You can probably guess what this song is about...
“I wrote “Waiting for a Bus” while waiting for a bus” explains Luke Escombe, aka Aspara Gus, the songwriter and frontman of the group. “It was actually written a few years ago, before the new B-line service from the Northern Beaches to the city. You used to wait a long time back in those days. I think I’d finished the whole song by the time my bus arrived.”
While not specifically about vegetables, Waiting for a Bus is a typical example of The Vegetable Plot’s distinctive mix of humour and high concept production, featuring car horns, tuba, timpani, gypsy violin and a chorus inspired by the Russian Red Army Choir.
The stylish, collage-based video was created by their friend, and fellow kids music performer, Ben Thatcher, better known to little ones as Benny Time.
“Waiting for a Bus” was announced as a winner in the children’s category of the 2019 International Songwriting Competition. The album it appears on, 'Season Two', has also been nominated for Best Children's Album in the 2020 AIR Independent Music Awards.
