dangers of pregnancy/childbirth and the maternal and infant deaths at the time (even with the advent of modern medicine, this is still horrifically dangerous) and the need to populate because more children equals to more helping hands with the backbreaking work (unlike these days where children COST a lot of money/are a burden), so if a man had one wife and lost that wife to a maternal death (and often the baby with her), he would be helpless and essentially rendered as good as "dead" because a man's worth depended on family. Women weren't allowed more than one husband because, if she were to get pregnant, (way before DNA tests existed) nobody would know the paternity of the kids (obviously can't hide who the mother is), which would tear up the family/community and society in general (and potentially start generational wars). But all to ensure survival and stability. I mean, makes sense looking at how life was back then. There weren't grocers to buy already-prepared dinners and otherwise hard-to-get delicacies, department stores to buy clothes, or online shopping for misc. Indeed, everything you needed or even wanted, you had to get it and make it yourself. So I understand their point of view, too. Kind of like how not having a smartphone or SOME tech skills/knowledge these days almost amounts to pretty much the same thing because everything is run on technology like how things in the past (and still in very rural areas) required manpower.

God doesn't harm his people - us. And he doesn't curse us or the Earth. "Thy sake" means "your fault" or "your doing." So "Cursed is the ground for thy sake" means "Cursed is the world because of what you've done." This shows we brought this into our own lives. Or at least Adam and Eve, who were cast out from paradise and into the Earth; into our physical realm where we're susceptible to sin, suffering, and death. Thorns which now can touch and hurt us. Hunger which we can now experience. And so on and so forth. At least in my understanding. Although I know that God doesn't harm us. Raphael told me that in a message when I asked God why he causes us suffering. We do this to ourselves, and God is only making us aware and thus trying to help us avoid harming ourselves.

@Zach Bennett that's the catholic Bible, which has a number of biblical books that's they choose to leave out...the orthodox and ethopian orthodox church have a different Bible that contains more books. Because the catholics where more dominant in the medival Europe a number of churches choose to carry on with it, as opposed our orthodox Christian Bible. But the true story is the concil of Trent, who went against biblical teachings...by deciding to exclude some of the original books out of the bible. Why, secrets contained in these books are far to revealing for the liking of the "hijackers of the Christian faith" like prophesied by Daniel.

What is the difference between the Orthodox and the Ethiopian. I read the Ethiopian and it has 81 books. Yet. What does the Orthodox church have that is different and how many books. And what new and original inspired writings are in the Orthodox vs what is in the Ethiopian cannon. It's estimated the bible actually had 144-5 books to begin with but those over time were changed or destroyed. To suit an agenda or dilute the true faith in God. So much symbolism and numbers that actually make sense if you look at it. Another is that I. These times they started to treat women like animals or breeder livestock. And God for told this punishment to eve as how men would basically have domination over their women and treat them horribly. And also this explains how God in the garden also hard women as second placed beings. The man was supposed to care for them as he cared for himself. They were basically attendants modeled after certain types of Angel orders and also made a little lower then the Angels themselves but in the image of "God"!?

Except the fact that no commentaries were found on apocryphal books and only the canonical books were written on special parchment indicates that the apocryphal books were not considered as canonical by the Qumran community (Geisler and Nix, a general intro to the Bible, pg 270.) There’s no reason to think any of those books were venerated as sacred scripture. Philo of Alexandria, the Targums, The Peshitta, which is an old Syriac translation of the OT, The Bavli that refers to Babylonian Talmud references the Torah, but no apocryphal. In fact, it says “our rabbis taught the order of the Neviim when they are attached together are as follows: Joshua and judges, Samuel and Kings, Jeremiah and Ezekiel, Isaiah and the 12 propjets…The order of the Ketuvim is Ruth and the book of psalms, job and proverbs, ecclesiastics, Song of Songs, lamentations, Daniel and the scroll of Esther; Ezra and chronicles. Makes for interesting biblical speculation along with archaeology around BAC. Did Heaven really get ticked off with mankind?

