It’s nice to hear Ashcroft talk so positively about McCabe. They are right though, if you take any one of them away it is no longer The Verve! Simon Jones and Pete Salisbury are probably the best rhythm section of any band in the 90’s. They are the perfect example of something being greater than the sum of its parts!

This is great..but imo, it shows the path RPA was on, he seemed insecure about his "songs" and in fairness Simon was rightly fawning over Nick and feeling the need to big up each member and what they each brought to the table. All very insecure. It's like they were missing a Mother/Manager who could make them all feel as important as each other, while telling them all on the sly, that they were the vital ingredient and "The Genius". You hope with age, that these things work themselves out but its the little demon ego that rares it's ugly head at random times and starts ww3 all over again. A band who will always have unfinished business because they are too fucking good.
