In 1821 Napoleon went the way of all flesh. The Catholic Church has survived all comers. Romans, Huns, Nazis and Communists have all had their moment in the sun. They have all gone. The Church remains and has done so for 2000 years. Christ prophesied that the "gates of hell will never prevail against it." The most interesting fact is that the very people called to serve the Church have tried during most of that 2000 years, to destroy the Church. That is because the Church was not meant to be a kingdom nor the Pope a king. This ebb and flow of the Church's history will continue to the end of days. Just you watch and see.

It's been my understanding that Pope Francis has been hugely instrumental in the current level of transparency the Church is currently experiencing. He is also encouraging complete transparency in the immediate future. I believe it's only a matter of time before it all is laid bare.

Catholicism is not the church. The church is the whole group of true believers of Jesus Christ as the only Way, the Truth, the Life (John 14:6, Acts 4:12)

The Western / European psyche is clearly biased when dealing with murders and genocide committed against indigenous people all over the world. And within this bias too - Religious genocides have been completely whitewashed as if they never happened. Here we are considering as gruesome - the abduction and forced relocation of a child - but we ignore the fact that - in Goa during the 200 years of inquisition - husbands, wives and children would be burned alive during an annual fair - for flimsy reasons and based on someone else mere verbal account. Palpable, horrible. I am not at all surprised to hear about this and am sad. In Australia where I grew up, the Catholic church destroyed my father as a boy and he detested the Catholic 'faith'. The indigenous people in Australia are still telling about their hideous experiences still now at the hands of the church and the government where they court each other. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I was raised and tortured catholic. They lied to us, kept this truth from us, and never encouraged us to read the bible. Because everything Jesus teaches us to do. They teach the opposite. Jesus told us many will deceive and come in His name. Catholic church, mormon church, Jehovah witness and many more are deceiving in Jesus name.