It's considered a forgery, the guy who found it in the 1700's translated it himself directly into English. There is a pretty good chance that First Enoch which was found among the Dead Sea Scrolls is the actual book written by Jasher. It could not have been written by Enoch it contains too much information after he was taken to Heaven. It also contains information about Noah and the time after the flood. Jasher is very likely Jushur the first king after the flood on the Sumerian King's list. This would mean Jasher is his king title and Javan or his son Tarshish great grandson of Noah is who I think is Jasher.

"Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him." Hebrews 11:5 adds: "By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, 'and was not found, because God had taken him'; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God." Some erroneously jump to the conclusion that Enoch was taken up into heaven, but notice the Bible nowhere says this. It simply says that God "took him." It does not specify where he was taken. Jesus Christ later states in the Gospel of John that "Scripture cannot be broken" (John 10:35). One of the points He makes is that one passage of the Bible cannot contradict another passage. This same Gospel of John reveals a startling fact very pertinent to this matter: "No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven" (John 3:13). Clearly, Jesus Christ was the only human being who had ascended into heaven. The phrase "who is in heaven" lets us know that this was written by the apostle John after Christ's return to heaven. So even as late as this statement, no human being-and that includes Enoch-had ascended into heaven. We later read about Enoch's fate in Hebrews 11:5: "By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, 'and was not found, because God had taken him'; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God." The word rendered "taken" can also mean "transferred elsewhere." And the New American Standard Bible says this was done "so that he would not see death"-a better translation than "did not," as we know from the same chapter of Hebrews that he died. Notice in verse 13 the summary given of all of the men and women of faith listed here, including Enoch: "These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth" (Hebrews 11:13). So Enoch definitely died as well as all the rest. How, then, can it be that Enoch was transferred elsewhere so he wouldn't see death? God doesn't give us all the details of what happened, but a few scenarios have been proposed that do not conflict with the fact that Enoch died as the Bible says. It may be that God transported Enoch elsewhere to keep him from being killed at a certain time-perhaps protecting him from martyrdom at the hands of angry persecutors who didn't like his announcement of coming divine judgment (see Jude 14-16). God likewise supernaturally transported Elijah and Philip to other places on earth (see 2 Kings 2:11; Acts 8:39). On the other hand, we should observe that Enoch died young for his time-at age 365 while those before and after him lived into their 800s and 900s. Because of this, some speculate that God "took him" from life prematurely so that he would not have to live out his remaining centuries in a miserable world (compare Isaiah 57:1-2). His next moment of consciousness will be the resurrection. In this case, "so that he would not see death" would refer to his not having to experience the process of dying-his life ending instantly. Still others, putting the likelihood of Enoch experiencing persecution together with his early death, have concluded that Enoch was murdered-martyred for his preaching. Enoch being taken and not found would then refer to God removing his body and burying it-as happened with Moses (Deuteronomy 34:5-6). In this case, Enoch being taken or transferred so that he would not see death is taken as separate matter-that of him being spiritually converted, transferred from the world's ways to God's way of living, so that he would not see ultimate death in the lake of fire (compare Colossians 1:13; John 8:51). Again, we don't have enough details to know exactly what is intended. But we do know that Enoch did not skip death and go to heaven. He died, and no human being has ascended to heaven except Jesus Christ.

I Am means YHWH so idk what ur taking about. YHWH means the self sufficient; self existing; everlasting One; a Name God had not yet revealed to His ppl. God’s Names in the Bible have authority and were indicative of His traits that He exhibited at the time. Furthermore, the commandment to not take His Name in vain concerned the prophets and those who would lie and say God said something when He didn’t. Bible repeatedly tells us to call upon the Name of the Lord; and, in fact, says it’s His “forever name that is to be remembered thruout the generations” (Exo 3:14-15) so why would we mortals not be worthy to call God by His Name? Whether there is a godly being that started the universe spinning and walk away forgetting to check back in on the progress or as the religious play it that was there with a body that the Adam could be made in the image of. Given that the Bible says that all i have to do is ask for a sign from him, still been waiting some 40 years on that one. None of it holds any bearing on the here and now. It holds no more bearing than the time of King Arthur or the writings about his own time from Nostrodomus. No matter how much a modern religious person may try to claim that it does. The funny thing is that the only kind of a being that can convince me that the Bible about a long ago then has any bearing on my here and now is an all powerful being in the here and now.

