The Verdura Diaries | Fulco and Flato

Upon Verdura’s arrival in New York, Vreeland introduced him to jeweler Paul Flato, who had a presence on both coasts and for whom Verdura began to create designs. When he moved out to Hollywood to work at Flato’s shop on Sunset Boulevard, he became immersed in the Golden Age of filmmaking and began designing jewels for many of the stars of that era. In this episode, Ward Landrigan relates how this all began and how this all dramatically ended in 1939 on the day war broke out in Europe.
