The Vault: ACT UP protesters tie up traffic in lower Manhattan in 1988
AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT), the nonprofit organization that formed in March 1987, made headlines when they marked their first anniversary by protesting on Wall Street and Broadway.
The organization gathered with "Cure Aids Now" signs and tied up lower Manhattan traffic to raise awareness for AIDS research.
Even though the group stopped midday traffic, many of the demonstrators found support among bystanders who were stuck in the mayhem.

Omg obsessed with this show! Younger generations need to see this to know how bad and unfair it really was! I have a trans daughter and took her for hormones at a young age and love her more than myself! She has more bravery in her young life than I've had in 40+ years (not going to get into specifics in age baby! ) ha! You go! All of you! Live your truth!!!!❤
Larry Kramer was very courageous and he made the whole world take note about this awful and deadly disease. If it wasn't for him, the medication and more would not be able to save lives
I was arrested that day. I miss so many of my friends who sat down in Wall Street and aren’t here today
I was thrilled to learn that Mr. Staley (0:51) is still alive and fighting the fight for all of those affected by HIV/AIDS.

This makes me so angry. People were dying and the US ignored their cries for help…
The reporter was sympathetic. That's why he used those soundbites. He had to tell the story - but he found a way to give it perspective.
Unfair violence = not enough cost. More works than office's ability make the unfair violence, But anybody told not the number of officers. *more police, more peaceful* The Peace is the cost, too. Politicians don't like this talk.

Those where the days when you guys were like family to me.....grew up watching NY's ABC channel 7 eyewitness news. What a disappointment when I found out you're nothing more then propaganda pushers!!