There are plenty of people reading the Bible. Amazingly it hasn't changed from the first time I read it though. Oh I've forgotten bits and pieces of it, hence the reviewing of it. It still remains a bunch of old stories of a time looong since past, in lands that I've never stepped foot on, and about a grouping of people that I'm not even descended from. Stories with a fair amount of magic to be had and a lot of events that never happened. A book that is supposed to be the handbook of the human life and is supposed to be inspired by an all knowing main character of the stories. Yet it can't even get biological actions correct. Or even species association correct. If I had waited these last 40 years, and I mean picked a spot and got down on my knees and waited for that supposed sign from god that the Bible claims that god would give when asked. That has never come. I would surely be dead, dying of starvation and dehydration. And I'm the one who's told to repent, for what now? Living my life, getting by day by day. More and more as I get older I see less and less signs that there are any kinds of any gods to be had.

The perfect world that was the Garden of Eden everything was perfect and you could drink from any stream you wanted. You could eat a fish straight from a river. Try doing that stuff today, try going anywhere and eating a fish from a river or stream and drink water their you will get sick! It coincides with humans starting to form culture and grow food. Some evidence has emerged that their was some types of primitive civilization in the ice age. Plus the world was perfect as it always had been. But at that time it was all about to change because of mankind wishing to do things our way. Remember the national anthem of Hell is "I did it my way!" Good news is humans can right our wrongs and have made great progress in doing so. Our trait to correct our wrongs is what makes humans unique from all other species on Earth.

@@geordiewishart1683 That part is true though that would be further back then the ice age. Not that far back only a few minutes give or take. Those minutes to a human would represent millions of years. In the eyes of the almighty 1 million year is 1 minute of time. Where as a 1 million dollars is a penny. If we go further back our ancestors looked a lot like mice and rats. They went around foraging on insects with some seeds. This diet allowed them to survive the great extinction that wiped out all dinosaurs except birds. The flood back then happened caused by a very large rock rich in iridium (rare on Earth but common in Asteroids). What not a lot of people understand about the flood is that it happened more than once. The flood that is written about is the one that happened during mans time which makes sense because man was around to record Gods word. The flood is a blanket term used to describe the mass sweeping of destruction over the Earth. During the great dinosaur extinction their was also another type of flood which burned the forests and all the land to a crisp. God doesn't mention some things because he wants us to figure out some things ourselves. This is why he allows us science, so we can understand HIS world. When we put scientific findings with God we have the perfect picture. Indeed dinosaurs and man live together both here and up their. Unlike here all the "extinct" dinosaurs are with mankind in the real world which is Heaven. This is the fake world where we come to learn how important God is. In the fake world all dinosaurs other than birds are long gone. The last ones died 66 minutes ago (millions of years) The things God wants us to learn is to love and forgive well and serve him with something of great significance. Hold up… “God in his infancy tries to master mankind? “ What? I don’t think you understand what all knowing means. You have choices you can make. God sees all of your choices… your possibilities. Free will creates those possibilities. You are not a puppet. God can encourage but if you do not want to, you can rebel against his encouragement. This was Cain as God spoke to Cain before he slew Abel and God warned him of the choice that laid before him. The same happened to Pharaoh with Moses. He was given ten plagues to encourage obeying to free Israel. He chose obedience at 10 and then chose to go against his decision. I get it if you need drama for your video to get attention but this if this is serious, your commentary on how God is an infant and lacking his claimed omniscience is wildly unfounded given the case already set forth with the Torah. Granted the Torah/Bible does not elaborate on much of the beginning and sums it up in chapter 6 but your interpretation of the first couple chapters illustrate how inept some people can easily be when given more details. You miss the “Forest for the Trees”, nit picking on details that cause you in your limited perspective to see the grander scale of actions taking place. Again, this might be your grab at dramatizing your work. But if that is what this is, I hope you get everything deserved by your hard work in this endeavor. For all I know, this is just fairy tales to you and in that I am potentially the one at fault for trying to give guidance.
