Moe Tucker had known Sterling since she was 10. He was a friend of her brother.
Rest in peace, Nico. Sterling, and Lou. Forever missed

At his induction, Neil Young also played a brand new (never before played) song; along with one that had been released less than five years prior. Never heard of any other artists playing new material like that at their induction ceremony.
The perfect way to complete a band. Inducted and then play a brand new song written for their fallen bandmate.
I love that people are still hating the velvets, just what Lou would of wanted. It’s not about the song it’s about the feeling and emotion behind it. Fuck technicality
The last performance from The Velvet Underground, I think, is a real testament to their power. They knew it was going to be their last time together as band and they didn't bring out a hit, they brought out an all new composition, and one that isn't quite like anything they'd made before. RIP Sterling, Lou, Nico, and The Velvet Underground.

The unexpected…so VU
I love the way Moe Tucker drums, especially on this part 2:56 . It sounds like a real Velvet Underground song from 1966. It sounds like the "Velvet Underground spirit" is coming back for the very last time to say goodbye to Sterling Morrison. It makes me cry every time.
Every time Lou smiled it truly warmth my heart, RIP Lou, I miss having you in this world so fucking much
Look their faces... So much emotion...
And this song had only been written by Mo Tucker (and not the entire band as Lou says at the beginning) two days before this performance! You can tell they’re about to start crying because of Sterling not being there but are holding it in even through John’s missed verse at 2:34 and Lou fills in. This us the very last song the VU ever did together and I couldn’t think of a more beautiful way to go out. R.I.P. Lou, Sterling and Nico.

Wow that’s great
Nah...Lou smiled after John flubbed the words. He let him off the hook though John looked pissed with himself later on that he'd stuffed up. What a band! Still capable of tremendous power and touching poignancy in their very last breath. Simply in a class of their own with the rest a mile behind. Always were.
Love you Velvet Underground! Always will! Miss you Lou, Nico, Sterling, Warhol! Biggest influential band of ali time!
The simplicity for which we love VU.
THE band folks...they changed my life completely. They overcame, and here, celebrate with dignity and reverence to a fellow bandmate that endured their once ostracized existence along with the surviving three.
Makes me cry. For all of us.
Good night Sterling and Lou, we will miss you!
first time I heard this...it was really a special song to all of them; but I think Maureen was especially touched...she seemed to be the little sister in the group and was so loved, esp. by Morrison. She wanted this song to reach his soul. First time she had makeup on.
this sounds so simple but heartbreaking and so fuking moving man
I just love at 2:26, when Cale stumbles and then noticeably Reed is thrown off. Lol.
I've seen some of these performance for the hall of fame, but this by far the most impressing for it's tremendous poignancy!

Such a wonderful tribute to a fallen friend. What a shame the '93 reunion went up in smoke. Thanks, Lou. Could have been so much more. What amazing artistic talent, those four.
Despite the mistakes, this is very moving. They all look traumatised by Sterling's loss.

Happy birthday Sterling Morrison (1942-1995) He turned 79 years old now if still alive
Ok, they sound like a teenage school band, they haven't rehearsed much, but the emotions ...
crying for sterling lou and nicon andy
unstable, uneasy, uncomfortable, and beautiful and heartbreaking
i think John cale just choked up cuz this song is about sterling and he died abit before this performance
Lou & Sterling: wherever you are, all our love!
They didn't need a light show, auto-tune, and 20 dancers to be fantastic. Thanks for making so much music that mattered.
You can see and feel their sadness. I read that Moe and Lou seen Sterling towards the end of his life. I don't know if John ever got the see him, perhaps he didn't to preserve his memory of what Sterling looked like in healthier times. Rest in Peace Sterling Morrison! 💜
VU is one of the biggest artistic phenomenon od 20th century
wonderful, music for the soul from the greatest band ever,,
This song always makes me think of my late pet cat Beck. I've had him for 95% of my life, (since I was 2). He was like a 2nd brother to me. He was my littlest brother. After several years he got sick and the lost humane thing was to put him down. He is my biggest loss in my life and I miss him so much. I remember the night that I could say "last night, I said goodbye to my friend"
This is good. Pioneers.
My favourite bunch of musicians . What a fantastic couple of minutes . Wow.
Always love John,Moe and Lou.

The 1969 live album with Doug Yule is the Velvets at their best, after 3 years playing live they had an incredible set and a relaxed intensity and mastery in their playing. Its a pity Doug and Lou fell out, Doug added a lot to the band in that period.

According to the book “The Dead Straight Guide to the Velvet Underground and Lou Reed” by Peter Hogan, Yule had been told that if he wished to attend he’d have to pay his own airfare and would be restricted to sitting in the audience rather than joining his former bandmates on stage. He opted to stay at home instead.

what a great venue, the Barclay Center is appalling.
In grand RRHOF tradition, they flubbed the sound on Tucker's vocals during a touching and significant moment. It's hard to imagine all these folks have to PAY Jan Wenner in order to receive their *honors*.

Yule was a significant presence on more than half of the Velvets’ material, including some of their best stuff. He regrets “Squeeze” deeply, and everyone knows he was taken advantage of by Sesnick. Yule’s snub by the RNRHOF is unforgivable, and destroys what little credibility that institution has. I can’t help but point a finger toward Lou and John about this as well. His inclusion should have been a no-brainer.
@blackmore4

@@KLanz123 Totally agree with you. Doug Yule was brilliant on the '69 album, the unreleased 4th one and 'Loaded' and he sang lead on some of my favourite ever Velvets tunes. Leaving him out doesn't make sense at all.
